OHMYGOD HEY!
After years of being a theatre obsessive, last month I finally took my first ever trip to New York City and Broadway with my stagey boyfriend Aeron James.
In Part 2 of the vlog series you'll find out if we got rush tickets to see PARADE as well as joining us to see DEAR WORLD at New York City Centre, LEWBERGER in concert and even a trip to Paper Mill Playhouse to see HERCULES!

This would be a great quiz round! But it did help that it was outside its theatre 😂

The cups are my go-to souvenir. You can get a soda at most theaters for $10 in the souvenir cup and most also give you a free refill at intermission. I get frustrated though that so many shows just have the generic cups.
Theatre fan and Try Guys fan here so I'm thrilled that you've had an awesome time so far on your NYC trip (Schmackary's cookies are amazing) - sadly missed out on seeing Lewberger off-Broadway but I got to see the Try Guys tour back in 2019 and stagedoored afterwards and Keith was so nice and awesome (they were going to Philadelphia for their next show and, having been there recently, I recommended him getting a roast pork sandwich there and it devolved into the both of us geeking out over food XD)!
Not sure if anyone has said this yet, but the drink at Parade was called the Peachtree because there are about a thousand streets in Atlanta alone named Peachtree in some way, shape, or form. 😂 Glad y’all had a great time!

If no one has mentioned, the weird annexed seating in the middle of the street was a covid innovation as a way to seat more people when tables needed to be spaced out. As I'm sure you've seen, many restaurants were short on indoor space already. But the extra seating seems to be here to stay.
It's so amazing that you got to see the Hadestown stage door and snagged a cupcake. I've seen that show eight times, it's my favorite thing.
Glad it's finally coming to the west end.
The thing with dance studios and rehearsal rooms is that they are often in the most random of buildings! When I was still teaching secondary performing arts I used to take my students to NY at Easter, and we would usually do a Broadway workshop but finding the building we needed to go to, and then finding the room on a random floor once we were in the building was always a 'fun' adventure!

Pretty cool to see Thayne Jasperson on stage with Lewberger. I'm thoroughly enjoying your NYC vlogs, it looks like you had an awesome time and you're giving me ideas of places to go when I visit later in the year! I can't wait for the next installment.

It was fun experiencing your visit to New York with you. New Yorkers complain so much about Times Square and the theater district so it was nice seeing it thru fresh eyes. Just came back from London myself seeing The Edge of the Sky -- nothing beats walking back to the hotel over Waterloo Bridge.

I actually held back from taking confetti when I saw Six on tour because I found a bag of the paper "water" from Percy Jackson while moving & realized I don't have a proper way to display that kind of stuff hehehe. One of my small regrets from my trip to NY was never riding the subway or a train of any sort (I did in Washington DC but not the same) so seeing you take such a nice ride out to NJ was very much the vibe I needed today.

I'm studying your videos to prep for my NY trip in May. I think I need to adjust my expectations because there's no way my family will get up that early for rush tickets even though I would be down.
Paper mill venues looked so nice! Lewbergers show looked so fun.

The Broadway district in NY is pretty compact and the grid system in NY is quite easy to follow.

i love seeing people whove never been to the city be in awe of time square. most people just see it for new years eve on tv. im from jersey so i go all the time.

I find it so funny thatyou call Millburn rural. I mean compared to Manhattan yeah but milburn is one of the most in demand towns in the area.
I was laughing at that, too. Definitely suburban rather than rural.

The very southern tip of Manhattan has more of the older roads where you need to know where you're going to figure out how to get there. When the grid system was built, that area was already so built up (and so many rich people's houses there) that they couldn't really undo it, so there are a lot of much older roads there that zig-zag around in ways that don't make much sense.
Those covered outdoor seating areas at the restaurants are controversial -- they started with Covid, when, for a while, restaurants were only allowed to have outdoor dining, no indoor dining. But the design of them is sometimes just making an indoor space outdoors -- some of them really have no air circulation, which completely defeats the purpose of outdoor dining for Covid safety to begin with. And there are a lot of people now arguing that they shouldn't be allowed anymore in places that didn't allow outdoor dining pre-Covid -- some of them are taking up space from other stuff, or making the sidewalks really narrow. (Personally, I like the ones that do have actual air flow, but some of them are really ugly, and some of the really enclosed ones just seem pointless.)
So glad you got out to the Paper Mill -- I grew up in NJ, and I love that theatre. I saw Newsies there, and a few other shows. And Lewberger looks amazing -- I wish I could have seen them.

@@MickeyJoTheatre i use autogenerated captions, but they really aren’t the most helpful, or a proper accessibility feature - youtube currently can’t create consistent and accurate subtitles in almost any situation, but especially not when detailing with high background noise / lower audio mixing. if it’s possible to set aside budget in the future, there’s some captioning services that will do it for you if the issue is not having the time yourself, but it would help a lot to have real captions!!
