  • Here is my new Touchdesigner Tutorial about 3D Rendering with Buffers.
    I know I've already shared a project file about this topic, but many of you are still asking me some questions about the process. A tutorial is probably the best way to explain everything.
    This knowledge was learned in my past experience, about 10 years in Animation Movies & VFX Industry : the use of render passes to tweak the 3d renders and get the final result.
    I tried to adapt very common compositing techniques in precalculated workflow to the world of realtime images.

    In the tutorial you use a .fog file, it appears, to make the model load instantly. I'm a bit confused on which type of files can / canno't be used. Appreciate the creativity of your channel !

      How to know which file formats contains what buffers ?

    • @b2bk
      @b2bk  Před rokem +3

      Thanks for your words. You can use any formats of 3d object, really... Obj, fbx, ply. All the buffers are created at render level, not before, so the format doesn't matter.

      and also can u give a hint how can I guess if 3d model got normal map or not, none of free 3d models got normal map texture from sketchfab except your example...

    Amazing tutorial as always.
    There's one thing i'm currently not understanding about the camera viewport, i see that you can interact with the camera positioning in the right panel, i'm trying as well, but nothing moves, what am i doing wrong?

    • @b2bk
      @b2bk  Před rokem +2

      Hello. CameraViewport can be a bit tricky at first. The PanelCOMP parameter should be filled with a container (= a panel). The two dots mean the parent container (the one that contains all this network). In the parent container, you also need to activate middle and right click interaction. Go at 3:15 on my pointcloud tutorial and you'll see this part.

    Reflection, Refraction, coatings, transparency, and grain are sadly not supported, fog is really bad implemented, and what about shadows??? 😢 or soft shadows…. I usually make my own light in GL or render somewhere else. Of course for a realtime render is kind of good, but just look at unreal or omniverse.. those are realtime photorealistic. Here the render techniques is like of early 1990. So yeah no excuses but you can do what you can… for the rest you need path tracing.

      Love your comment. You're right, render engine is quite limited.. But yeah, we do our best with what we have.
