I only have Zigs .... which are fine. They look pretty similar. But Zigs are, as you say, more vibrant. For those who are hobbyists and not bloggers, etc.... do what works for you..... what is financial beneficial and what works for what you are doing. Completely agree with Kelly. We do what works. No pressure. Enjoy! 💕🙋‍♀️

Fun cooking date. I think it was so thoughtful of the group to invite you both to join them. As for the Artezea markers running out you could potentially replace them with the Zigs if you liked using them. That way you can try out the “new” medium for a reasonable price and then slowly acquire the more vibrant Zigs. And/or buy some of the Zig’s in colors that you don’t have in the Artezea’s. Beautiful flowers dear.

Thanks for comparing the Zig vs Arteza! Like you I love pinks and love your story about BB & cooking class!
I'm Italian & learned to make Gnocchi as a child and use to make them all the time. You probably already
have recipe but it's potatoes, egg, then flour, season pepper & grated cheese the amount depends on how
many potatoes I then throw in boiling water what we where going to eat. The rest of the batched not cooked
I would freeze! I missed this video last yr! You helped in making my decision. TY take care.

Being Italian, My Mom taught me how to make gnocchi when I was young. Traditional gnocchi is made with potatoes but with in the last ten years or so ricotta gnocchi have become very popular. Try making those Kelly, they’re easier.😊 I have both the Zigs and Arteza and agree with you... Zigs are better!

Fantastic side-by-side! Thank you for the review.
Amazon sells 4-packs of a single colour for the Arteza. Not sure why you'd want 4 pens of the same colour unless you -really- love it, but it is a way to replenish a single colour for at least double the cost of a single Zig pen (i.e. $7.99 for 4 of the same colour Arteza vs. 1 Zig at $3.50 list price).

I have a tip! Never try to stamp on yupo with a non permanent ink, then try coloring it in with copic markers. Omg😱! I'm a newbie and made a newbie mistake. But ultimately, it turned out really cute. It was a picture for my son and daughter in laws baby boy, who will be born the end of next month. I created a really simple rainbow background with alcohol ink and stamped the cutest fox in the center(my grandsons name is going to be Fox).

Beautiful cards, I could tell in the beginning that the zigs seemed to have been more pigmented, but in the finished cards with everything all dried back, they do look very similar. I'm so glad you had a wonderful weekend with Eric & enjoyed the cooking class. But, why do you think you have the time to make gnocchi from scratch, lol..I'll betcha CZcams or somewhere in this social media world has a great, intuitive video so that you can learn how to make it.

  • @kristinevencel2898
    @kristinevencel2898 Před 5 lety

Hmmmm, I purchased the Arteza markers since I have some Copics. $$ was the deciding factor. I need to practice more. I have trouble due to the longer bristles. Your cards turned out beautifully! Gives me hope.
So happy your class was such fun, but sorry you didn’t get to make the course of your choice. I have never made gnocchi, only eaten them. I used to make my own noodles back in the day when I could eat anything. They were heavenly!
I have to tell you though, we were in San Diego last month with my LA son. He loves really good food. He took us to a little Italian place for dinner one night. I chose the special......gnocchi...sun-dried tomatoes....parmesan...and.🥁🥖...🥁🥖........truffle oil! OMG........Bravissimo!!! Now that recipe I would love to learn how to make.
I happen to love red wine. But, if you ever want to get adventurous, try Limoncello. It’s very sweet and very strong, so 1 sip will do ya, probably. Lol. They served it to us all over Italy so now I love it. Along with espresso. BIG SIGH.
Thank you for sharing today. Loved seeing your comparison. Ciao!

