Yes, but your (presumably American) ideas and perceptions of independence are radically different from that of Scotland and the UK.
Scotland is, by choice, a constituent member of a larger union. It contributes to and benefits from the UK's economy, has a devolved parliament with power in its own borders (as do Wales and Northern Ireland), and is also represented in the UK's central Parliament and government (two of the last four Prime Ministers of the UK were even Scottish!).
At the time, remaining in the UK was the more economically sensible and practical decision.

Sturgeon may be many things-but she's no fool, and she won't risk another referendum, with declining support.47% share of a 55% turnout doesn't translate to independence. They had their chance in 2014 and blew it.No means No!!

I love Scotland and with family still there I thank god that enough Scots had the good sense to vote No. To gamble the future of our children and grandchildren on the hopes and dreams of the SNP would have been a total and utter disaster for Scotland and her people. 30 months on we now know that if the people had believed the promises of the Yes campaign Scotland would be broke, just like Greece. No jobs, cut backs everywhere and the only thing thriving in an SNP run country would have been Food banks. The No voters take all the credit and as for the Yes voters well let's hope you all learned a very valuable lesson. Scotland just dodged a bullet!!!!!

The voters rejected nothing, the no was a fix and its only delayed the inevitable.
We all know about the hundreds of thousands who did not recieve their polling cards and therefore did not vote because they thought they werent registered.
We all know that those with no polling card who did know that they were registered showed up only to be told that someone had already voted in their place (rumours of the vendictive orange postman were true).
We all know about the thousands who never recieved their postal vote, and were not allowed to vote because it never arrived, we also know that when they showed up and explained their situation on the day they were turned away.
We know about the polling officals telling firsttime voters voting yes to 'tick' the box and not cross it, to have their vote voided.
We know about the counters taking piles of yes cards and throwing them in with no.
We know about the no crowd opening up the ballot boxes privately and tampering with them, before being taken in to be counted under supervision (confirmed with the postal vote - im sure the same will have happened with the voting day boxes).
We all also know about the queens own uda and udf coming over from occupied Ireland to have a celebratory riot and we also know about the police turning a blind eye to the thing they were doing (at least part of their riot).
The huns days in Scotland are numbered

Thank you for the words of support. And thanks for believing - though it is not some conspiricy to be believed or disbelievd - its what happened.
Its important to make the distinction between English & brit, as the English are our friends: During the ref most English people supported us wanted Yes (was just people helping people) - it was the brit politicians/media etc who wanted no (& Scotland has its share of brits aswell - English culture has just been more severly assimilated by british imperialism/nationalism).
Our English friends need a chance to rule themselves as much as we do: During the classical period they were ruled by Romans/ Medieval times they were ruled by Normans/ Enlightenment times they were briefly ruled by a Scottish family then by a German Family & to this day they are still ruled by the German family.
Since your from America please let me explain the word 'hun' I used previously, as the word has different meanings throughout the world:
During WW1/2 the brits referred to the Germans using this word, however the brits are a group of terrorists from Germany who overthrew the UK about 300 years ago (William of Orange, Oliver Cromwell etc), so natives in the uk & Ireland refer to the brits (actual & collaborators) as 'huns' to point out the irony of their bigotry.

wow. thanks for educating. me I've heard that before about the british royale family being foreigners to that land. I just didn't know exat points of it. I wonder why the English aren't outraged by that? that seems like a big deal having foreigners carry the highest titles in a land and to form the government to accomadate them accordingly.
That makes perfect sense about English people in the same boat. Aswell as us in America. they could put up a referendum hear in California to break off and form a independent republic and it would probably pass, and we don't have no where the same amount of offences commited between us and the federal government. as Scotland and the government in London. most men in there heart would take there chances with freedom, I think. But, obviously The U.S would never give up the bread basket that is abundant state.
I think the biggest hurdle is pensioners, disabled, elderly, and veterans people that have assurances with the federal government. who have uncertainty about any split.
all people especially these days are developing a appreciation for liberty. because never has tyranny been so wide spread.
im curious to see how everything unfolds.

Another example of your economic ignorance uk charges Scotland or fails to pay it something like 4.5 billion pounds. That is why Scotland appears dependent on oil the reality is entirely different.

+Keith Muir It's just become personal with me now-when I voted No in Sept 2014,that was the last I expected to hear about it-but the SNP keep banging on about it-and people like you saying it's inevitable.Well, even if you are right-and we have only delayed it by 10,15 or 20 years-I will rejoice in our great victory over Fat Salmond and Jimmy Kranky-and take delight in every second we remain in the UK.
And if it angers or irritates folk like yourself-then that's just an added bonus! LOL.

You obviously don't realise we should be independent before we leave we take more money from Britain than the other countries combined
You can't run a country on whiskey
      Our government is incapable
People are dying waiting on ambulances
And what's free about being in the EU anyways ?

I supported the Union for 3 reason's 1) The Currency 2) I feared that Scotland would have a left-wing Government with a left-wing opposition ,and so would end up a economic basket case 3) That an Independent Scotland would have to reapply to join the EU. After the latest Holyrood elections my second fear was bollocks ,Scotland has a centre right Government with a centre right opposition . After the 23rd of June number three could have bitten the Dust and Indy would be the best way to stay in the EU not to mention if the UK leaves the pound will go down the Bog so my greatest reservation will also be voided. Sometimes you might have to admit you got it wrong , but I still dislike nationalists

***** Ireland did very badly on it's own until it joined the EU , that is simple checkable fact
Switzerland has a series of bilateral agreements with the EU that in effect it is behaviours like a EU member without actually being one .
Maybe you should learn a little before spurting crap - You are correct about Scotland being within its rights but that's hardly a profound observation

***** I had a vote in the referendum,
But I am still missing the point about Ireland, It was one of the poorest country's in western Europe from Independence until it joined the EU it has since achieved a standard of living higher then the UK's on some measures ,the High level of sovereign debt is a because of the collapse of it's banking system ,but with the support of European partners has largely over come that issue now and is growing strongly

***** No I can write to anyone but you are simply saying things that are not true . And if that is because you think that the EU has anything to do with communism , not only are your emotions as wrong as your facts you are being very disrespectful to the millions of people who suffered under real communism and aspired to and now have joined the EU

If Scotland had a referendum now Scotland would win according to statistics so independence is on the horizon and no more British politics with brexit and crap like that in the 12 hundreds we had our own nation thanks to Scottish rebels till the english came and during that period there was hope and power to Scotland but now its brexit depression none of it is working and now our nations economy has fallen the opportunity's Scotland could've had if we were independent our own economy our own laws our own territory our decisions but it was a no and the Scottish people couldn't realise that there where many opportunities but it was a no look where we are now brexit covid 19 less jobs and education all of it this is something the people should've thought about so next time think twice or we could change Scotland future for the worst

If Scotland is independent, that means all Scottish people will have to go back to their homes. My mum's Scottish and my dad is from Sunderland. If Scotland is independent, my mum worries that she'll go back to Scotland forever. My family will be torn apart.
