My father in law replaced Prince Spencer in 1964. He is still alive in Kansas City, Kansas.

I'm so glad I found this. They were my idols growing up. They use to practice their acro tap with no gym mat or for that matter a dance studio. Everything was done outside on the streets. In the early days they had no music and use to keep rhythm by clapping and stomping their feet while the other danced.
My big thrill was years later dancing with Maceo Anderson. I'll never forget it.

Wow. I pulled up this video after watching Al Williams (one of the step brothers) on the episode The Stand Ins on Sanford and Son, and I pulled up more info about him and found out he was a part of this group. All of them are very talented. Tap dancers don't really get a lot of the spotlight today, and it is difficult to do. I'm blown away by this video.

Very cool! I thoroughly enjoyed their performance in Jerry Lewis' movie, "The Patsy". I researched a local historical site in Toledo, Ohio and discovered that The Step Brothers performed there in 1966. It was a supper club that had mob connections and regularly featured big name entertainers. Again...they are a joy to watch.

An old friend of mine introduced me to Maceo Anderson in a Mcdonald's restuarant in Las Vegas. Me, being much younger than the two of them I was totally unfamiliar with all that he accomplished during his extremely long and prolific career. My friend has since passed, as well as Mr. Anderson, but i can say i got to meet a legend that day.

The four step brothers used our Las Vegas home studio for practice. Macio taught my brother and sister and I a weekly lesson, but I loved it most when the whole gang came over. Prince taught me how to do a Monkey flip and to do a back flip from his hands. One of the step brothers was an artist and did a portrait of my brother Troy that hung in our home for years. Was your dad the artist?

@tapdancer1969 Cool story. Thanks for sharing the history. Those guys were really talented. I just saw "It Ain't Hay" from Abbott and Costello, and during the number "Glory Be", those guys are playing movers on a dock, dancing and one of the guys is dancing on top of a stack of boxes as they are unloading them! It was crazy. If you get a chance, check that out. I haven't seen it uploaded here and I was looking for it.
