    Cracking project Matt 😊
    Nice to see you using a sieve to draw the curve, and an old baking tray to drain the tung oil….. I just wished you’d used a pastry brush to brush the oil on too! 😂😂

  • @almagill
    @almagill Před 9 měsíci

    Now that's a lovely block Matt!
    The tung oil really brings the colour of the wood out.
    Just one suggestion, some little rubber feet to hold the block slightly off the surface. It'll help stop the dreaded dampness sneaking in and it'll create a nice shadow line under the whole object.
    All the best!

    Relatively simple but with the your own individuality. I like it. Those were big chunks of wood going through the table saw. I would have slowly raised the the blade but you are a braver man than I.

    Awesome. Check out an American furniture maker called Foureyes furniture. They make some brilliant sleds for their table saws to cut things at strange angles

    Nice build Matt. Suggestion for you to make a zero clearance throat plate, cutting those thin bits looked a bit close to getting trapped. Cheers Geoff

    That's a classy looking knife block Matt, and equally important the blades and your fingers are now well protected ! The subtle stripe from the alternating grain really makes the design work.
    Well done for thinking it through and coming up with a method for cutting the wedges that you felt safe and comfortable with, that's a good example to us all !

    That looks wicked Matt and perfectly timed as i am looking to make one for my own set. As an ex professional chef turned woodworker myself a also noticed you like me couldn't land one 1 brand spotted 3 different in that 5 block of knifes. 😀👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
