Heyyyyy-Heyyyy-yaaa 2024
When I first heard Ryan sing this song, I was homeless after my children were taken by the state. I didn't have anything left in me to fight but I wasn't ready to give up. Here I am 15 months later, I signed a lease for an apartment for a year with enough room for my children. I still see them three times a week and Im fighting harder than I ever have for them. I managed to keep employment even though I lived in my car for 5 months. Thank you for your help to inspire me through this song and ur music.
Update: My 6 year old with be back in my custody full time on October 20, 2020. I have been fighting so hard but its so worth the fight. He has been with me 4 days a week.I'm still fighting for the others and it shouldnt be long. Thank you for all the positive comments. I really appreciate all the love and support. For you assholes that said negative comments or said I was a junkie, it was actually because of their father. He was an alcoholic, I had no choice but to leave my children with him while I went to work! DCF was notified that my children were in the care of an alcoholic and they were taken the next day. Its been about 2 years and I'm closer than ever to getting my children back ❤
Amazing!!! Good momma .... get your babies and never look back!!! Proud of you. Much love... ♡
Me too, same situation. Lost my kids to the state and I'm fighting to get them back, and I've been listening to this song over and over. It has helped so much. So I know whatcha mean
I am going through the same thing. I know exactly how all of you feel. Absolutely loves Upchurch's version of this song ❤
Darcy Rose Wilson keep fighting, never give up.

Always brother
That tribute at the beginning speaking for us southern folks is such a true statement that ppl forget about grunge music. I was raised in it im 32, all 90s music was such a gift. Were the last of them buddy
I truly wish I coulda experienced the 80s-90s so bad man.
Nothing to do with the south. Us up north in Indiana grew up on this
Yall are already implied. I was talking about it being nice for someone to recognize how big it was in our area as well
So you were 8 when the 90's ended? You even remember it? It was my favorite era that's for sure. I was out singing in bands and drinking and getting wild in the 90's, but I'm a tad older. Either way it was a great era non the less and I
I'm glad you like it too and got to experience what you did!
It's just a backwoods thing my man. I was raised in the country in the Midwest and we also jam out to everything in between.
Used to listen to this song years back when I had nothing, fishing to catch food, struggling all around and now I sit here with a job finally, bills are paid and no more drugs listening to this song with a smile because I pulled through
Hell yeah, keep walking that line
God bless you brother
I know I don't know you but I'm proud of you . Keep knocking down those walls .

I am 39yrs old, I totally understand what your saying. These songs I lived , loved, and made memories to growing up!
Oh how I wish, I could just have some of that feeling back that these songs bring out in me! A Time, A place, A smell, A memory.... When you close your eyes and your there again.. you see the past, your living it for a split second. You can get lost in it, but then you open your eyes and realize "that was a piece of the good world, the good life, you'll never be there again or have those feelings the exact way again. When a writer and a song can Rush your body, full of emotions and bring that out in you WOW.! Job well done!

My dad was my best friend. He passed away on May 8, 2010 to an overdose. I was 17. Today, July 16, 2018 would be his 53rd birthday.
He loved Layne Staley, and I grew up around this music playing constantly: we lived outdoors for the most part; camping, hiking, fishing, etc. His last few years, he lived in a trailer park in Snohomish, WA, and I was away from him mostly because of my mom.
But when I was with him, we spent so much time around the fire at the river, with our fishing poles in the water, our Mexican buddies lighting up joints, all of us just having a blast. Every time I hear this song I'm instantly brought back to the river, to the bonfires, to a comforting memory of my father holding me closely as a teenager, a kid.
I really love this.

I can hear the love and respect that Church feels for Staley come across in Church's voice with this cover. Not to be presumptuous but maybe even the sadness...ya know...I don't know, I can't say.
But I can say that cover was an excellent idea executed perfectly. Nice.

Layne would probably come up and shake your hand and say thank you. Thank you for keeping real music ALIVE! I'm coming up on my 1 year celebration of recovery from IV Heroin and Fentanyl and this song is what got me through the worst of my detox and mental battle for months after getting clean. I know. I don't even hate people using pitch correction. It's used subtly to correct minor intonation issues on virtually every studio recording for decades now. What I hate is there are so many people who somehow don't hear it even when it's aggressive as hell like this. It can be used artistically, but this is an example of it being used to try to make someone who can't sing sound like they can.@@whatabouttheearth

This song truly touches the very tiny soft spot in my mind! 2024!
Sitting at Chipotle jaming this song full blast in the parking lot!!!
Upchurch brother, please keep covering Alice in Chains, you have the perfect voice for it.
Please don't.
John Doe no doubt! best cover of this song EVER!!!
+Sawtooth_Jack Lol yep, definitely found the hater. Wow you're really just trolling all of the comments on Upchurch's songs? Wow how pathetic. Seriously, get a life dude. Your OWN life. Stop worrying about other so much.
John Doe fo sho!!!
Life is so lonely when you have no one to have your back or to confide in
You have yourself. Who else do you need?
@@evanpl0x it'll only get you so far. Sometimes we all need at least one person to support us and give us a moment to express what's going on in our mind. When you feel separated from people and felt misunderstood, it's nice to have one person to help not feel so alienated.
@@The513Warning I do not disagree with your comment. I do however think it is important to point out that sometimes the people you trust can end up hurting you and you may feel as if "my gift of self is raped" like the lyric in the song. The tragedy of the human condition is needing to have other people there for you but in the end realizing that it was only you all along.
@@evanpl0x I know that feeling all too well, especially being an INFJ type. Helping others get ahead simply leaves you behind a lot of times. I wish I had someone get excited about me moving ahead with my goals and hobbies as I do with those that I trusted. It's unfortunate really.
Damn right bubba
6 years later and this still hits
upchurch is on a whole different level
