  • Complete game defeated in 2 hours 26 minutes- no cheats, no savestates, no Mystic Weapon either. Just using a turbo button and spinning in circles in dungeons to recharge MP. Yeah, I know mistakes were made, but doing this in a single sitting wears ya down. I kept restarting until I got lucky with the random party and away I went. Just glad my dungeon encounters were lucky ones until I stocked up on the Sands of Time, especially since I didn't save in-game.
    Roles:
Ranger- to get to Level 5 so I can get a boat
Thief- quickly gets gold and evades most traps
2 Wizards- teleporting up and down in dungeons, endgame death dealers
    Points of interest:
1:12 Royal City to get Blowgun for my Thief
13:19 Cave of Sol for Mark of Snake and looting cash for equipment (ends at 27:47 )
28:45 Dawn for Ranger's Bow, food, Sands, and the Gold Pick
34:58 Cave of Fool for Mark of Force and looting cash for stats (ends at 1:23:55 )
1:27:48 Cave of Madness for Mark of Fire and a few quick chests (ends at 1:38:40 )
    1:39:41 Yew for Horn
1:40:30 British Castle to get Ranger to Level 5 and acquire boat
    1:48:52 Entering Ambrosia
1:50:47 Shrine of Intelligence to boost Wizards' stats and get Card
1:55:11 Shrine of Wisdom for Card
1:56:56 Shrine of Strength to boost Thief's stats and for Card
2:06:22 Shrine of Dexterity for Card
    2:07:02 Leaving Ambrosia
    2:08:03 Looting Mystic Armor
    2:09:33 Entering Exodus Castle
    Endgame Stats:
Ranger- LV 5, Str 25, Dex, 15, Int 5, Wis 5, Bow, Mystic Armor
Thief- LV 1, Str 30, Dex 25, Int 5, Wis 5, Blowgun, Mystic Armor
Wizards- LV 1, Str 5, Dex 15, Int 99, Wis 5, Dagger, Mystic Armor
Remaining Sands of Time for Wizard 2: 16
    Food Remaining for all: 14
Marks for all: Fire, Force, Snake

I played this game religiously as a kid and came here on a flashback to hear the music. I could hum every melody straight away. I was making real progress in the game when my mother let her friends mentally handicap daughter use the game and she erased all my characters and put three of her own named Sarah. When I discovered it my heart sank. I think it was the first time I felt real depression and loss as a child. Thanks a lot Sarah

I need to surround myself with more people from your generation. I love the NES era of gaming, and have spent years swearing by RPG's made before 1991! The problem is.. I'm 19. Kids my age start crying when they see pixels, but games aren't the same anymore. Graphics are valued at the cost of everything, to the point where I avoid new games. Dragon Warrior III, Final Fantasy I&II, Ultima III, those are good games! LOL
I've become passionate about recreating that NEStalgia with my own game development. Been making modern "classics" for a hobby the past 4 years. You know where it's it!

4- a challenge party (Illusionist, Alchemist, Barbarian, and Lark), a Ranger solo, and two glitched practice runs. This isn't counting how many times I killed this game as a kid back when it first came out. The first two runs served as a refresher. And I did have to restart a few times to get a decent party- the rest was a combination of knowing where to go and luck.

  • @kamikaze9699
    @kamikaze9699  Před 11 lety +1

This is what is called a Western RPG (as opposed to Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior being Japanese RPGs), so it'll definitely play differently.
The NES graphics and sound are better than the PC version (look up Ultima III). Though, if you're oldschool like me, it all comes down to controls (n,s,e,w, & type out commands vs up,down, left, right,A,B,Select,Start). The computer version does have a couple options not available on the NES, but I have more fun playing the NES port.

  • @kamikaze9699

Hours of playing and reading the guides, and now, I am perfected. Two days pass, it's the 8th; I have mythic armour, the 4 cards, Force & Fire relics, and a wizard with 99 Int. I simply need the Snake relic and the Horn; After which I make way to Exodus.

Beat it in 89 with the help of a strategy guide, Nintendo power hintline. I used to kill off every character but a wizard. It's easier to power one character as opposed to 4. Sands of time etc lmao Could finish it in about 3 and a half hours. Can't believe I remember this.

I am pretty sure a lot more than five finished it at that time. I finished it as did several of my friends. Took a lot longer than 2.5 hrs though. At that time I had never even heard of record tracking books

Have you ever had a ménage à trois with two ex-girlfriends while your current GF taped it? Drank a beerbong filled to the brim with a half gallon of cheap vodka in 9 seconds? Eaten 25 hits of 98% pure acid before going to see a Gwar show and perform cunnilingus while getting sprayed with blood? If that's the high point of your life, you haven't lived...

"Your soul is mine, I fart on it!" My death metal voice is more reminiscent of Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget.
As for the background, it's a mix of Secret of Mana temple music and backmasked "don't look at the man behind the curtain" from the Wizard of Oz.

The battle music on the Apple II (and by extension the C64) is better than this version. I like the C64 Ambrosia theme, but it really doesn't leave the same impact that the NES one does. The rest kind of depict the medieval well, but just don't really stand out as anything special.

hmmm...definitly not your final fantasy or dragon warrior type of rpg. I guess you had to be a big fan of the old computer versions to like this. (then again, if you were a fan of the computer versions, I couldn't see buying this and playing through it on the nes.)

No, the floor is the last boss you fight. Exodus itself is the super computer you feed punch cards to so the OS shuts down or something. Welcome to the 1980s, where sorcery and cybernetics mixed often.
