      I am designing the first ever sun snuffer and I have decided that this would be a Men of Iron weapon, who were corrupted by the C'tan void dragon and given the ability to eat entire stars. He couldn't corrupt the men of gold because they were also human cyborgs. I'm going with one of the greater Halo rings as a starting point although not hollow in the center and it expands considerably from that point. I'm thinking it probably uses inertialess drive like the Necrons instead of warp travel since it is so massive and TVD would know all about that technology. But it can also open warp portals to suck energy from the star. I'm still in the lore building phase so I am taking any and all input or ideas. Please feel free to critique my ideas.

    • @MWH12085
      @MWH12085 Před 6 měsíci +8

      @DeathBYDesign666 well.....we're the Men of Iron really "corrupted" by the Void Dragon (aka The Omnisiah). The Void Dragon probably thought " finally, a suitable army to bust me outta here and regain my place in the galaxy"

    • @DeathBYDesign666
      @DeathBYDesign666 Před 6 měsíci

      @@MWH12085 Yeah I think it does make the most sense given the nature of the weapon/ship. About the inertialess drive though that also makes sense because it would have to be able to resist the immense gravity of a star and that would definitely be helpful. TVD was also the literal universal god of technology and gave the Necrons a great deal of their technology. This man of iron also has personally met this being and might have a great deal to do with it being able to survive for 15k years by itself. I could use this machine as a possible commander of this immense vessel, which is why he has so close a connection to the Blackstone fortress. Make sense how it could interact with such an advanced form of technology. It just all makes perfect sense, which why it is probably either going to be stolen by GW or ignored completely.
      I intend to show my progress on this project and I have come a long way in regards to the lore and some good ideas for the design. Eventually I intend to make a full blown movie with it but that is years away, unless of course our own AI technology can assist me on this project. This project couldn't be harder if I tried because I have to make up most of the lore along the way, but also stay true to established lore. I am sure I can do it though, I always loved designing ships and such things, I am quite good at it but I have never had to build the lore around one so thoroughly. That's just as much fun as watching it take shape as I have come to realize.
      I might just tell the tale of a surviving sun snuffer in the current setting orbiting a black dwarf star that it had drained itself. Maybe it was in a huge battle where it expanded all of it's energy after devouring this particular star. Since then it has been perfectly preserved in the cold dark vacuum of space and it gets a huge burst of energy from a being such as this man of iron or it found a way to reveive it somehow. That's gonna be tricky to get it up and running again. Any ideas there?

      It depends on the perspective. In some 40k canons, humanity couldn't do it without the help of the Eldar because even at their peak, Dark age of Technology humans were still far behind the Eldar, and of course the imperium wouldn't want to admit that they were saved by the xenos.

    My favorite theory/plotline for the whole "dark age of technology" is that the emperor at this time was simply an absolute brilliant scientist/engenier/programer who tried to revolutionise the STC Concept. Because of the vast distance between worlds the earlier STC´s are outdated and "patching" them became incrisingly difficult so he had the idea to use the Warp as some sort of Datalink, similiar how astrophaths are doing it in the current timeline.
    The chaos gods, maybe even Tzeentch and/or Vashtor, sabotaged him and infested the code with their Chaos energy and turned every AI galaxy wide into Berserker mode.
    I like the idea that the "savior of mankind" is in truth the reason for its downfall and because of that he banned AI forever and wiped out all Memories. And it would explain why he is/was so good with machines that he can trick the mechanicum into believing he is the omnisiah. If u are used to program quantum computers fixing a Nokia is the easiest task ever.
    And it would be somehow a dark irony that, when he tried to do the same thing again with his webway project, he fucke up a 2nd time^^

    Leagues of Votann have Men of Stone (the Votann AIs), which are immobile city-sized computers but powerful thinkers and planners, and Ironkin (sapient robots similar to Men of Iron) which work and fight beside the smaller cloneskein humans (Homo Sapiens Rotundus). Each Ironkin is an individual and by all accounts independent of all controls. Although how free the Ironkin truly are, considering that not a single one ever thought of leaving their League to explore the galaxy by itself...is kinda dubious.

    • @gremblorthesackgoblin7953
      @gremblorthesackgoblin7953 Před 5 měsíci +7

      Consitering the region that they've been in this entire time, any small scale empromptu explorations wouldn't get very far if they did happen. Most likely less than a rounding error.

    • @Altines
      @Altines Před 5 měsíci +9

      The pioneer sprue (the kin explorers who leave their league to go explore the galaxy) does come with an ironkin head and even if it didn't nothing is stopping you from grabbing one off another sprue and saying he decided to go exploring. Fact is though that Votann doesn't have a whole lot of a lore in general right now.
      As far as I know the only limitation in the ironkin is that they "want to be helpful" which I would say is a good rule of thumb for people to follow anyways (though I now kinda want an ironkin who can't find a way to be helpful and is just depressed about it).

