thank you, champion
You can't name your character "Karen". I was looking forward to making a Karen!
You're a hero mate!
thank you man! i feel like all IGN talks about these days is the graphics/music/lore. Always nice to be able to come to you and actually get a taste of what gameplay is like
You the man.
Wow, the attributes spell out Classic. That's very special.
Ardoron Ro i see what you did there lol
Another cultured individual. Nice.
all together I think, this is more fallout as fallout itself!
or, at least, that's how fallout should be.
@@headintheclouds999 there's a reason for that. FO was modeled ON Wasteland.
@@thomasneal9291 I know, and I think it was nice that fallout evolve to a third person/ ego rpg game, yet I think they should go back and give it try, cause apparently this genre is working perfectly for that theme.
Lets do this.
A bit buggy, a bit unpolished, a whole lot of awesome.

I will update this one when the patch comes out I speak about in the review. Hopefully the seek stutter for new data goes away. Looks like 4k encoding gripped this video hard in youtube as well.
I typically love these isometric rpgs, but many of them seem boring when the choice is just the usual "Good vs Evil" options. The branching style of this game sounds awesome.
I don't mind good vs evil, so long as it's not entirely clear who is good and who is evil. DOS2 is kinda a decent example of this, where no matter what you do you're damning some group of people. Pillars of Eternity 1 is the same way to a certain extent with some of the factions.
@@Smylesss PoE 2 especially.
@@Revanchist One of the best crpg's i've ever played
I don't know why people don't like clear-cut good and evil. It's been a proven story-telling device for 5,000 years. This shades of gray mentality is actually a very recent trend, probably started by Thanos and Game of Thrones.
Thanks for another amazing in-depth review. You are definitely the go to guy to get the honest scoop on anything coming out. I appreciate in value all the time you put into making these reviews honest and thorough. Can’t wait to see this one on Friday!
Didn't think I'd ever see this release, heard about it when the devs/artists showed up to Wasteland Weekend for character inspiration 3 years ago or so.
Whats that all about?
This is such a midlife-crisis fog trap of a game. I want to play it just as I want to play Pillars of Eternity and Divinity: The Original Sin 1,2 that I bought on Steam. But then I realize I can only play for 5 hours top a week because of life.🤨
Sometimes these games become too much managing(almost like taking inventory) and I just play Dota.
Ahhh, now that the kids are tweens and up, they don’t want to hang out anymore and avoid me for the most part cuz tik-tok, and I have mad gaming time if I choose. I think I’ve gamed more in the last six months than at any time in my life since childhood.
This game comes out 3 days before I start my game programming 2 year course so I probably won't have the time to complete it
@@jackoberto01 for sure man, you certainly won't be finishing that course work semester 1.
Same here. I got pillars and divinity ONE lol and haven't started either of them and I bought them basically an year ago.
Best reviewer hands down, forgot this was releasing tho ngl
Really!? 🤔 Now that's definitely Debatable.
I agree with you. Best review.
Would you lie otherwise?
@@jamieslater8991 I tend to come here, to gman, mandalore, and civvie, to see if I'll like a game.
If they do, I tend to.
@@MorrisseyMuse He has similar tastes to mine. I never said he was "the best". You also call out the length and depth he puts into his reviews, which is another thing I appreciate about them. He sits there and explains, instead of pumping out a review saying "graphics are good" and then moving onto "this tactics game has tactics, and they're good", and then moves onto the next part of the video.
Might have to check this one out. Never got into Wasteland 2 too much, arguably because I wasn't in the mood for that type of game, but I'm willing to give it another chance with this one!
I could play this after Frostpunk, double whammy.
Wasteland 2 is totally worth it. I couldn't jive with fallout 4, but I felt at home with W2.
Hopefully its moddable because mods makes a game 10x better. I play fallout 4 from time to time mainly because of mods
if you like fantasy, divinity or pillars of eternity 2 might be the one that gets you
Same. I tried Wasteland 2 but the UI was too janky for me. This new iteration looks like it's optimized much better.
Best reviewer on CZcams. Thanks man for pumping out the great and consistent reviews.
