    Caste system is not what we know now. Caste(Varna) system was actually used to divide people in socio-economic groups according to their role in society like thievs and murderers are lower caste and scholars, prists are higher caste. Also it was a fluid system, not rigid system like if you born in certain caste, you must live your entire life with that. A thief or dacoit can move to upper caste by reforming, studying and practising religion. Later when British arrived, they saw a potentil in this system to exploit and divide people on the basis of caste.

    Varan and Jati which would roughly translate to lineage was turned into "caste" system, it was meant to categorize people on basis of skills not birth and it can be seen in other culture as well like Japan and even in Europe where surnames like Baker or Smith could tell you their ancestral occupation. When East India company arrived in India they praised the Indian education system and family values but after involvement of crown in the company you can see the shift in their writing, they start depicting India as very savage and backward place. Moreover, the being more white skinned comes from colonization.

      @RG-un2vl Před rokem +1

      Exactly… she might belong to the lowest caste as decided by the British census, but she does not belong to any low Varna or low jati as per Hinduism.

  • @RG-un2vl
    @RG-un2vl Před rokem +2

    One has to to remember that the caste system as we know it today is not ancient or even Hindu in origin. India had entirely different and parallel systems,Varna and Jati,which looked nothing like the caste system of today.They were complex and many people did not belong to any Varna.’Caste’ is a British administrative hodgepodge term which evolved in the late 19th century as a Socio political tool to divide people and was cemented in public consciousness due to its inclusion in the census in 1902. In fact, most of the ‘Caste’ terminology popularly used today is not more than 125 years old . Also, most of the well-known visual aids like the caste pyramid are made up outside of India. They are incredibly damaging. The earlier systems were not entirely free of exploitation, but the implied baggage of the caste system is very different from what existed earlier….
    1)the heavy racial connotation in the caste system is colonial in origin originating in the Aryan invasion theory .The old Indian systems of Varna and jati were not racial at all. They have their own history and learn how to really study it to understand it since it is no longer used.
    2)Especially in the US ,caste is being sold as something parallel to racism or slavery or even worse than that. It’s unfortunate that the common American is being gaslighted, as such by the same people who indulged in slavery.The fact is that Indian had no system to racially discriminate between people till the British came into the country. It’s unfortunate that people in USA are being fed a false narrative.
    The reason behind this is religion. India is the only country in the world which still has a native religion majority. And people hard at work to change that. So most of the narratives about India, but particularly about Hinduism in the English language, are either negative or downright mutilated. If one really wants to know about Hinduism, one has to bypass colonial European records, or opinions about it, and go back into the past. Unfortunately, this is true for many Indians, as well, as we have been educated in the British system for almost 8 generations. Today, the common Indian will not be able to tell the difference between ‘caste’ and Varna/Jati and what each one means.

    Hey... You know when you read Indian History you can learn that the Britishers captured the whole of India not because of the power of the gUN BUT divided the whole community so they can rule easily. Britisher gave the name caste system and now they spread worldwide. An oppressed can understand what the colonial did to the whole community. now doing all the bad in the world they lecture us about difference. The cast system is not what you think. It is the Varna system, the Varna system in Hinduism divides the human into 4 states or classes. Every class represents the community in a socio-economic structure. Like the warrior class, educational or teacher class, or the service class (who work in different areas). like today's an economic division of 1st is agriculture, 2nd is manufacturing, and 3rd is service.
    India has a great ancient history. example Like ayurveda and yoga are comes from the ancient time. If the cast system was always been in Hinduism so why is this precious gem not categorized or divided between the cast. You will not be able to understand this because this is new for you. and this is new for most Indians too.
    Like Black is bad it is derived by white Britisher, and now everyone facing this racism not only African but also Indian face the color racism. This video tells you about there are different languages in INDIA even though their religion is Hindu. Then how these differences do not reflect in social norms. For example, an African or American or Britisher is hard to marry a Japanese or a Middle east community, or a Scottish or Italian, or French. because of the language barrier. So when an Indian tells you it is a diverse land you have to understand it has different countries inside. And besides all of these differences, they are hardcore Indians.

    And now aarav is giving guidance to someone , teaching someone so that time he is considered as brahmin
    Now aarav is doing something for its survival like doing some kind of job , business etc at that time he is considered as vaishya
    And aarav is doing something in its home which has no connection with outside people like cooking food , cleaning house etc at that time aarav is shudra
    And there is no mention in any text that is like brahmin is greater or kashtriya is greter a person is considered brahmin , kashtriya , vaishya , shudra at different point of time depend on what he is doing at that particular time

    I'm not sure if the spiritual cleansing and rituals in bali you researched have any correlation or not but they could be, as at one point (before colonialism and globalisation) in recorded history, Hinduism had spread as far West as Afghanistan and as far East as Japan. There's also a verse in Hinduism which you can look up yourselves, known as "Vasudev Kutumb", which in a very general sense means the people of the world are one big family. However some claim that it means that the people of the world are descendants of the Vasudevs, with Kutumb meaning family. Another interesting fact about India is that, India has a record of 10000 years of not invading or warring with any countries or regions outside of the ones it had already acquired, which spanned from Afghanistan in the West to Myanmar in East and from the Himalayas in North to Sri Lanka In South.
    Note: There was no India, as in a unified front like a country back then, it was all divided, but rulers, lords etc in the region had an unspoken understanding so to speak, that they would neither attack anyone out of those boundaries first nor would they let anyone else from outside those boundaries get inside with intentions of war and invasion. Though that latter part was broken a couple of times as history is witness, there's always that bunch of idiots, who want to gain more power by allying with the enemies.
