- This video has many glitches but it is such a precious documentation of a musical in need of revival that I still want to share it. Marla Schaffel won multiple awards playing Jane Eyre, including a Drama Desk. Her voice possesses a spiritual beauty and strength as Jane should. The seductive baritone of James Barbour, current star of Broadway's Phantom of the Opera is legendary and he made Edward Rochester one of his signature roles. In addition to two good actors with outstanding voices, this show has an exquisite score, and is directed with a rich and chilling ambiance. A beautiful cast album is available of the show also, I listen to it everyday.

Jane Eyre is my all-time favorite story. I saw Jane Eyre The Musical in NYC in 2000 with the original cast. I absolutely loved it! I still enjoy listening to the score. Thank you for posting these videos. They bring back so many wonderful memories. This show definitely needs a revival!
I enjoyed watching this - James Barbour has a great voice and I thought the whole cast did a beautiful job - but at risk of stating the obvious I do have to point out that about a third of Act I is missing. Still, thanks for sharing what you could find with us!
Jen Murphy Thank you for your compliments on the cast. Yes unfortunately about the first 25 minutes of prologue of Jane at Lowood was not shot by the filmmaker. On youtube there are some school productions available I think if you would like to see this part. While I would have loved to have heard the song Forgiveness, I think 2 hours of remaining video is still pretty good. ;)
