- Here's an interview I conducted with film director Ken Russell back in 2009 for the DVD release of his film Lisztomania. The interview was originally on our getcloser.com website but I've now put the full version online here at youtube.
Ken talks about the film Lisztomania and about his career including working with Oliver Reed, The Devils and much more.
Ken Russel was a wonderful Director, and I had the pleasure of working with him on Valentino, and he was so caring towards me as a 16 year old on the set of the funeral parlour scene. I was selected to be a screaming fan in that scene, and today you can still hear my scream! My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. R.I.P.
Sadly forgotten in his later years...but he was and always will be one of the world's great film directors...an artist and still greatly missed.
A great director and a true visionary. This is a good interview, but Ken seems tired and a little bit sad too. RIP, you ol' scoundrel.
One of my favorite directors. I actually had the chance to meet him in New York a few years ago and unfortunately things didn't work out. Lisztomania is a fantastic movie. Underrated and misunderstood. Thanks for putting this up!
great interview. I only wish there were more interviews of him, and more in depth, like this. He's what, 100 years old? We should pick his brains while we have the chance!
Excellent interview! Thanks for posting this and thanks Ken for your fabulous genius that changed my life!
great to hear him talking about ollie :) women in love is a great film and 'the Devils' has got to be one of the most hard hitting films ever. great director, and ollie was a great actor and still sorely missed
Ken Russell Is my best friend's grandad.
Very interesting - thanks!
LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM is a must-see.
Ken Russell is so erudite, from high to low knows European culture, rarissime. also BILLION DOLLAR BRAIN. too bad he didn't have better dietary advice.
R.I.P Ken
