- It's easy to grow cabbages, from a store bought cabbage. All you need is a head of cabbage, a sharp knife, a small bowl or container, and some water. Let me show you how i do it, and see what they look like while growing.

This definitely works I let my son plant one in my pepper garden last year and I have already harvested 6 heads
I EAT those large outer leaves!!!
They're the best part!!!
Well @bunnybunny I'm not surprised!
God is so greattt❤
Bought 1 cabbage and got 6 free one
Thanks Jesus ❤
Everything is becoming so expensive at the moment so for my own sake i started to grow stuff myself from the grocery store vegetables, this was a great tutorial thanks you for sharing :D
Your video is so cool! Never realized this! The loose outer leaves you've grown are quite nutritious and delicious sliced in thin strips and cooked in a variety of dishes. Thanks for sharing!
We also have grown a bunch of veggies from the grocery store. Haven’t really thought about cabbage.
What a great idea Sara!
I hope you try it! It's fun to watch the cabbages grow. I grow alot from the grocery store, but this is my favorite.
I have never tried this and I need to!! I've only planted cabbage from seed! Last year I only harvested ONE cabbage lol. I really need to try this! Thanks for sharing! 😊💗👍
I struggle with cabbage plants because the deer eat them all. This is just so easy to do, and worth it. $-5 heads from a piece of cabbage, it's so fun!
Great Video! I will definitely do it. I just counted over 160 tomatoes growing in a spare bedroom under cheap LED lights along with my arugula, kale, green onions and rosemary! Done it for years in the winter. They will need to make room for cabbage now! PS: I always plant green onions inside as soon as I buy them from the store and then cut off the top when I need some, and they will keep growing. I use the adjustable steel wire shelving. One shelf on the bottom for the potted plants and a top shelf to hang lights and support the vines.
Good job , I just want tell you that you can the outer leaves too they are so good if you boil
This is awesome Sara! I know about growing various things from old store bought plants, but cabbage is one that I did not know about. I can't wait to try this. I'll definitely be experimenting with this one. Thank you!
So u got 3 cabbages from one stem brilliant video i got one rooting in water thk u for sharing best video I've seen 😁
Thanks for sharing. As a newbie to vegetable gardening and canning, this is fabulous information.
That's one I haven't tried and I love growing things from the GROWcery store. I've found cutting an X on the bottom of the stem seems to promote root growth, at least on the celery I keep growing.
@geekygardems
I heard that you can dip the base (the part that will grow the roots) in honey, wrap a paper towel around it then emerse it in water. I haven't tried that yet because I'm currently using some rooting powder I bought at Home Depot which works really well.
@@JoniDiMaggio I have heard that honey acts as a rooting hormone but I've never tried it.
@@geekygardens ok thanks when I try it I'll come back and let you know
@@geekygardensI heard cinnamon is also a rooting agent.
@@CL-im9lkThanks! I'll keep that in mind.
What a great idea and tip for more cabbage. Thank you so much! I think I will try this your way. But also I think once the leaves begin to grow and you can see each little cabbage. I'll cut them apart as long as they each get a piece of root. And try growing them separately. Liked and subbed!!!
Perfect tutorial!! Wish me luck! 😝
I wish you luck!!! I hope you enjoy growing more😀
Cook the cabbage leaves like collard greens
That's freaking amazing! You always have something cool, Sara!
I have to try this for sure. I regrow celery, onions, lettuce and carrots but never thought to do cabbage.
First I’ve heard of doing this with cabbage. Gotta try it!
Hey you rock! Thank you! I'm here because a cabbage I am growing already, my first time growing them, has multiple babies growing. It already has the root system so I will harvest the big cabbage head and leave the little ones to grow and see how it works that way. I suppose I will cut those back and eat them till I have just one monster remaining.
Didn't know you could do this with cabbage. Definitely going to try it.
It's so easy to do. I really hope you try it. 😀
Wow! I have no idea that it grows this way. Thank u.
So amazing because we have been throwing that part for decades never late to learn thanks for sharing 👍🇿🇦
Have you ever cut the stem up to make individual plants? Seems like it would work as long as each section had some roots. I’m thinking each head would then have enough room to develop into larger heads.
That's a good idea!
Wow, I was interested in doing this and your video was the first to pop up. New subscriber here😊.
THAT is really interesting, Sara! So many new cabbages out of just the one planted. Amazing!
I love growing cabbage this way! 😀

