    All great stories involve Pirates and this is no exception. I’ve never seen so many engineered design changes on one aircraft. This has to be one of your top five interviews and aircraft. You can spend more money but can you get the performance you desire, love the this STOL Swamp Monster! What a plane.... what an engineer!

    What a colourful character and a very clever one too,pushing the boundaries of add-on's to his great airplane that he really enjoys on a daily basis,there are not many pilots out there who can log 4 to 5 hours a day that is excellent untilisation for any machine.
    Love the unusual flaps and unusual additional elevators,note how everything is 'bolt on' meaning he can always revert back to how it was,this is a true experimental machine,more power to you Tony and many more happy days flying.

    I told Tony for months to start a CZcams channel. People needed to see we have back country flying east of the Mississippi. This man has forgotten more about airplanes and flying than the average Pilot will ever learn. He flys more time in a week for fun than a lot of Pilots do for a living. He makes a $20k Aircraft do more than these guys with $300k Carbon Cubs. This is what experimental Aircrafts are all about. Being at one with the machine. Congratulations Tony. I hope this helps gain you some subscribers. You deserve it buddy, And great interview Brain...

      Your encouragement and support as well as from many others are truly what I owe this channel too. I would never have done this .otherwise, I would have just kept flying in my little neck of the world and enjoying myself.

      The Swamp Monster people needed to hear your story. And they needed to see that you can do back country flying without spending $200-$300k. This interview only touched the surface of your flying experience. You need to do a Tony Zorn history video on your channel. I know people want to know more about the Pirate that tamed the Monster. I know there is a long history there. I’m happy your channel is growing so fast. You deserve it buddy..

      That sounds nice and all, but there is NO WAY in Hello that that thing "out performs a Carbon Cub". You are in a Dream world my friend. The ONLY reason he "out performs a Carbon Cub", is because the people in those Cubs you're referring to, can't fly them. Again, nice story and all, but it's time to come back to reality!!! OK?

    • @theswampmonster4126
      @theswampmonster4126 Před 3 lety +7

      Scotabot re-read river rats post. He said the guy makes a $20,000 airplane outperform expensive $300,000 carbon cubs . He never said the cheaper plane has the performance of the carbon cub. But, I would love invite any of the carbon cub owners or pilots to come play in my sandbox. Would love to have them follow me around for a day. Even the most experienced Carbon cub pilots have an open invitation. 😎
      It is a lot like aerobatics competition. You got a lot of pilots flying half million extras getting their tails handed to them by Little 30 and $40,000 pitts’s and one designs. Truly it is all up to the pilot. In a lot of cases. But, with all things being equal in the cockpit (pilots) an experienced pilot could make a carbon cub do more that the monster can, especially high altitude stuff. But there are very few carbon cub drivers that have the capability to match the monsters driver.

    1100 hrs in 2 years. For those that don't know, that qualifies as A LOT, I only get on average 200, most get about 50 hours a year. You forgot one thing Tony, that lets a pilot get the most out of any airplane....lots of time in it, getting every bit of performance available out of it. You have the Monster totally wired.

    Great video. Man, I love your channel and the plane showcases that you do, but this is a bit of constructive (I hope) criticism: sometimes somebody will talk to you about something in the video, that you haven't framed in the shot. Usually you catch it and edit-in an image (or video clip) of it shortly afterwards, and that works fine, but sometimes you miss it, like the tailwheel in this case. It looks to me like your instinct is to always keep the person talking to you in the shot -- clearly a good idea! But a quick shot (or a wider shot) to include the item discussed, should help immensely. If there's something I'm missing, like a limitation of the camera or lighting etc, I apologize! Please keep up the good work!

    Nice interview! I've had a set of Pusher plans I dream over every once and a while to get some affordable fun flying.
    Was this built with wood frame or steel tubing? I understand the steel fuselage can manage 5 or 10 knots higher speed.
    Flying in northern IL, WI., I definitely would want to expand your canopy for winter flying. Any words of wisdom?
    I heard you put on a 90 hp engine. Any comment on the small Corvair engine for inexpensive power?

    • @ExperimentalAircraftChannel
      @ExperimentalAircraftChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      You can find him on FB and VIMEO if you want to speak to him directly of course. This is a steel fuselage and wood wing design. Classic Airframe Construction. I believe the plans have suggestions for several different engines including Franklin. Not sure on the Corvair. But there have been talks of using the Corvair. The engine would be within the weight tolerances etc. Reach out to the family who is still selling the plans to discuss. Here is the video/interview with them: czcams.com/video/3rjvbAiRIDo/video.html
