Can't wait for this to open. California needs a really huge "central station".
The terminal is currently closed due to two cracks found in the support beams. Also, the train level isn’t supposed to open until 2025-2026.
@@davidnissim9203 I belivie the stress which caused the cracks was cause by some fault in manufacturing or transport.

It looks like the current setup for Transbay is a stub-end station. If LA Union Station is being reconfigured from a stub-end to a run-through to ease congestion and allow more trains into the station at a time, then Transbay should also be built as a run-through from the outset. Hopefully a return loop is added within the near future, not long after rail service begins, so trains can enter the station from one end and leave out the other. The station will only have half the number of tracks and platforms as the current 4th and King Caltrain station, so it'll be critical to keep the flow of trains going smoothly to avoid backups and delays. Especially considering the estimated amount of Caltrain and CAHSR trains that'll be using the station on a daily basis.

When will the lower level open? You know... the one where the High Speed Rail Station is supposed to go?

It's April 2017 now, I wonder what the progress is on this project. I live in Fresno where they have been taking out overpasses and building viaducts left and right.
Actually, the Transbay Transit Center is scheduled for completion this December.
The High Speed Rail system will open in 2029, but the train level of the Transbay Terminal will open in 2026 for Caltrain service.
It's funny how deceptive things can be - the lower floor looks almost done except it's not the actual floor - 1' more of concrete for that plus an additional 1' of ballast, sleepers and steel for the tracks - then there are the platforms on top of that - perhaps the passengers will be walking 4' above the apparent floor (as per the video) when the terminal is completed. I know this footage is over 30 months old, but it looks good overall!
