I was using the wooden Victor snap traps, and after killing a rat I would clean and disinfect the traps before reusing. A pest control guy told me to just empty out the traps, and leave all the blood and guts on the trap, never clean them, just rebait and reset. He said it attracts more rats that way.
Hes not wrong. Just be diligent about gloves and handwashing and where you store your traps and no need to disinfect. If u clean them that's such a foreign object for them already adding a chemical smell will detour them. Smelling a dead rodent is normal for rats they eat each other all the time
If they are that bloody and messy then just toss it, $1.97 a piece.
I choose power over safety. Who else is with me?
Touching the rodent for a reuse ♻️
I'm with you! I've been having a chipmunk invasion in my garage and have been using the Jawz snap traps that work wonderfully in trapping the critters, but not killing them instantly.
I have had to put 4 chipmunks down with my high powered pellet gun, that were still alive in the trap. I don't like seeing anything suffer, so I'm looking for the most powerful trap that kills instantly.
Me
I have used every trap that you have there and the best rat trap hands down is the Victor wood base rat trap. It's inexpensive, well made, simple design, and kills rats. You can also modify it so it snaps with a stronger force ensuring an instant kill. I bury all dead rats next to plants, bushes, flowers and trees to serve as fertilizer. I suggest peanut butter as bait as rats love it.
How and what do you do to modify it so it snaps with a 'stronger force'.?
Also you can pound in like 5-6 nails from underneath around where it snaps down so they are sticking out about 1/3 inch so it holds on to the rat when it gets trapped. I've heard you can tweak the latch metal piece 'just a hair' so it'll snap easier, always watch the fingers. It's good to use gloves and wash hands when touching traps.
Do any plastic Snap Traps allow you to adjust or fix the latching mechanism after it has worn? I bought a 6-pak for Rats and after a few years none will hold open.
That Victor Kill Bar Rat Trap, killed the vermin instantly easy clean up and reset
I've used all of them,The old Victor wooden trap Kills instantly, But my go to is By Far the T-Rex with the victor and the Catchmaster coming an Equal second
The new victors work very well. Super easy and safe to set and you do not touch the critter at all when disposing it. The victor bigger 'rat' traps work well for mice.
Thank you
If you plan on putting these traps in a bait station be sure to measure them first. 3 different trex style traps have 3 different heights when set. Some of these traps are narrow enough but you need the bait station to be tall enough. Wooden Victor traps don't seem to fit into station as they are too wide and narrowing them seemed like a time consuming option.
What do I do if my mice seem to know about all these traps already and avoid them? (Old multi-family apartment building, old mice that pass down this knowledge?)
I hope I never have insects big enough to need a victor trap lol
Murder hornets?
When I use a Conibear 110 to bag a rat, that must be overkill? Had bait stolen from the wood and black jaws type traps.
What was the conclusion? Wich one it's better?
4:00 mins excellent sorted my problem thank you
Great video - I need this info! Gotta get help, but afraid to use these things!
The jaws ones suck. I've had no luck. Going to have to try the traditional one I guess
Best traps are the old wooden ones they stand the test of time, it all depends on the bait how and where you place the trap and how to remove the odors of the trap specially if reusing it, rats are more cautious then mice so try to make the trap as part of the environment as possible and they work like a charm.
Bro you're killing me I feel like you're gonna lose a finger, use your palm if you can
HI, which one has the most sensitive pressure plate? And which one has the most power (except for the classic Victor)? Thanks
Packrat (packrats ? ) are eating bait & not springing the Victor trap (first one in your list) actually one was sprung out of 3 , however no packrat ?. They like peanut butter & or pear pieces. Anyway, are now a real problem. Suggestions ? :)
i use jaws and victor mice trap jaws is pretty good
If one of these traps were to make a video, which one would title it properly for a thumbs up?
Wow, looks like you almost touched the pressure plate on the set snap trap. Be careful! Thanks for the video.
That was dumb by him lol
When u catch one rat or mouse does that mean there are more near by also
An exterminator was here recently, and he told me that people always say that, but it's not necessarily true.
will the large one all the way to the right kill a squirrel?
So which is the best? You didn't say???????
clickbait
I prefer getting rid of rodents one way or the other.
Does one work better than the others?
@mooihoek I agree. I like how you can release and reset with your foot wearing shoes or boots of course.
It's just a request your intro music it's very loud request to make lower please
Lmaoo
3:12 with the traditional Victor traps, they're inexpensive so I just toss the rodent out along with the trap and just buy a new trap.
you can re use it why waste your money? use it until they break
@@Nathan-lt6bw my man, I thought my dad was crazy for wanting to reuse it but hell ya he was right lol
I thought he was one of those impractical jokers for a min
Is this murph from impractical jokers
I choose the one that kills effectively and efficiently.
The Jawz is Absolute Trash...try pressing on the mechanism to set it off..half the time it wont even work, likewise with the Cream colored ones,i also dont like Catchmasters as half the time they have problems too,the ONLY ones i find Reliable as a Fellow Exterminator like yourself are the Victors (Pain in the Ass to set but worth it) and my BAR NONE Favorite the T-REX...super easy to set and Reliable but sadly often Expensive $80 for 12 compared to $26 for 12 Traditional Victors.
Yeap they are not good
Round Body Grip traps with nuts fastened to the trigger.
Duh! Which is the best is the title and sucked me in to watch. But no review given
If you had titled it, “hey look at all these different traps”, I would’ve given you a thumbs up you need to title your videos a little bit better!
Mines broken it wont snap 🤧
Snap trap all day long...snap the necks and save your home
Totally humane solution that works to deter mice and rats from entering... peppermint & cinnamon oil but has to be the right variety. This one works great and available on Amazon. Lazy Cat Rodent Repellent
None of these traps work (consistently) without added "teeth" -- screws (or in the case of the wooden base Victor) small finishing nails -- driven through the bottom "jaw" (or through the small holes you've pre-driven into the wood base, below the kill bar landing, in the old Victor). The plastic "teeth" on those newer snap traps are a joke. If you don't add that feature, 75% of your rats are going to just pull their head out after triggering the (laughing out loud) "kill bar".
Also, you need to tie off the trap or, in the case of the wood Victor trap, screw it down on a 2X4 or thinner 1X4 plank. Otherwise, you'll set your traps on one night, and notice that they've disappeared the following day. ...(The other thing that happens is that they are sprung by mice who will finish eating the bait before skittering away clean.)
....But, you'd have to be a beginner at this to not know those two things. There's not a single trap that is ready to use, right out of the package. They all have to be modified.
The electric traps? ....Put a brick on each side of the trap. Some rats jump at first shock, causing the trap to tip over onto its side; and then finish eating your bait and get away.
If I’m reusing traps, the last thing I want is a wooden base. The blood, guts, and piss soak into the wood even if sanitized
I didn't think of that. Thanks.
Hose it down dude
I just wash the wood base victor down, I always reuse the traps that kill as I know they are sensitive enough to kill the rats. As a improvement to the trap i use add a line of stables with the top cut off leaving about 1/4 of an inch sticking up acting as a spike so they cannot back out. More blood but makes the traps a better killer. I also attach a weight on the trap so the rat won't try and make off with the trap if they are not killed instantly.
It's easy to rectify that problem.Just attach some non porous substance to the wood.Plastic lid and glue works perfectly.
The blood and guts will attract more. If you watch the no kill trap's if enough get in there they will actually eat their own. Kind of like the Leftist.
All Rats got a die ! even master splinter!
Why are you talking about "Irreducible complexity"? that's a argument for creation.
Its also a statement in engineering