Your pace, tone, and organization are all wonderful! Love the review. Thanks for the input.
Very interesting review as always, never played a wasteland game but im definitely intrigued now
For some reason, I've never thought about playing any of the games in the Wasteland series until now. However, after watching this review, my interest in the franchise has definitely increased. I plan on giving Wasteland 3 a shot as a result. Sure, there are bugs, stuttering issues and slowdown. However, the positives far outweigh the negatives. Thanks again Karak!
I'm looking forward to playing this over the weekend.
You know what I like about your reviews? The line between it being information and entertaining, but unlike most other reviews, the thing I get from yours is that I base my decision on the information and whether I think that applies to me, rather than just looking at the score.
You truly are my one stop shop for game reviews!! Best on the tubes!!
I have to say, the use and choice of music in this game really stood out to me.
This is a great title and if they've patched out the vast landscape of bugs it launched with, I can certainly recommend it to any fan of crpgs and turn-based-tactical games.
Solid review man! I have been looking forward to playing this for some time, 2 more days!
love your videos man!!! never stop. best one out there hands down.
(for reviews)
I have to say your review style is really quite refreshing. I often find that many reviewers use a lot of “fill” in their videos and the actual key things I want to know in order to make an informed decision get lost in that. But the few review videos I’ve seen from you so far have always managed to leave me with a clear opinion on whether or not the game in question is for me.
Thanks for saving me the time of watching several different review videos just to get the information that I got from this video. Quality content pal. 👌
What a great way to start the day! Thanks for your always excellent and enjoyable reviews. I will get this just to have the chicken bodyguards.
"You Have Died. No One Will Remember Your Sacrifice." LOL!
I wish you talked more about the coop experience in this game. Great review as always!
Intelligence doesn't effect how many skill points you get when you level up. It gives you a one time max of 5 skill points extra. Its not like INT in other games where you will get more skill points each time you level up.
This is true and important!
specifically, the way it works is for every 2 points you put into intelligence, at any time, you get an extra skill point. if you put in 10 points when you first make your character, you get 5 skill points extra to start with. if you start with 5 int you get 2 extra at start, and then if put a point into it on your 10th levelup.. you get one extra skill point.
Game looks great, I really enjoyed part 2 and this looks like it won't disappoint. Thanks for the review.
You can't name your character "Karen". I was looking forward to making a Karen!
You know, I never understood Microsoft nor its marketing head Aaron Greenberg for *not* showcasing both this and Flight Simulator at July’s event
These are simply great looking games with awesome direction and scope
Ben Warren I never played the first one, but the second one was great. I am strongly considering buying this.
XrotarebiL it’s on game pass if you have it
You're videos are always top draw, always smile at your content. Love the one liners and the no nonsense reviews
Fantastic review as always man, Glad to be part of your patron! :)
thanks
One of the only reviewers I actually trust! Thank you for your insight, I'm gonna pick this up!
And IGN ofcourse
i trust only IGN
Nixxx2000 Lol
IGN is like the last place you should come if you're looking for a decent game review...
@@MrMich1lol it took a while for captain obvious to arrive :p
Wasteland has been a favorite series of mine. WL2 did such an amazing job of incorporating how a post apocalypse would look and feel and the depth of the stories always captivated me. Really wanting to play WL3.
You’re the only reviewer I trust nowadays !!! Thank you for your reviews !!! You are amazing 😉
Forgot this one was coming this week. Great review as always.
Never played the series and this is one of my most anticipated game of 2020
You should really try Wasteland 2 maybe after 3
I didn't really like the outdated nature of the remaster of Wasteland 1 though
Play the first 2 on gamepass. Ones dated but it's still got something to offer. 2 had its issues but directors cut fixed a bunch. Great series
@@Ashamedofmypast I tried playing Wasteland Remastered and couldn't get into it due to the interface. Funny 'cause when I played it when it was released in 1988, it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. How times have changed...