Both are lovely Kelly and as much as i would love the zigs, I'm skint, so the Arteza's will just have to do me, although i did but the 96 pen set because i got them at a fantastic price and i have never seen them at that price again and i got a coupon code which helped emmensely with my choice.
I'm so glad that you had a great time and hey, who couldn't fall for you as you are just that kind of person, who i think would call a spade a spade and then think O sugar, i shouldn't have said that , hee hee hee. People like people that are honest and truthful and for the main part, i think like people that are down to earth with no false airs and graces. What a wonderful weekend it obviously turned out to be for you both and it was nice that the group asked you to join them, they liked the Kelly that makes us laugh and astounds us with her talent.

Beautiful card, as always!! 👏🏻 Thanks for doing this comparison video! I love my Zigs & need to buy a few single markers but then I saw so many videos & marketing on Pinterest, too, so I was wondering if they were just as good? So I’m so glad to have watched your video! Though the price point is good, I’d probably stick to my Zigs & buy the ones not included in my 36 set as well as my small Copic marker collection... The one medium I haven’t tried but would really like to are colored pencils or pencil crayons? I’m off to peruse your posted videos for using colored pencils!
Glad you enjoyed the cooking class! Sounds like fun?! Sounded like you made gnocchi? Pasta made of potato & flower (not sure what else goes in to making it) but I LOVE to eat it & listening to you describe the taste of foods you gotta cook & eat actually made my mouth water! Lol! 😂

The main reason I'd go with the Zigs over Arteza is the ability to buy the former open stock. The best price I've found for that is Carpe Diem markers. I have the 36 count set of the Zigs, and want to supplement with some other colors. Just haven't gotten around to figuring out what colors I may want. Anyhoo, thank you for this comparison! Love how your coloring came out with the multi-colored flowers. And using the different shades in the leaves really makes them sing. Loved hearing your cooking class story, too--so glad that worked out for you. I personally wouldn't have loved the meal--I might be an even bigger carnivore than you, since vegetables & I just do not get along well! LOL I would love to go vegan, just for the animal rights aspect, but there are so few vegetables that I can stand to eat, it just ain't happening! Like you say, it is what it is. Hope things warm up for y'all soon--I've heard it's pretty cold up where you are. Spring is struggling even to come to us in Texas, but the signs are there. :) Take care, and have a wonderful day! :)

Thank you for doing this comparison. It was very helpful to see how similar they are. I had thought that because the thicker brush of the Arteza that the paint would come out with more volume but they were about the same. I also noticed much more about how you did the actual process. Many times you layer when you are watercoloring but not this time. Was that a choice for this card or is there other criteria for choosing to layer?

I love both cards. But they are an aren't the same. I love when you paint, or color florals; they're my favorite.
Glad your trip was nice. Gnocchi isn't my favorite Italian pasta. The thing with Italian food I feel is the sauce, anyway all the fine dining Italian restaurants I've been to. My recipe for pasta is just flour, eggs and salt if I cab remember correctly without getting into my recipe box. It's really easy. We always roll it out on the table for lots of space and then cut by hand in long thin strips. It's so much better than store bought.

Sometimes Zig markers are so bright they look garish. Both cards turned out pretty.

I hope the following will help you regarding your search on how to make authentic Potato Gnocchi. Here are a couple of CZcams videos that may help you on your road to making Gnocchi one day. The first video of Gnocchi making was placed on CZcams 3years ago and is done by a wonderful Italian Chef, Lidia Bastianich featured under EATER. The second that I recommend was created a wonderful chief/cook/creator of FOOD WISHES and the gentleman of FOOD WISHES has a blog or website that has his recipes on there from what he created on his CZcams CHANNEL. I hope these two help and that I made some sense as I’ve a had ridiculous cold/flu/bronchitis for well over 3 weeks and my brain is mush, but I try.
Also, I agree with you regarding the vibrancy of the Zig’s colors versus Arteza. But, the price point is great by Arteza; especially when you kids (19) and is very creative, the Arteza is great to share with them😉.

The sentiment placement looks fine. No one is ever happy with their artwork all the time.
I painted an image for Uni a week back and the shadow looked like a penis.I'm not joking. Once you see it, it can't be unseen. It wasn't my final submission though.
