- Cap'n Fatty Goodlander is one of the most colorful characters on the high seas!! The Goodlanders have been cruising the world for well over 50 years and I used to read Cap'n Fatty's column in Cruising World magazine back in the day, when I was dreaming of setting sail. So when I saw him pop up on AIS when we pulled into South Africa I acted like a proper fan boy and asked if we could have a chat! The Goodlanders are pure awesomeness and embody what sailing the high seas is about. Hope you enjoy!

This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing and travel and adventure. But it's also a story about meeting amazing people and making life long friends. It's a story of people living their lives in an alternate way, in close connection with the beautiful people and amazing planet that we call home. Our experience has affected us so profoundly we want to share it, hoping that others may find inspiration to follow their dreams and do what they love.

My goodness, any true sailor would be in envy to sit and talk to these two. Jealous! They have more knowledge in their pinky finger than most people about the water and sailing. Thank you so much for the videos.
Wow, what an incredible storyteller! I am not surprised he found a double ender William's Atkin's design for 200, if any one could it would be him! I spent my teen years sanding, painting and varnishing my dad's Atkin's 36' double ender, a beautiful forest green, teak brightwork and tanbark sails. We would sail it only in the summer time and take her up through the San Juan's and into Canada.
Thanks immensely for posting this wonderful interview with my old friend and mate. It’s been twenty years since I’ve seen the rascal and he and Carolyn and Roma were a big part of my life 20 odd years ago.
What a treat. Discovered these at 2am. Stayed up way too late watching all six parts. Cap'n Fatty's sea stories are the best.
i did the same

Thank you SV Delos crew for publishing this interview. I am a fan of both Delos and the Goodlander’s. I have read their adventures in Cruising World for many years and followed your adventures over the past 4 years. I had hoped that one day you or they would meet and we would be part of that occasion. Thanks again.

Great Video....I love sailing...and all the people who are involved in sailing......tks guys
Thank you Delos crew, amazing people, great interview!
Thank you for a great set of videos. :) First class.
They are great! Thank you so much.
Love Capt Fatty. Just as entertaining as his articles. John Guzzwell and Fatty are the sailors I look up to the most, both with more knowledge and experience in their big toes than most sailors today. Thanks Delos for taking me along!!!!
Thumbs up if you are in NZ, chilling to this after work!
Awesome. Thank you
Had no idea that these last episodes would be so interesting. Good variaton :)
Best

OMG, the story's he could tell. Thanks for sharing. Def need to check him out!!
I agree with Gordo. Having read so many of his articles, watching these was a real treat.
I love Fatty! I've read all his articles as well, the man is a legend. Love that you guys met up with them. Great Video.
Wow these are great!
I always love all your interview episodes! You get the CZcams reputation of being the party boat but I've always watched because you guys are amazing sailors and love the people that you meet.
THANK YOU!
Great to hear Ramukanji!
Legendary, love it :D
What a fantastic fellow. Brian, this is you and Karin in 30 yrs.
Haha, we'll see!
Great series (1-6)
SPECTACULAR INTERVIEW!!! All 6 of them
This is one your best ever.
Wasn’t sure what to expect on this and almost went to bed but this was really fun to meet Capt’n Fatty.
Wow ! What an exciting interview. Love hearing the truth about what life is like while cruising because people think drinks at sunset everyday but sailing is very hard work and will not tolerate mistakes. People who buy these death trap over priced catamarans should go sailing on a full keel mono hull in 10 ' seas then get on a catamaran and u will be convinced that catamaran should be for day sailors. Thanks Delos for bringing these wonderful rel sailors to CZcams .
Sailboats are all monohulls, anything else is either a catamaran or a trimaran, and those are different sailing vessels altogether.
I agree thou, catamarans are death traps and have no place on an ocean.
like a kid meeting santa.
nice work as always guys.
i'm no real sailor but i'm an internet sailor so i found this very interesting.
Best videos and interviews

Great guy thanks for introducing.
Hey! I took that picture!

That thumbnail tho... 🤣

That guy is the Keith Richards of sailing.
Haha I live in Pensacola!!
Hahaha that thumbnail cheeky
I was sailing to Bermuda when I was halfway there and had to advert and go North 120 miles and had to beat in 35 knot winds and 15' seas for 35 hrs to rescue a couple on a big Lagoon new catamaran. Their starboard rudder had broken off and they could not steer and I let managed to get them aboard and the guy was going nuts cussing the catamaran and calling it a piece of s**t and was going to sue the maker. The woman vowed to never step aboard another boat as long as she lived. The couple argued all the way to Bermuda and stepped off my boat and said. " oh thanks for your help. And walked fast off the boat.
Holy shit are you serious? Wow man, If you have a blog or something would love to read about this. Fair Winds and keep sailing! Brian
I'm about to have a Durban chicken curry... so ... fitting.
Hi, i read a story a few years back about a sailing husband and wife who sailed the world for 30 years and upon returning home a few miles from the shore the got into trouble and the coastguard had to rescue them by putting them overboard, they lost their yacht and all of their hard drives and everything they had collected over the 30 years at sea very sad. i have lost the story and was wondering how they are doing? did they recover their belongings? does anyone know the story? could you link it to me? thank you
Trader Johns too
In a gentle way, you can shake the world. - Mahatma Gandhi (according to the internet). Thank you, Delos!

The mouths and the words don't line up. That is the problem with auxiliary mics.
Nice interview, although that thumbnail is slightly click baitish, at least for the senior crowd.😀
Ha Ha couldn't agree more but after the interview I asked them to send a few pics through. This one was entitled "Anchoring can be fun too!" After spending some time with these guys you can totally get their sense of humor. I just had to use it because it made me smile to much :) Brian
