- Just wanted to throw a quick video together to show everything that has been done to the car so far. The strut brace is from K5 Optima store www.k5optimastore.com/products... you can also find the dress up bolts and the throttle body spacer on their site as well. The car has bigger fuel injectors that I bought from Summit Racing along with the K&N air intake. The MagnaFlow exhaust was done by punks in Vancouver Washington. non turbo. thanks and glad you like the video. there's a lot of haters out there for sure. but I could care less. I love my Sonata.. plenty of power , killer gas mileage , and a very comfortable ride. the sonata loves to tear up HONDAS every once in awhile too..

@@fadedempirecarclub948 You can turbo a 2.4 L but your going to have to rebulid the whole engine there was a guy that got 320 HP out of a 2.4L Sonata but he blew it up after that because of the rods and you know the infamous issue of the engines throwing rods.

You should try the aem cai its bent to go away from the motor and down by your fog light so ur always getting cool air and if u have crazy rain they make a water resistant filter cover u can add i had an aem on my old 08 acura tl type s and i live in tacoma where it pours 360 days a year i had no issues with it whatsoever and it was always cold from california to wa state ice cold when i touched the intake and awesome sound

Hey What bigger injectors do I need for a 2.4 L like yours!?!?
I have a 2012 sonata gls 6 speed manual has tinted windows rainguards and cold air intake instatlled on 17 inch vision 426 cross wheels. Might try to get new head lights next. I think my car might have been tuned before its runs really fast and punchy

I know this video is older, but could you possibly explain your signal path for the sub? Where did you put the line output converter?
I spliced into the speaker wire that is going to the rear doors.. so the speaker wires still goes to the rear doors but it also comes off the positive and negative and goes back to the line converter.. that is how I'm converting a left and right signal to an RCA plug to go to the amplifier.. the converter that I'm using is powered I know they make ones that are not powered.. this one runs solid power ignition power and a ground and it only powers on when it sees a signal from the speaker wire input.. therefore its remote wire is able to shut off the amplifier when you turn the stereo off. this makes for a really clean install and I was able to keep the factory deck since there is nothing wrong with it..
@@BLRTUNING Personally, I replaced my head unit for a cheap aftermarket Sony one. It let me separate the sub signal from the speaker signal, so they don't clash with each other. Plus the amps in that radio sound way cleaner, better bass, etc. I was impressed
How did you blackout the chrome package?? I’ve wanted to do it to mine but haven’t wanted to plastidip because it ends up looking tacky after a while
I used 10 coats with 15 minutes time in between coats of Plasti dip.. it lasted about 3 years before it finally started getting chips and peel marks in it if you stay on top of it you can touch those up by spraying Plasti dip onto a q-tip..
Still to this day the chrome package is blacked out with Plasti dip. You should use a minimum of 10 coats. This will have a nice thick layer of Plasti dip it will hold up for a long time to rocks and whatnot and if you ever want to peel it off the more layers there is the easier it will be able to peel off in one piece..
anyone know if the injen short ram intake thats made for the 2011 sonata w/ turbo wpuld fit the GLS model?
Parts for the 2.0 Turbo will sit a nether 2.0 Turbo from the years 2011 to 2014 and it's the same with the 2.4 leader 2011 to 2014 2.0 Turbo parts for the intake system will not fit the 2.4 l motor

What about the faulty moter they have bad oil pump and bearings. I see your recall dipstick they add a quart and half of oil and knock sensor so it blows up after warrenty. Thanks Hyundai. Dont get me wrong i love the car.
we actually own a 2013 that recently got a brand new motor installed for free at the dealership due to old one being under the recall warranty i guess idk we bought it used with 200k miles on it as is i think the dealership was just helping us out who knows, but right now it has 5000 miles on new engine and i was thinking about doing some upgrades to it where would be a good place to start
Start with something simple such as an air intake system or go big with an exhaust modification. After that work on the exterior (if you wish) and continue adding mods that will increase torque and power

how did you black out the chrome outside?
I masked everything off and used Plasti dip I applied 10 coats of Plasti dip and before I saw a first chip in the Plasti dip it lasted about 5 years just needed touched up after that

Did you have alot of sway in the car doing hiway speeds before the strut bar?
yes the car handle good but there was a lot of body roll. after adding the strut brace there was hardly any body roll and over this weekend I added some D2 racing springs which lower the car a little over an inch and a half and the Springs are about 30% stiffer than the stock Factory Springs. Now the handling is ridiculous

If it cost more than $5,000 it would not be worth it you can buy the 2.0 turbo motor for less.. it's a lot of work because you would have to replace the plastic manifold

No they do not the lip on the inside of the fenders is also rolled though.. if you are uncertain what that means look it up on CZcams there's lots of videos out there showing how to roll the inside of your fenders to be able to go with wider tires..
How do you keep the engine bay so clean? That’s one of my goals. I clean it then it gets dirty the next day. What brand is that strut brace?
We just constantly cleaned it with a toothbrush and power wash and everything else. It was strut brace is from K5 optima store. You can Google search that and you'll find them.

