AD stands for Ardnamurchan Distillery. The numbering system refers to the month and year it was bottled.
This is a distillery v focused on minimising their carbon footprint-more details on their website-the tube is made from recycled cardboard. However, since the release of the first batch, they have changed the make up of the tube so that it is stronger.
Use the QR code - they use block chain technology to record absolutely everything about the production of each batch- a geeky level of information! In the U.K. they began releasing stock in batches but have recently moved to a regular non batch status , as stock levels are now high enough. However they have also started releasing small batches - cask strength, specific casks, peated only (the core product is a vatting of unpeated/peated). They are building a v good reputation in the U.K.
Love this bottle and distillery! I agree that the naming of the bottles is confusing. I think this is their core release. The bottle should have a QR code that you can scan and see every cask that was used in this batch. I think these releases are 35% ex-sherry casks and 65% ex-bourbon casks with half of the casks peated and half unpeated. I liked my bottle more and more as it opened up. Thanks for the review!
This stuff really needs time and water to open up comes across very subtle at first but becomes more complex for its young age with time. Really like it.

Nice job for a great whisky. QR codes aren't for everyone. Would it kill AD to put just a tad more on the label? Not all my QR codes work, but when they do, I love the geekery. Very keen on AD. Keep trying it everyone. It's a keeper.

@@ScotchTestDummies LOL! Literally. I too wish they had a better naming system. But hey, they put all of their being-extremely-good-at-something into making whisky, instead of naming whisky, and you can't blame 'em for that.
