Hi Christina! Hope you are all well ☺️ The little guidance for writing is what sometimes niggles with us too. “Work on your writing assignment for 15 minutes” doesn’t work for my eldest. Otherwise, though, we’ve really enjoyed the levels we have completed so far and my youngest is really enjoying her levels too. We have been supplementing writing with Writing with Skill by Susan Wise Bauer and that has been an excellent fit for us, taking it at half pace - it is very thorough and concise in its expectations and marking schema. Initially it looked a bit dense and scary but the excerpts are fantastic and we have followed up a few by reading the whole books afterward. I was wondering, do you feel that it is necessary to complete GatB level 6 LA before level 7? The content of level 7 appears to be a far better fit for us for the coming year and pre-test wise it’s fine but feeling a bit anxious that we might miss something. Is your son moving onto some of the literature studies next? Best wishes, Hanna 😊

Thanks, I will look that program up. Skipping the level will mean missing out on some geography and stories but go with your gut.

For your next child do you think you will supplement the writing or is it enough for level 7?

I don't think I will supplement but if I find something great but simple I may.

Hello! What box and dividers do you use for the Grammar & Geography cards?

It's a container from the dollar store and the dividers are binder dividers I cut down to size.

    Hi,
Would this work for 8th grade? I’ve heard that it is one grade level ahead. Thanks for your help!

I had my son use it and he was in grade 8. Definitely take the placement assessment on their website though.

Are you still using the good and the beautiful for language arts?

I am! I am looking for something to fill in a bit of grade 8 for one child but otherwise, yes.
