    Interesting issue, first time seeing this on a laptop they're making laptops more complicated instead of relying on the charger in case your battery is dead you must buy a new battery just to power it on.. so a benchmark psu would save in this case thanks for this interesting video

    I have a dead c302c as well. Samy symptoms, all black, no charging light. Battery shows 8.7v. Could that be the problem? According to the specs it' should have 7.7v. Or is a higher voltage OK?

      from your point of view it's a bad design, you're not supposed to fix it by yourself. The Asus folks will know quickly what's wrong and that what matters.
      Manufacturers don't design their product for the customers to fix it by themselves.

    Was it only the battery? I had the same issue with an Asus Zenbook. They use the hybrid power supply which uses battery to boost the AC adapter in times of heavy load. The behaviour was exactly the same. In my case I've discovered a shorted 2nd mosfet on the input line. It caused the system to run only from battery and cut-off the voltage of dc-jack.

    in my opinion because of bridge you will charge battery too much mainboard will pomp power all the time to the battery bms from battery block charge because of the limit you have 2x 3,7v on minimum so should be 7.4 minimum after you cros 7,4 baterry wil wake up and start charge normaly without bridge

  • @Swenser
    @Swenser Před 2 lety

    I jumped a MOSFET on a battery board in a Dell one time. And it brought things back to normal. By jumpering at the terminals is not tricking the bms chip. Go deeper in the the battery board, maybe it's fixable.

    знакомый акцент) Заказал такого же красавца из Штатов как восстановленный. Пришел с подобной проблемой, но он работает от сети. При включении может несколько раз сбрасывать процесс включения. На этом процессе можно сбросить к заводским настройкам, но я не могу это сделать, так как он сразу сбрасывает сам процесс пробуждения ноутбука. Разбирал его, внутри все чисто, без гари и черных точек. Найду мультиметр и посмотрю так же как вы на видео, возможно что батарея тоже мертва.
    При подключённой батареи и сети можно включить его и зайти в консоль, там сделать "тест батареи" и он ответит что батарея не найдена - и не важно подключена она или нет.

  • @johnbos4637

    It's not strange. It's just the manufacturer putting an extra check into the BIOS or power management chip to check the battery and if it doesn't hold a charge they simply don't let the laptop power on. This kind of trickery is common on cheaper devices to force people to buy a new one.

    • @alexisfrjp
      @alexisfrjp Před 2 lety

      it isn't to force people to buy a new one. Batteries are dangerous if not handled correctly, it makes sense to cutoff everything if it finds a bad battery. Change it and you're good to go.

    Batteries have always been causing problems with laptops appearing dead. I have a 35yr old Compaq SLT 286 laptop that will only power on if it has a working battery or no battery. If you have a dead battery installed it wont power on! I have put electrical tape over the contacts so the laptop thinks there is no battery installed so it powers on.. I also have 20yr old laptops that do something similar if a CMOS battery has no charge.

    Based on your lessons about batteries :
    It is rated 7.7v and 4920mAh and when you charge it with the PSU it goes to 6.8v then the internal resistance is low and the battery is good. Just remove the bridge and charge it from the PSU.

    • @electronicsrepairschool
      @electronicsrepairschool  Před 2 lety +9

      You are right, the battery looks like new based on what internal resistance iv seen there, but, the battery is FLAGGED, that's mean it's disabled, it will never charger and it will never supply power again.
