Most of the women were writers and comedians and wrote the jokes. They all had high praise for Ed O'Neal. He was very nice and respectful towards them, and greatly appreciated them being such good sports.

Remember, even back then in the 1990s, the show was popular exactly because it exaggerated with all settings to eleven. Its intent wasn't to depict everyday life.
It's similar to people who misread the Tyler Durden character from »Fight Club« as the based hero.
Tyler is not the hero. Al is not the hero. They are clowns.

It left when the political correctness came in and no one said screw the political correctness and then the BLM and LGBTQ rolled in and finished ruining good TV just to force thier garbage down people's throats till the smat people started going out and buying thier favorite shows and canceling thier cable

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.

One of the BEST SITCOMS EVER MADE. When you understand the narrative of the show from debut till last season, its genius
I'm not so high on season 1. It was pretty meh in season 1. To me season 2 got way better and season 3 was gold. My favorites are probably the first few Jefferson seasons.
@@michaelwahl7810 Yeah, we didn't know where the show was going in the 1st season, Al and Peggy was so in love the 1st season đ€Ł.
The 2nd best behind M.A.S.H
You also gotta appreciate Al's faithfulness. He hates Peg almost as much as he hates his job, but he's never cheated on her, even when opportunity came knocking.
@@LucianDevine Right, stayed for the kids, gave his whole check to Peg, kept $1 for himself and the strip club đ. Stand up guy but miserable
Here's the thing. Al Bundy had many issues. But he worked everyday at a thankless low paying job. He made sure his family never went without regardless of how disrespected he was. Never abusing his kids, cheating on his wife, and loyal to his friends, why is he considered so bad? Because he said all of the things people want to today but are too scared of anonymous keyboard warriors? I took my lessons from Al. My wife and I have been married almost 30 years. Our 3 kids all graduated college. Seems Al had all the right things to be a good father, husband, and man after all.
It is implied he starves them a little lol
Those were the good old days! Offense came on every show, and people understood it was comedy!đ
ikr? Archie Bunker was an open racist and many of the jokes were built around that.
@pigpuke Yes, and so was George Jefferson, and people weren't offended. They were entertained! If Al Bundy was out now, Fox network would have been sued one hundred times over for body shaming!đ
Back then was glorious because you could have shows like this.

Fat is a word that I will say as much as I want to!
I don't know why they think that you can't say "fat" anymore. You definitely can.

One of the greatest sitcoms of all time
This show still runs in syndication, so it's not entirely off the table.
For a little bit of history, I was around when this show first released, back in '87 I believe, and it was extremely controversial back then as well. The difference is in today's world, this wouldn't make it on FOX today, but it was one of the staples that helped launch that network. At the time, we only had ABC, NBC and CBC, FOX was the fourth network and this show's ratings were off the charts, no way it would have been canceled, although people tried, even back then. lol
Yes they did. Some wacko lady from Michigan went on a personal crusade to get the show taken off the air. She made a lot of noise, but all she did was bring the show into the spotlight and generated attention sending it soaring up in the ratings.
We can all guess the body mass of those people đđ€Ł
Al Bundy intimidated thugs and bullies by being absolutely fearless. He truely had nothing to lose!
Al's best line ever...
Peggy bounces in front door saying,, did you miss me Al?!?!?

Ahh the good old days. When people knew what a joke was & could have a good laugh.
I grew up watching married with children and here in the UK it didn't start until midnight so I'd rush home from the pub and watch it and always looked forward to it, it's just a classic piece of American humour at its best đ
Iâm an American who was a teenager in 1987 when âMarried With Childrenâ began and it was THE show everyone was talking about (lots of people loved it, lots of people hated it). I was amazed when my relatives in Sweden and Australia began calling me to tell me they were watching it too, because lots of American shows didnât get shown in other countries back then, or they got shown years later. When it was shown in Sweden it was shown with In English with Swedish subtitles, which is how the Scandinavian countries do it. The funniest time seeing the show was when I went to Japan and âMarried With Childrenâ was on several times a day at all hours. In Japan they have Japanese actors do the voiceovers in Japanese, and they talk VERY fast. Hearing and seeing Al Bundy insult fat women Japanese was absolutely hysterical!
@@Mike-rk8px lol that's brilliant i can imagine the Japanese and being dubbed over at the time it was only one of two American shows that were being shown in the UK the other one was also brilliant called soap I'm sure that you've watched it again another bit of American humour that was brilliant đ»đ

I grew up with this type of stuff and it's never been this hilarious. I quit watching TV 20 years ago, but this older stuff still holds water.
I used to work at Thom Mcan as a teenager and then at a women's shoe store in midtown Manhattan NYC and can definitely relate. Some ladies came in asking for size 7 when they were obviously an 8.5 - hilarious; we used to stretch lots of shoes.

This was an awesome show. No a show like this would never be allowed on tv today. At least we still have the reruns.
There are shows that are WAY more brutal. South Park, Family Guy, Letterkenny... The only complaints I ever hear are people complaining about this apparent cancel culture.

My favorite part of the show was that you were watching a very dysfunctional family but at the end of the day you always knew they would stick up for each other against outsiders if any Bundy got attacked, scammed or betrayed. It didn't matter if it was Al, Peggy, Kelly or Bud. If you weren't a Bundy at least one other member would come for your ass to show them that you should never mess with a Bundy

Political correctness came into fashion at the same time TV and comedy began to suck. It's a very fascist-type movement in the land of the free.
