Yes I agree. But we need to investigate to ensure it does not happen again. Remember communication is very important during a natural disaster.

This is a good observation and advice. One of the few deaths we had in Jamaica is attributed to a young lady venturing out of her home during the storm to check on her internet connection. A tree fell on her killing her instantly. This happened in Hanover and now a family of young children are left without a mother and a husband heartbroken.

Most of the lines are above ground in Jamaica. The government should look into burying utility lines in the future. It would make our utilities more harden and theft resistant. But for now lets thank god that we made it out with minimal damages.

Towers are more or as vulnerable to wind damage during a hurricane...I mean,it's a hurricane man!! Towers are usually at the highest points in any location, and open to high wind damage.
The quick, or asap restoration service is another question, but, when hirricane wind blow and damage precision equipment on a tower, or most times blow down a whole tower, what can you do.
Also, remember that towers communicate with each other to facilitate cell calls and communication, and also capture data, manage and transmit some of these calls through land lines sometimes when another repeater tower is not nearby, or to handle high traffic btw towers.
So, when a tower goes down, it may be the only one of few in that area, but it affects the transmission bc it's part of a needed network/chain of towers. One down, most down or all down.
The cables that run and carry some data from these towers are damaged, so any tower or cable damage can cause serious interruptions.
Take it from someone who spent 15yrs in IT/Internet service provision and telecommunications.

Thanks for the info. During previous hurricanes the service was available, that's why we are asking the question about this one
