I loved Anfield. The white boards along the Kemlyn road, no fences, the singing, the love of the opposition goal keeper and the jam packed all standing KOP. Those days are gone, but I still remember.

    Derby videos,
Another gem and another close contest. Great days for Derby with some great players going toe to toe with Liverpool. Great work on this channel-thanks!

Jack was at liverpool for four years,70 to 74 playing 15 games and scoring 7 goals. He is still alive aged 76.

Yes Simon, rare indeed. Jack's career was blighted by injury but he was a decent finisher. His second goal here was top quality. This was December 1971 and he scored two goals at Coventry the previous month but this was just about as good as it got for Jack. John O'Hare scored two in this game for Derby but only one of them appears here! Derby went on to pip Liverpool and Leeds for the Championship the following May. Drat.

I see Derby beat Liverpool 1-0 on the second last game of the season and went onto win the league by a single point. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be any footage of that game on youtube

I was a starry-eyed, soccer crazy 9 year old at the time. My favourite teams were the mighty Leeds and Blackpool where my family made their annual holiday to.

His career was cut short by injury at LFC. Pity as he was going like a train at the time.

Brilliant assist from Steve Heighway for the third goal. Now that IS an assist, rather than the technical expression it's become in the Premier League age.

Where the fuck was Derby's first goal? I heard him say 2-1 after on the stroke of halftime, but I wonder why they cut the first equaliser out.

Notice the total lack of arm-wrestling etc at corners...the beautiful game! Pittle poor defending by Derby though...not really sure what Clough saw in Hennessey for a big fee back then......

In April 1970 he was transferred to Liverpool for a sum of £57,000. In his time with Wednesday he scored 31 goals in 62 starts, an excellent record of a goal every other match.
Jack Whitham was signed by Liverpool as a potential replacement for Roger Hunt who had left to join Bolton Wanderers in December 1969. However, his injury problems continued and he failed to get an extended run in the team. The arrival of John Toshack at Anfield in November 1970 further hindered his chances of first team football. He did well towards the end of 1971 when he scored two late goals in an away win at Coventry City and then scoring a hat-trick in a home 3-2 win against Derby County on 11 December 1971. In four years he would play just 15 games for Liverpool, scoring seven goals.
Whitham eventually joined Cardiff City for the 1974-75 season
