Don't mind them using the chassis or under pinnings of the Mustang. Just shouldn't call it the Mustang or add the Mustang Badge on it. Mustang is and should always be a 2 door muscle car not an SUV with 4 doors
Engineers were basing their concept to Porsche going to family oriented life styles. Porsche created Cheyenne, Panamera, and smaller Macan and won't ever see a 911, Boxster, or a Cayman with 4 doors. To get back to the Muscle Car category won't see Dodge Challenger, and Camaro with 4 doors. If they only could bring back the Galaxy 500 name in 60's there was the 4 door variants. Call it the GalaxE 500 or Galaxy 500E, or perhaps Falcon-E
Mustang and 4 doors should never exist, and if it becomes a production model. They lost a Ford customer for life, and going to Jaguar or Porsche, which remains true to their models heritage.

@@mj6463 It's not like Mustang is a brand name like Jaguar call it a Mustang and give a different it is Ford brand and they're giving a
4 door Mustang, which is Fords mistake. Porsche has 911 it shall remain a 2 door sports car, as will the Boxster, and Cayman. For there all 4 door models they have a different to those 2 door models. The Cheyenne, Macan, Panamera, and now EV Panamera variant, which has a different name Taycan. Therefore, an EV Mustang can exist just don't do the 4 doors.

No issues with the car, or the Mach-E name. Can't wait for an actual electric Mustang, as well.
It's putting that Mustang name and Horse on the front of a 4-door electric CUV that's not cool, IMHO. That emblem has been on a 2 door sports car for over 50 years. Ford is only putting the Mustang logo on it to get the car more attention, which cheapens the brand. They could have just called it the Ford Mach-E, or created a new brand for their all electric line-up.

I work at Ford and I’ll be honest this is going to be a huge boost for the void of customer who couldn’t pull the trigger on a 5.0 Mustang because of winter and practicality and the Mach E fills in this void perfectly. If there’s that many people wanting a V8 Mustang right now, then please go to your dealers and buy them before they go extinct.

The moment something new comes that is out of the norm everyone has something negative to say.
What I don’t agree is the mile rage, since the technology has been out there for while, I believe the range should be a lot more but yet these companies just continue to screw us.
What I believe if the electric car companies want to wipe out the gas vehicles at its vast majority to help the environment, make these electric cars with longer rage. How about 600 miles or longer.

I would think of the Mach E as an addition to the Mustang line-up, not a replacment. Especially, since the Mustang is one of the few cars Ford is actually going to keep around for a while longer.
My guess would be that the Mach E is Ford's attempt to keep the Mustang name young, fresh and up-to-date, since electric cars (or maybe hydrogen fuel cells) are the future, at least according to current conventional wisdom. That way they can also gather some experience, so they don't screw up the next-(or next-next)gen all-electric regular Ford Mustang.

No AWD for me, want to have more of the extended range and a faster 0-60 time! AWD just slow you down since you have to divide power to all 4 wheels! Not need unless you do rock climbing! The rear wheel drive model having larger range is not really surprising.
You have one less motor to power.
You can't really compare the Tesla because they don't offer a rear wheel drive model anymore in the model X or S.
And you can only get the rear wheel drive model 3 in the standard range plus.

So I agree with you I think what Ford did makes total sense technologically and from a scientific perspective.
given the same size battery pack having one less motor should give it more range.
