Who makes the superior cut off wheel? That’s a question that’s been in my mind for years now! As a small independent welding contractor I can’t afford to throw my money away on inefficient consumables. So I decided to put three 6 inch cutting discs head to head to see which will give me maximum bang for my buck! The three competitors are:
Metabo Original slicer
Vs.
Benchmark Abrasives
Vs.
Satc
Cut off wheel where harmed in the making of this video!

Used the SATC 4.5 cutoff wheels. They work great for the price and have great longevity.
I use them to cut off brackets that hold on concrete steps. Hard use
*Great content, Would like to see Anthony comparison/opinion on cordless grinders.*
If you haven't tried them, give Diablo a try. I use their cutoff wheels exclusively
This was super informative! It's nice to know what good consumables to use for a grinder cutting wheel, although I hate grinding.
Thanks for the video Anthony !
Thanks for another great video! Every time I see your truck it make me jealous.
Good to see a few brands used that I never heard of
I use SATC on my 4.5" and they are the best imo. They sell dewalt around here for $3.00 a piece and i get the SATC for around a $1 online. They last longer and cut just as good.. I highly recommend!
Thanks for the video, very interesting test. Stay safe bro 👍👍🇦🇹
Great video and thanks for sharing! Stay Safe!
Thanks for doing that comparison vid
Very good and helpful
Cheers from Nova Scotia
No problem 👍
Have you heard of Bad Dog tools. They make a diamond impregnated cutoff wheel. It's MUCH more expensive then those others but, you'll get about 2 years service out of one wheel. Not sure how much you spend on those other wheels over a 2 year period but it might be something to look into.
They also say that they will replace the wheel for free if you wear it out.
You should try the LINCONSON discs, you won’t be disappointed
3m makes a great grinding wheel/ cut off wheel known only as the CUBITRON!
im gonna try it!
@@MeltinMetalAnthony The grinding wheels are friggin unreal, they literally melt through metal! Haha I used them when I worked on at an asphalt plant. Cubitron for life.
Well worth giving the pherd 1mm discs a go best ive found mate
Diablo worked the best for me, speed vs quantity in my line of work. Might look into the Benchmark or SATC if I can find it. Plus I work in 90% stainless steel
I use and like Benchmark or Empire abrasives, both work great for me.
I run a Fertilizer COOP repair shop. I have found the Benchmark Abrasive wheels to be the best buy for the cost. Look on Ebay as they are cheaper with shipping than amazon. Also Bench mark has a ceramic cut off wheel that is twice as high cost but does cut much faster. They call it there 4x wheels. I still us more of the regular wheels as we break as many wheels as we wear out. A lot of rusty demo type work. I do keep some of the 4x wheels just for straight cutting.
To be honest,Compare to others , benchmark abrasive win! It's very durable, long life.I am a cutting disc manufacturer, and I test cutting discs every day.Cut metal/stainless steel. We can talk to each other
Awesome video, I enjoy the comparison videos. What face shield are you wearing Anthony?
I use a diamond wheel when I have a lot of cutting to do and for fiber cutoff wheels I use Pferd or norton since its what every where carries
Holy crap those are all so cheap. I just paid 3 bucks for a Gator 4.5" cut-off wheel at Menards and that was one of the lower cost ones.
CGW quickie cut is the best there is
Saw your cable reels behind you, Those are trick. Who makes those, and are you happy with them? Pro's Cons'?
those are aluma reel
Another one to try our is SAIT. We used them almost exclusively when I did structural steel in the field and they seemed to outlast a lot of other brands we cycled through. Sad to see the Metabo die that soon, but it doesn't suprise me as much as it should.
ya I was kinda mad, I paid a premium for them
i am Benchmark Abrasives all the way!
What? try the walter ones bud!
Project farm did a test video on cutting wheels as well he tests all kinds of stuff you should check them out
really appreciate your video's! Still want to work for you.
maybe one day ill be big enough!
sait man im tellin ya, and if you get jammed up and have to get home depot shit the advantipro stuff isnt bad
Are you open to test one more brand?(CutFlex)
I can send it to you
Let me know
If you would have started with a sait you would have still had three new discs
I believe SACT is pernounsed, S. A. C. T.
First comment.
Man those are cheap, me personally won't give a dime to Amazon... I like Klingspor, the repersentive comes by evry 3 weeks or so.
Stop supporting Amazon.