Awesome
Well done, thank you
That's very interesting thanks for sharing the info Gro Dat
Simple thank you
This is the video I've been looking for! Thanks so much !
Wow❣️
Thank you
How long does the whole process take. Do you ever have to replant in a larger pot after it outgrown the first pot? Also with them being crammed does that effect how big they get?
Thank you so much!
This is excellent! I will give a try . Thank you !
Thank you!
Thank you so much
Really liked the video thought it was super cool what a great idea

GIRLLL YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Thank you thank you!!! I started my first one in March she is doing lovely. Now I just place my second one in water today.
Thanks 😊 yes you helped, this is my first time doing this, I have 6 heads coming out of mine and I didn’t know if I needed to separate them. Again thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
Really....? wow - what a great idea! I think I'm gonna try it....
I wonder the finished cabbages would be bigger if you cut them apart after rooting and planted each one in it’s own pot
Wow, you just have a green thumb, Sara! 😉I can try, but...😁 Have a great weekend! Thx for inspiring!
You can do it!! It's easy!
Hi Sara ❣️🐦🌿🏡
When you get a lot of cabbages at one time how do you store those?
This is the coolest idea I've seen from regrowing from grocery greens.
Thank you so much and God bless y'all
Jude, from Kentucky ✝️🥀🐴🇺🇲💚
I am rewatching, Sara because I am growing the cabbages in water now. Do you keep it in full sunlight? I have shared this video with friends and they are doing this experiment as well. On Mrs Green Thumb channel is one of them. Thanks as always! Hope you are are staying cool down there. Have a blessed Memorial day weekend!💖
I just bought one medium sized head of organic Napa cabbage that was $8.76! Ouch. I’m hoping to plant it and save myself some money. Thank you for this!!
I wanna try red cabbage
I helped out and a local 4-H St. Patrick day meal. I got put in charge of the cabbage prep. Guess who saved dozens of cabbage ends! 😋
All mine are sprouting well just 1 week later.
Question: has anyone divided the ends into separate individual cabbages before planting? I'm thinking of the similar idea that one does with potato starts. This would be more organized and evenly spaced out in the garden rows.
So I'm assuming, you can brake those four heads off. And put them in separate pots to let them get bigger separately?. Love this vedio. Thanks for your teaching
I'm going to do this for my chickens this would save me a bunch if money in feed
Thank you for sharing that. I live alone and eat 2 cabbages a week on average. I can see I could become self sufficient in this in a short space of time - they take about 2 months to grow, don't they?
Wow thank for the tip put I can crow everything Including ginger afterwards everything it didn't turned out. I love garbage special the red one, the red is more healthy then the green. Thank you for effort to make the video I really appreciate 😊 😉 ❤️
I've grown a lot of stuff from grocery stores. The more you try, the more you'll know what works, and doesn't
Hi. I just came across your video and I'm so excited. I started a cabbage but I have the whole core. I see three little sprouts of cabbages at the top but no roots yet. I've trimmed off the yucky stuff. When should I plant or how do I encourage the roots to form. I change the water everyday and it's in a clear plastic cup(recycling). I live in Hawaii and the mornings are in the 40's. Any suggestions?? Thank you. Nee subscriber. I'm currently trying carrots, onions, garlic, Roma and cherry tomatoes, avocado, green and pink lady apples, oranges and hot peppers and celery. I failed at bok choy but will try again.
