    In this DIY project video we are going convert a car alternator to a permanent magnet alternator.
    In the previous project we built a wind turbine out of a truck alternator. Not a big sucess as these alternators are not made to work at slow speed. One of the soultion we though of is to replace the traditional rotors with permanent magnet one as they not only need energy to magnetize but envolves a bunch of inefficient components like carbon brushes and slip rings.
    So in this project video we are going to conver a 12v car alternator into a permanent alternator to act as a generator or a powerful brushless motor, time to find out so lets get started.
    More information about the material and designs visit the instructables article:

      Converting a car alternator to produce free energy is not entirely free. The free energy must be a collapsing Ether field producing electrical transients. Turning car generators into windmills is not entirely free either. However, the cost of converting a car alternator to produce free energy is very low, and the benefits are great.

    Nice video! Reduce the battery voltage if you want to decrease losses, the stator windings of an alternator are designed to operate at high currents / low voltages if you use high voltages you will need to increase the frequency in the inverter to increase the speed and thus the back emf. If the inverter does not reach such high frequencies all you are doing is waste the energy heating the windings. So you can add a higher load to increase efficiency using high voltage or if you want to run the motor with no load you need to decrease voltage to increase efficiency.

    there IS a load on the motor: the propeller. it is doing work to move air and thus draws power, even if it is stationary. This explains the RPM as well: if you were running at no load then you would be close (ignoring internal motor friction/losses) to the max RPM, but because torque is being applied to the motor you need high current in the winding so the RPM (and back EMF) has to reduce to allow for the current.

    • @kingcosworth2643
      @kingcosworth2643 Před 2 lety

      I think the main problem is their rotor design. With low magnetic coupling, back emf is low so current is high. Plus it been an all steel 'ring' the induced magnetic field in the rotor will be doing all sorts of unwanted things. The motors in the Tesla's are a full induction motor with no magnets in the rotor, the specific shape of the steel rotor gets an induced magnetic field in it which becomes the repulsive magnet, quite clever actually.

    For a permanent magnet synchronous motor the ideal supply voltage at any given rpm will be about the same voltage as what the motor would generate if spun at that same rpm. At the ideal voltage the motor current will be in phase with the voltage and the power factor will be highest and the current draw the lowest.