@js.kavana you just don't want to spray water too much right on the ECU or the fuse box. It can help just to throw a towel over those items. They can get wet but you just don't want to spray them directly
Im.have same 2012 sonata and only I'm change my stereo and buy it vertical car stereo or Tesla style stereo and is came front and back camera
save your money and get a (2011-2013ish) genesis sedan or a charger if you want performance upgrades or a (2011-2013ish) IS 250 if you want a better looking car without any stickers. a 2012 sonata is a fwd econo sedan commuter-car for people unwilling to deal with the limitations of an elantra. yes the throttle delay is bad and you get the feeling you're going to go up on 2 wheels when you're aggressive in a corner, but that doesn't mean you buy a throttle body spacer and a stabilizer bar if those things bother you... it means you bought the wrong car and should replace it with the right one.

Nick Sacco I've done so many things it's ridiculous to this car it is far from stock anymore. Some of the major changes would be a straight pipe to a MagnaFlow Muffler and increase the pipe diameter by 1/2 inch. The other thing would be a K&N short ram air intake. One of the biggest upgrades would be adding a strut brace to the front end of the car even on stock suspension this makes a tremendous difference. Then you add in godspeed coilovers and it makes for a really aggressive ride to start intake Corners like a small Honda Civic hatchback.

I know that they do make a bigger sway bar buy Ultra Racing for my car. I plan on getting it but it's also $270. it replaces the 15 millimeter sway bar that's already on the vehicle. I believe it is 20 millimeter it's my ultra racing as well and they sell it on the K5 website. I took a corner today at about 50 miles an hour and there was absolutely no body roll.
Hey love your car, how do I find the chrome pieces in black? Like the back trunk right above the license plate and also the the chrome stripe thats on the side of the car that goes from front to back?
All the Chrome on my car was Plasti Dip it's a type of spray paint that turns into a rubber coating basically used masking tape to tape everything off that I didn't want painted and then painted everything with black plasti dip you can look it up on CZcams. The final bit of chrome was the headlights which are by spec D tuning they are there black housing headlights that finally got rid of all the Chrome on the car. The only the I've done so far is do the l.e.d lights all around. What's better plasti dip or 3mm vinyl wrap. I was thinking of just vinyl wrap the chrome pieces.
Richie Pandya the vinyl wrap would work but with my experience the vinyl wrap is harder to do and get it to look perfect also the vinyl wrap can peel up easily and if it starts to peel up in one spot pretty much that whole strip is going to come off. with Plasti Dip if a rock hits the Plasti Dip hard enough it will just chip a little tiny piece of the Plasti Dip. you can simply tape everything off again and spray that one piece/chip and it will blend right back in. I've done this a few times on my car

Richie Pandya when you're doing the Plasti Dip just watch some videos on CZcams on how to use Plasti Dip. It's really easy anyone can do it. You just do one light coat for the first time wait for about 10 minutes and then apply a second coat from there wait 5 minutes between each coat afterwards that's what I did and it's held up for the last 3 years. All the Chrome on the car has 10 coats of Plasti Dip the piece on the front end of the car that is attached to the hood of the car has 12 coats simply because it will take the most abuse do to rock chipping and stuff like that. As far as the exhaust video yes I already have an exhaust video on my CZcams channel. My car is straight piped to a High Flow catalytic converter and then a MagnaFlow Muffler in the very back. Just look up 2012 Hyundai Sonata MagnaFlow exhaust you'll find my video there or look through my CZcams channel under videos. Hope this helps

@@bearryder9650 I used newspaper and some painters tape and I'm asked off the entire side of the car.. left only the chrome trim showing.. used 10 coats of Plasti dip.. applied a really light coat first.. then a thin layer every 15 minutes.....

