Got to have a quick chat with Jack and Guthrie at the underdog in nashville monday...Jack was very cool for taking the time to talk to me. HUGE FAN JACK!!!! You sounded great by the way
And, yes, definitely second your emotion about ‘Intercontinental’. What an amazing album. Each song is sooooo good, and I have a special affinity for “Joe’s Blues”. Just love that one.
It takes me a hundred notes to say what you say with one. You're the man Jack. And that's coming from a professional guitar player of 35 years.
Thank you!
Being turned into the playing of so many wonderful guitarists by such an inspirational teacher is such a blessing. Deeply grateful Jack, thank you.. finding out about Joe Pass and his connection to the CAGED system was an eye opener, that would be a lesson to cherish..❣️
This is awesome! You sounded great last night at The Underdog. Good times.
This is a real treasure. Beautiful! Thank you Mr. Ruch!
There is a wonderful symmetry in having Jack Ruch teaching us Joe Pass.
Perfect.
great lesson, thank you!
Great stuff Jack. Joe was truly an all-time great! I like the way you bring the jazz lines into the blues. Thanks
How you give real insight into the playing of these amazing musicians like BB king, Joe Pass and Grant Green in less time than it takes to eat breakfast blows me away. Great lesson Jack. I think those guys would have really dug your playing. Cheers.
Thank you Anthony!
Fantastic Jack 🎸👍 thanks so much for sharing these!
My pleasure!
dayum! there has been some fire lessons in the last 3-4 videos... totally loving it! Thanks Jack! You da man!
Thank you!
Great video as usual Jack ❤!
Such a great breakdown of a true master. Thanks Jack for the great description as always.
Thanks Peter!
100% cool solo Jack! Cream of the crop stuff. Cheers! 🥃🎶😎
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing. Really appreciate how much you explain these joe pass licks intervallically !
You’re welcome!
I was listening to Intercontinental when your video came up! My GF, whose not into jazz, even told me it's a beautiful record! Thanks again Jack!
Awesome! She’s right
Solid Info from a great guitarist ! Well done Sir.
Thank you!
Another great one Jack
This is an incredible lesson. Thank you 🙏🏻
My pleasure!
Smokin Jack!
I agree that Intercontinental is one of his best sounding albums. Great lesson!
Thanks Jack, another great lesson
Thank you!
How to play butterfly fill licks on the guitar
👏
Asking as a non guitarist does playing across the fret board add to the beauty or just complexity. A casual listener doesn’t know nor care what an individual instrument is doing they only care how it sounds.
Hey Jack, when you're playing that GMaj7 over the Em7 why is that not G7 to avoid the F#?
The F# sounds great over Emin7. A G7 would have an F which would clash with the E min chord
@@JackRuch Oh right, the F# makes an Em9 and the F would be a b9 🤦♂ So in terms of chord scale theory, is that like a C Lydian feel or am I off base there?
Joe Pass was a tremendous guitarist but sometimes his technique overpowered the song in my opinion. I can easily listen to him on Spotify while driving and enjoy it for a half hour before switching to someone else. Jack on the other hand, I could listen to for days !! Love the way he always chooses the right notes...like Larry Carlton and Robben Ford. I value that over speed which is meaningless without melodicism.
I’m going to raise you a say Joe was the best of the best.
I can't argue with that!
