You can’t tell how someone identifies just from looking at them.
Not all non-binary people use they/them pronouns
Singular ‘They’ is grammatically correct - It was word of the year in 2019 for Merriam-Webster
Non-binary identities are not new, although being non-binary is being talked about a lot more over the past 5 years in the UK, USA and beyond

Ask about pronouns, ask about name, if you use the wrong pronouns, apologies and move on
Use the correct pronouns whether that person is in the room or not
When talking about the person before they came out as non-binary, still use the pronouns and name they use now

Let non-binary people choose the toilets they feel most comfortable in