curtis pascal I used Plasti Dip I just used black plasti dip and Plasti Dip all the Chrome and then I went with the spec D tuning blackout DRL headlights sometimes you can find them on sale on Amazon if not just look online for them a lot of different places carry than for this vehicle depending on what ones you get they range from $800 to $400. The headlights are what completed the blackout package on the whole car. As far as exhaust I'm not sure what to look up. I went with 3in stainless steel from the header all the way back to a MagnaFlow Muffler. A local shop here in town had a high Flow catalytic converter that was similar in size just a bigger diameter. So I had him install the high-flow cat. The only charged me an extra $100 to do that. It was one that he had laying around his shop so I don't even know what brand it is

Did you tap into the rear speakers to convert into rca or do it up at the dash ? I’ve hearer you could do it either way but I’m not sure which is better
Evan Salazar I tapped into the rear left and right speaker right at the B pillars behind the plastic in between the front and rear doors just had to locate the wires you will find that there is a plug that is attached to the b-pillar and then the door actually plugs into the detailer on the outside of the car in the door jams so you'll need to find what wires go to the speakers in the doors and then tap into those positive and negative wires on the inside of the car on the left and right side there is lots of ways to go about doing it but that's what I found was the easiest

how did you get the stock inlet duct to remain stable and not bounce around?
Just leave the 2 front screws in it and it will stay stable
I left the two screws in the front and it fits snugly behind the heat shield it does not move at all
I have a different air intake. It's not as good or as big as your but mine doesn't fit snug. I have the two front screws on but there is nothing else touching or holding it in place when I drive. Any suggestions?

As in a total price of money that I have invested into the car I'm not really sure. What I can tell you is it's been a really good car still have it to this day

I just got done doing all of the interior lights. wireless remote for the lights on the floorboard by your feet. they can change to 8 different colors and they can run to the Beat of the Music. also installed a holograph for the puddle lights on the front doors. when you open the doors a holograph of the Hyundai logo Shines on the ground. I'm going to add a video to CZcams of all the stuff that is on the interior of the car

Man it's been a while. I don't even have this car anymore. They were not injectors for this car. It took a little bit of work to make them fit.

How did you get the strut bar to fit ?
The strut bar has to be flipped around in reverse and it will fit without any issues.. on the air intake heat shield we had to cut a small slot and bend the metal downward so that the strut brace would fit without rubbing on it.

They have it on Amazon right now and that is the one that I'm using it comes with stiffer end links also but you can always switch to a set of aluminum and links there is many different companies out there that make them. I recommend a one-piece solid design take a look at the ones that are from spyder extras on sling mods
How you delete the chrome on it ?

You spray paint
No it's called Plasti dip it's like a spray-on rubber. It comes in a can like a spray paint can. Use about 10 coats. If you ever want to peel it off the chrome will look like brand new underneath. You only have to touch it up about every 3 years or so if it gets a rock chip or something like that.

ThePsychokilla187 yes I did I Plasti Dip the chrome trim all of the badges the lower front grill and the Upper Front Grill both grills on the car or actually stainless. the Plasti Dip on the chrome trim and the Badgers has been on there for a little over a year. it has not chipped or peeled off one bit....
Did u spray the chrome trim along the side on the car or did u remove it?
ThePsychokilla187 I left it on the car. I just used newspaper and painters tape and tape everything off on the entire sides of the car and on the Badgers. The custom grill was Plasti Dipped front and back while it was off of the vehicle.

Just look up innovative performance ECU chip on Amazon remember is vehicle-specific they make them for all different kinds of vehicles

Dude there's a guy who took Evo parts and put them into the 2.4 L Sonata put a turbo on it from the Evo and it's putting out close to 500 horsepower

@@justinneufeld1078 mine is straight piped with a MagnaFlow muffler.. then I have the k&N high flow air intake system.. the innovative performance chip, a aluminum throttle body spacer, a catch can and 700cc injectors.. yes there is definitely a difference in horsepower and torque. couldn't tell you how much but it is noticeable when driving the car..
How much HP are you getting?
Before any modifications it was making 160 bone stock haven't had it dynoed after that
@@BLRTUNING ok you should dyno that beast .I got the 2013 2.4 L with a k&n mod. I got like 220hp up from 198hp. Keep me posted on that HP. The modz look great

Steve Fitzpatrick you can do a dual exhaust with a y-pipe however it would not be a true dual exhaust being that this is only a four cylinder and the way that the manifold is designed. But there is plenty of room behind the bumper for two mufflers and a y-pipe. I almost went with that option and if I ever redo the exhaust I will probably go with dual Magnaflow
