5:15 After much researching, it really put into perspective for me as to how Wonder Woman wasn't the first superheroine. I suppose I should now list all of the Golden Age supeheroines that I came across:

1953 - Sri Asih, Zina of Koroka
1954 - Princess Bintang (aka Putri Bintang), Tomboy
Amazing research!
Looking at that list, I simply must find a copy of Golden Girl (Timely Comics) and do a review on it. I know zero about the comic, but I just know there's a Golden Girls joke to be had.
As an aficionado from north of the border, I'm beyond impressed by the inclusion on your list of Nelvana, Wing and Polka-Dot Pirate -- products of the short-lived Canadian comics industry that filled the void created by war-time embargo of U.S. books.
Eighty or so years later, with a reopened market long flooded by American publications, it's sad that most Canadians -- comic lovers or not -- have no idea who these heroines are.
Captain Marvel will always be my favorite superhero. Fun fact: Captain Marvel was the first superhero to fly.
I thought it was Namor?
So detailed! Thank you for posting this gem. This was fun to hear and see.
I also have two others on the History of the Silver Age and the Bronze Age. You'll like those ones, too!
Agreed. Informative, well-scripted, and clearly spoken. And bonus - no cheesy or over-the-top music. Well done.
Great video! And great tidbit about how Namor got his name. I guess that's where Rob Liefeld got the inspiration for naming his Extreme Universe character Roman, who appeared in the pages of Brigade.
Would enjoy to see videos on the subsequent comic era's. Keep up the entertaining work!
Glad you enjoyed it, Darwin! I have a few more planned for the future to highlight some lesser known companies.
I'm just getting into the Golden and Silver Ages of comics. Before, I mainly collected modern age (DC Rebirth, mostly). But now, I'm going back and getting older volumes from the 90s and the earliest stories.
I love the 90's stuff from Image and Marvel, though there is also some amazing Batman stuff from then, too. Also really love the 1960s Elseworlds stories featuring Superman.
2:17 was Funny Weekly with Submariner never published? I think Namor doesn't appear to the public until Marvel Comics #1 dropped in August of 1939 (Oct. cover date). It's cool that they were set to debut the same month.
YEAH MAN!! Comics friggin rule!
Captain Marvel first appeared in Whiz # 2 not #1 #1 was an ash can for copy trademark purposes which never hit the stands.
Excellent info, Ben!
Only intellectuals know thor first comics came out 700 years ago
Haha! True!
200th like. Woooooootttt 👍
Great vid by the way.👍
Thank you, sir! Plenty more still to come!
Green arrow?
Wonder Woman isn't the first female superhero, even for DC.
A lot of the details in this video are wrong. Dude did not do all of his home work.
Correct. Dude did not.
Too short. But Very nice and informative. Love golden age comics
We could definitely make an eight hour documentary about just the Golden Age!
Crypto Comics that would be awesome.
