if you are in the market for a new laptop I would recommend an ASUS due to how they are manufactured now compared to HP, Dell, Gateway, etc today. Worked for me. Thank you very much sir. I have to say I was very lucky to have another identical model with which to borrow a 50% charged battery for the BIOS flash otherwise the fix would almost have been too much trouble.
My favourite part was where you picked your nose and ate it in the reflection of the screen at the start.

The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the perf ormance to match the power available. Please connect a Dell 90 H AC adapter or greater for the best system performance. Strike the F3 key (before F1 or F2 key) if you do not want to see power warning message again. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility
You solve this problem
You shouldn't need to buy a new battery to perform the BIOS update. When you try to install the new BIOS and your battery isn't at the acceptable charge level you can still make it install by using the command prompt and add the "/forceit" parameter at the end of the file name.

your battery has experienced a permanent failure and needs to be replaced

1. (You can skip this step) to really know if your battery is bricked or your computer is messing up, go to bios settings on advanced options (F11) and look for tre battery. If it said "Battery permanent damage" then its broken
2. If you wished to skip step 1 and you fully decided that your battery is bricked, simply remove them from your laptop (see steps in yt). Then you are fine you can buy a new one

In my case I was using an hp charger on dell. When I went back to dell problem cleared up
fixed my laptop, had to replace motherboard and order another dell adapter, as you say, be weary of knocked off chinese adapters from ebay. they don`t work!!!!

Hello, i have a dell mini 1011, and i have problems keeping the computer on, it turns off automatically after a couple of minutes.
i have the battery message, and i know the battery to be bad, but i have have the doubt if the dell mini will turn on with only the AC adapter plugged in, or if it does requiere a battery to be present. could you do this test and tell me if your dell mini powers up with only your ac adapter plugged in (without battery present) ? thankyou.
forgot to mention my dell mini will turn on, ONLY if both are present. ac adapter and the bad battery, but as far as i know laptops should power on and stay on with only the charger present.

Bios update with new battery worked for me (new battery arrived with 50% juice). Interestingly, I switched to the old battery and the problem came back but the new battery didn't work either. So I had to flush the Bios again and the problem was fixed.

you cannot install a BIOS without a minimum charge on the battery, so if you can't charge your battery, no BIOS update.

Mine had this problem, I was just using my laptop and it lost power all the sudden and turned of then when I had it plugged in I turned it on, gave me the the warning that the battery is disabled but as I was using it w/o battery to try and fix for no reason the battery started working.

Mine says "No battery detected". I looked at my bios and it says "Not a dell battery". By the way, it was grayed out so I couldn't change or do anything for it. For the record, this is the same battery I had since the beginning. It worked before. No issues. Now one day, out of the blue, issues.

Unfortunately no. I don't have the money to get it fixed professionally. And I'm not confident nor smart enough to poke around. So I've just popped the battery out and run it on plug-in power. Kinda sucks because I can't move around. =\

In my case, I own a very large and heavy Dell Alienware computer which I rarely move-around anyway.

Updated to Windows 10; Apparently Dell does not support this OS on the Inspiron N7010 therefore the available BIOS update is for 7 & Vista only. So I'm wondering, is purchasing a new battery pointless?

Recommending someone return a battery after using it to fix your bios issue is bad advise. Why should someone on Ebay have to pay to fix your problems?
Instead, don't be a cheap ass, and just keep the battery instead of sticking them with a used battery they now can't sell and making them eat the shipping for the return because of no fault of their own. You would pay much more than the $10 plus you paid for the battery to take it to a repair tech anyway, and you would have a spare battery or if that battery had any age on it, you could harvest the cells and use them for a powerpack or vape pen.
The seller wouldn't be out anything because if you fill out the form correctly you have to pay for the shipping both ways. Most people will see it's smarter just to keep the battery anyway and use it as a spare.

I get the Dell warning at bootup and after booting the OS, the battery icon in the system tray shows a 61% charge. If I unplug the AC adapter, it instantly kills power and my computer shuts off even though the battery's showing a 61% charge. Any idea, based on these factors, what could be going on?

Type "Dell mini 910 drivers into Google Search. The very first link should be Dell's website with the exact download you to do. Just verify the address that it is dell.com. Then download the newest Dell Bios update. Hopefully your battery is at least half way full. If it is lower it may not take the download.
It died 1% the latest bios is A07 or A09 i have installed but still doesnt work. I saw a video about the plug been bad or the battery itself i saw on ebay external battery charger for $80 which im not going to get

Your solution doesn't work as my new battery is completely flat. With a ribbon connector on this slim computer I could probably work out the connection but that's plain hassle.
Dell shouldn't be allowed to lock me out of My Lattitude 13 but it's the reason I've never ever bought Dell before, I should have kept to my policy of 20 plus years. The laptop is old but works fine for my requirements.
A genuine Dell battery is £60 UK sterling and a knock off is £15, no contest.

I have a Dell inspiron 8200, 2002. The batteries charge, however when they're put into the computer, it senses 0 percent left and right battery. The computer takes 2 batteries, so you can have one or the other and I've got 3 batteries, they're all charged up to 100 (shown on battery) but it senses 0 and won't be powered on by battery?
