  • Hull is a City of two halves, connected by bridges over the River Hull. The current Drypool Bridge (named after the hamlet of Drypool on the East side) is a Scherzer lifting bridge that opened in 1961, replacing an earlier one that opened in 1889.
    The bridge was painted to celebrate the mathematician John Venn (1834 - 1923) who devised the Venn diagram, and born in Hull, as part of the city's tenure of the UK City of Culture 2017 -2020.

      Oh because I recognize one of the other bridge that you looked at for like 2 seconds and it looked like the bridge in great Yarmouth

    Classic 60s architecture, they don't build them like that anymore...I'm fairly sure I've seen the design of the outer railings somewhere local

      The bridge railings are fairly recent, as there has been a few people go over them accidentally, so the height was increased
