Under the drill is dead space so I had some storage to go under there.

Thanks for that recommendation I've already found it useful 🙂
A great idea you can also make a leather strap to go around the drill column to support the unit screw the leather either side of the column into the back of the unit
Thank you
Cool, I was going to suggest strapping as well.
Try a drain pipe bracket
Probably a popper in the middle would help
Inspirational! I have my small bandsaw on a cart on wheels, and just throw scrap timber into a plastic bin underneath.
I’ve often thought I wasn’t using the space to its best advantage, so you’ve given me a much better idea!
By chance someone on marketplace was giving away 2 low & wide wooden carts, with sliding plastic trays (like they, use in schools). So those are going to get chopped and repurposed as one tall slim cart, a bit like yours. You can never have too much storage in a workshop 😊😊
Besides your excellent woodworking and building, I am always struck by your videography. Just a small detail such as close up of tightening the castors on, you had your Badger sign in the shot, perfectly placed. Attention to everything is so impressive.
Thank you. That is much appreciated
I will second this comment. It is clear you are thinking about ways to keep the viewer engaged. Nice work as always, but some of the recent videos look like you stepped up your game a bit.
Hi Matt, that was a excellent idea for the drill stand and storage box/drawers, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👌👍👌👍
Thank you
Looks really smart and a good use of space.
Nice to see at 7:14 you have the same thoroughness for cleaning as I do!!
Haha I try
Add a tip chain to the back just for safety.
I'm surprised by myself, but I really like the look of the painted osb.
So do I
Just a suggestion Matt instead of nuts and bolts to fix castors try washer headed screws , i use them and never let me down. Btw nice build, wondered what colour bison wax came out like, don't think I'll bother. Geoff
Fantastic job carried out mate , great workmanship as always
Thank you very much
Those leather strap handles are simple, but effective and look awesome with the brass screws!
Thank you very much
Please may request a brush cleaning video. I find it such an arse to do and any tips welcome from a practical and considered chap like yourself 😊
Looks great
The side handles are genious.
Thank you
It is spring, moonless night in the small town, starless
and bible-black, the cobblestreets silent and the hunched,
courters'-and-rabbits' wood limping invisible down to the
sloeblack, slow, black, crowblack, fishingboatbobbing sea
Matt, I've watched most of your videos and have to admire your creativity and workmanship. Please keep it up!
Thank you very much
Great Video, I have basically the same thing on my drill press, I have yet to take it off to drill deeper. I find the space on top of the cabinet is great for storing my drill press vise.
Thank you. Yes I can’t believe I will need to remove it often
Really beautiful work, Matt! 😃
Organization is always a great thing!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you
Looks fantastic and the OSB looks great painted. You can’t beat a good workshop project
Thank you. I do like the painted look
Another interesting video Matt, many Thanks.
Thank you
More Great inspiration thank you
Brilliant. I did something similar, but used a hose clamp at the rear on the column and 2 slits to thread inside to secure it x 2 - worked well, but overall it looked 💩. Your one looks great, love the drawers shading after the wax polish 👍👍👍
thank you,
Nice. Maybe if the frame was made from pallet wood too, it would look good, plus it's even cheaper than O,S,B.
Excellent project, looks really neat and tidy. Just finished something similar, now to tackle the lifetime collection of parts and pieces that are in the 'just might need that sometime' boxes
We all have boxes like that.
Very nice build ! getting inspiration for my workshop. moving stuff into it this weekend !
Good luck setting it up
The textured surface of the OSB looks great when it's painted. The contrast between the paint and the oil/wax finishes look great. Nice useful project :)
Thank you very much
A nice project for the workshop Matt. you sorted out the mobility of the pillar drill and storage in a nice paint and stain finish, good job . Great video take care👍
Thank you very much
Hi Matt. You're the master of the use of space in your new workshop. Thanks for the journey and the inspiring ideas! Don.
Thank you Don
Mate this came out really nice I love the leather strap it's a really nice touch. Bisley drawers are one of my guilty pleasures I have about 8 all different sizes they're awesome
That sounds a good collection I am jealous
Nice one Matt, those leather loops are a great design touch. Readly link followed and subscribed 👍
Thank you very much
Hope u realise how lucky u are, even just having a workshop!!
Iam a keen diy woodworker/handyman, have to drag all my tools out everytime i do something.
Hardly got any room to work as well!!
Nice work Matt!
Thank you
Brilliant storage solution.
Thank you
I really like the ye oldie finish on the pallet wood draws
Thank you
Great work.
Could you have put fronts on the drawers to bring them out to the same depth as the bisley?
There's nothing like a nice workshop organisation project Matt, I'm planning something similar myself, although my Pillar Drill is bolted to the floor so the unit will have to be on castors independent of the drill !
Thank you
👍👍👍.Thanks
Thank you, Badger. For Americans, the Harbor Freight's Chicago Electric welding cart ($200) is perfect to mount a benchtop drill press on, provides lots of storage below and is mobile.
Thank you for this tip! I just picked one up with my 25% off coupon.
@@johnwkomdat Sure! Love mine.
Excellent project, looks really neat and tidy. what table saw do you have..
Nice job 👍😃
Thank you
Belle petite réalisation,bien pratique,bravo à bientôt salut Jeannot ⚒😉
Thank you
An excellent build. Fortunately (maybe unfortunately) I only have a bench top pillar drill so don't have the same storage underneath issue. I've always found the benchtop one to be sufficient as if I need to drill into longer pieces, I swivel the head of the drill 90° and have it work over the side of the bench top.
Thank you
That’s an interesting texture once that OSB is painted. It looks very modern but olde worlde, a stark dichotomy. 🇦🇺🎸⚡️🤘🏼🤘🏿💋❤️
I quite like the look
It’s quite stunning it sparks quite a few ideas
Must admit., you have a good eye for style. Not a fan of osb in general but you made it look quite cool.
Thank you
Nice job Matt. Great use of dead space. Win-win! What’s going where the drawers were?
Thank you. I’m not sure what the plan is yet
Nice job! Love how you use whatever is on hand to make useful things for the shop. Curious, do you think it possible to apply veneer to osb?
maybe to one surface. I think the edges harder
Nice job Matt, just wondering where you got your grooving blade from? I have the same saw and have been looking for one.

Enjoyed that. Is it possible to have a link for the grooving blade ? I have a Bosch saw like yours that needs a 256mm blade but I can only find the grooving blade in 180mm. Is 180mm good enough as grooves won’t be that deep ? Thx 🙏
It's the 180 I have. Never needed to go deeper

I wonder, don’t you need to secure the whole box with the machine itself? Will it fall off the base of the machine?
Really good job there Matt BUT it will be weighty to lift off and on . Greetings from Somerset (Where th Cider apples grow ) Bob (Weston super Mare).
Thank you. I might never need to move it
@@Badgerworkshop P'raps given your leather skills, a "dog collar" on the back around the shaft in case of fall forward. Bob.
Hi What table saw do you use in your shopping.👍
Great use of a wasted space!
Thank you
Any chance you could post the details of your flat tooth saw blade, cheers.

@badgerworkshop I’m looking to do similar with my vintage drill but I’m concerned about it’s stability when on the casters. When you didn’t have the storage draws on it, was it still secure? Thanks
Yes it seemed fine
Wondering why rebate the sides of the drawers rather than the front and back (to hide the ends of the sides).
That way when you pull you would be pulling the screws out. I knew I wanted to fill the draws with heavy item
Hi Matt. I’m wondering. I’ve seen Peter Millard make those style of drawers a couple of times but he always makes the rebates on the front for aesthetic reasons. Is there a reason you did it the other way round?