    • @wilczekkubam
      @wilczekkubam Před 5 měsíci +9

      Not really, the league itself came from clones of workers who had little significance beyond being labor. They are all clones from what I know and are created for a purpose. Of course, the goal has changed and evolved, but the basics of the structure have remained unchanged. Which explains why they don't build more AI computers, they just rely on the ones they have. They didn't have this knowledge from the beginning and the AI may have primary blocks preventing it from giving them this information. Leagues of Votan is a faction designed like any other in 40k, there are more secrets and uncertainties than the things we know.

    Blackstone Fortresses might have been created by the Necrons, not the Aeldari/Eldar race, lore only states that Vaul created it as one of the Eldar gods yet most likely referring to one of the OLD ONES. The Necron does create Blackstone pylons and the architecture of the Blackstone Fortresses is akin to the pyramid ships and Necron technology appearance rather than the bio smooth-like tech the Eldari tend to appear like. The Blackstone Fortresses were also created to destroy/shatter the C'tan and the ones that ultimately did that were the Necrons.

      It's kind of questionable if the passage in 3rd. Edition is referencing an actual Blackstone Fortress or if this was something Imperials speculated about. The original Battlefleet Gothic rulebook says there were skirmishes in the Gothic sector with Eldar prior to the war, but the war was started when Chaos arrived in the system. The 3rd. Edition codex only says there was a weapon called the Talisman of Vaul created by the Eldar and this talisman is part of what sparked the Gothic War. The 2018 Blackstone Fortress novel contradicts the Necron Codex and says the Talisman of Vaul is the name of the first Blackstone Fortress attacked by Chaos.

    The way you defeat malicious AI is not by purging all AI, its by having better AI on your side. Trying to rid yourself of AI during a war against AI is akin to throwing away your guns during a war against an army equipped with firearms, it will end very badly for you. Oxford Professor of Quantum Computation David Deutsch has pointed out that if we are concerned about AI being used for malicious intentions by bad guys, then the good guys need to work to stay a step ahead and have better knowledge of and therefore better AI systems on their side.

For the FO figures i’m not quite sure yet, would be cool to get multiple, but there’s so much Legions coming out that have to fit the toy budget, JM might be a cool figure to put the ghost parts from the undead builder on.

    I wonder if some of the surviving men of iron encountered the Leagues of Votann and if so, what was their reaction - did they perhaps seek refuge among the iron kin? Or were they hostile, recognizing the kin just as other humans?...

      We need more lore about the Ironkin. Votann call other squats "kin", so maybe Ironkin is actually a phrase evolved from "Men of Iron" (as they mean the same exact thing), suggesting they are an offshoot group of Men of Iron that stayed loyal to humanity

      For better or for worse, some of the lore is inconsistent, or is changed / retconned.
      Example.
      The C'tan at one time were not Pokemon fragments. They were fully intact and moving around freely in 40k...
      Then there was a retcon where the Necrons blew them all up and they're tiny pokemon shards - "Gotta catch 'em all!"
      It was so much better to keep them intact.

    I miss warhammer before the power creep and everything. Back when the men of iron were this kind of mythological thing that you would only see on a table if some one was dedicated enough to make the model, not giving us one in a bunch of different boxes. They were only mentioned in lore really here and there. When bolters were this omnipotent weapon of war that only the most talented of warriors could wield, not just a generic weapon type for all the armies. The times when your army general was a representation of you on the battlefield, Not just another One of a kind named guy that pops up in one third of the armies because hes more powerful the the phalanx kind of power creep. Theyve kind of just turned it into the mcdonalds of sci fi. Even worse they trying to trade mark it all, not realizing helldivers 2 stole most their unit models from them.

  • @wilczekkubam

    This is very strange, because the people themselves were divided into gold men, stone man and steel man. As far as I know, the golden men created the stone men and they created the steel men, but the war itself was between the stone and steel men, we have no references to the golden men's participation in all this. So, on the one hand, we have a story about ancient times that we no longer know and will not understand (probably there are eldar who know everything about those times, but we, as a viewer, do not have access to their vast historical records) and on the other hand, we have a story straight from the terminator, which is not completely true. We also know that ancient artificial intelligence was "connected" to the human brain, because we know the story of the ship that came from the past to the present (of 40k). So maybe we are talking about the golden people as the first people who created the cyborgs that populated the universe and who began to create machines, or the machines themselves could have been the body, into which human minds were transferred in the form of code (because we also know that humans stored the minds of extremely important people).
