Here are the supplies we used
    Ditra-Heat Kit 26.7 SF of Mat -- amzn.to/2XrsFRs
    Ditra-Heat Kit 37.5 SF of Mat -- amzn.to/2XBOrls
    Ditra-Heat Trowel -- amzn.to/2EGnlm2
    Schluter Kerdi Band -- amzn.to/2Eoryt1
    1/4" x 1/4" Square Notch Trowel -- amzn.to/2T8G5DF
    Schluter ALL-SET Mortar (Gray) -- amzn.to/2Tbly19
    -------------------------------------------------------
The first step is to read Schluter's Ditra-Heat manual to determine if your subfloor is properly installed.
Step two is to mix either modified thin-set mortar or Schluter's ALL-SET to a consistency that's recommended for Ditra-Heat.
Step three is to dampen the subfloor and burn the mortar into the subfloor using the flat side of a trowel. Then to directionally trowel the mortar such that all the trowel ridges face the same direction.
Step four us to compress Ditra Heat mats into the mortar and compress the trowel ridges by using a trowel or wood float over the top of the mat. Check coverage by pulling up one corner of the Ditra- Heat mat.

I can see where the Pre-Cut Ditra heat sheets would be very convenient for a small bathroom. Great video.

The mats are easier in small spaces versus rolls, much easier to handle

Great tutorial guys. Will be watching these one more time, before I do my bathroom this week. I liked the test for thinset coverage and advice on remixing. I bought the Schluter All Set thinset and will thoroughly read their instructions. I am hoping the waterproof mat will help keep water from reaching my mortar pan. Would it make sense to keep thinset away from the edges of the mat and apply a flexible latex caulk around the edges?

Good day to both of you . I would need help if possible . I put a SLC over my wood substrate . Primed it. It was naturally a disaster. I gringded/sand it . Naturally not flat but not bad. Question 1: could I use the modified thinset just to fill some of the gaps, leave it settle., then put my layer of thinset/Ditra heat? Question 2: do I need a primer to put over my SLC ??

Another good tutorial, some good tips! I am actually going to start a basement job with a washroom and the client requested heated floor, and was wondering if ditra has any major competition in cost with quality in mind?

Thanks Chris, there are other systems but we haven’t broken them down in terms of cost. Ditra Heat Duo is something to consider if you’re installing over concrete.

Love you guys! thank you! Do you have any instructional videos of applying ditra heat over a curbless shower? I'd like to use a Wedi system, or something similar, to create a curbless shower but also would like to heat the shower floor. Any ideas? thanks again

Not yet but that’s our plan. We recommend using a separate wire for the pan. That way if the main wire is compromised the pan area can still be heated. Schluter has a great video showing how to heat a curbed shower pan and the outside floor

2:19, WONG, you cannot use modified thinset with shluter products

I keep hearing different things on this but my understanding based on looking on the schluter website is that if it’s going under the mat it has to be unmodified.

I am currently installing ditra heat membrane over plywood and self leveler cement. The instructions on both the membrane and all set (modified) mortar, state that its the correct mortar to use.