Same
@@dirkmanderin yes I understand what you mean. I remember playing WS2 with all the bugs and clunky interface and I had a blast but later on I played Xcom2 and WS2 combat system became complete joke to me =[
I could spend weeks playing through this and Deparados 3. They're so up my alley it hurts
I trust every review you do. You need to be the top reviewer online period. And your shirts are amazing
Man, I was going to snooze on this one, but your review (and the gameplay footage) now reeeeeally makes me want to get it!
"You have died.Noone will remember your sacrifice".HAHAHHA love it.
Just got the gamepass too, looking forward to this one :D
Never played these but Ima deffo gonna check this one out. Thanks for the review ♥️
This channel never fails to provide the best review possible.
Will probably pick this one up soon.
Playing 2 now, does 3 also require you have a “toaster “ guy on backup or do the 5 you get cover the needed skills?
I highly recommend making your mechanic your toaster repair men because you're gonna wanna specialize that trust me it's gonna help you keep your pockets not packed but better than being empty
Ms money really made a difference it seems. Wasteland 2 didn't really have that many voiced lines, and I don't think they had any animations either.
Wasteland 2 was really low budget compared to 3.
awesome, thank you for this review! for me personally Wasteland 2 was kinda split between dragging along and phases where I was almost overwhelmed with what to do, but maybe that was just me. I did love the overall setting and story of the Wasteland 2 though. Guess I really have to pick this up now!
Haven't played any of series yet but you definitely made me want to get this thanks for your amazing reviews
I was wondering: do the premade characters have full on backstories that show up in the story (like the Original Sin 2 premade characters)?
Yes they have unique dialogue and connections to the game world
Ohhh I thought they were useless guess not.
@@Atomic_Chef are you positive that the pre-made characters have unique dialogue? Because other youtubers are saying there is none.
@@alexoelkers2292 Yea I've heard very little or none, but definitely not quests tied to them like DOS 2.
The premade companion characters have unique dialogue but thats it as far as I’m aware for party members
So glad to see these guys handed a solid budget. Makes me excited to see things like Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 after the acquisition.
-edit- Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 will be released by Obsidian. A separate rpg developer from Wastelands (inXile), but were also bought out by Microsoft games.
Yep, although it does call into question how viable going the Kickstarter route is for not only RPGs but indie games in general...
@paytoncntrll7 They never said they were made by the same company. He just said he was excited for those games.
Forgot, about this, but I was looking forward to it so much. Thx for the review
Love your content! Best reviews every time.
Great review , never coukd get into 2nd one, just i dont know time was never right for me. As a huge fallout fan i always wanted to, now i will fully invest in this one, got it on gamepass too, truly the best deal on pc.
Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of #2, it just never clicked with me. This game grabbed me right from the start and kept me playing despite the horrible bugs it had at release.
This and cyberpunk are my 2 most anticipated games of the year. I'm glad to see Wasteland reviewing so well across the board. Bring on Friday!!
I didn't even know this was released. I'm actually waiting for Dying Light 2 (DL1 is my favorite game) and also Cyberpunk2077, but I may check this out as well
I got my backer key yesterday. Now just waiting for the game to release :)
Excellent review as always! Hope you are safe and well and enjoy the rest of YOUR week! I have game pass so I’ll be playing this for sure despot not really getting on with the last one even though I really wanted to!
Been having a lot of fun with this and already feeling the impact of my choices.
Never played the others will this b ok
I still remember the 1980's original. I got it as a kid in an Interplay anniversary CDrom bundle. I've been excited for this game to turn into a series.
Now if only we could get more Shadowrun.
Good review. I found it most helpful. I think your discussion of Wasteland 2 in relation to the new game is a key differentiator with the other reviews so far. I will be roaming the icy wastelands soon. Thank you.
Great review keep em coming!
5:14 Wait a minute🤣🤣
I can hear the marching footsteps of a coming thousand patches post game.
Never played wasteland game. But I'm loving this. I also don't see any bugs so far.
@@steve87j
What are you playing on?
Xbox One: one crash, and one instance of player characters looping animations in combat.
Both happening within the first hour or two of gameplay.
@@romdog1818 PC, i can understand the frustration but I feel like this is a PC centric game. much like divinity 2.
Hey man just wanted to let you know you commented on the wrong video, the Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord section is over there right next to the doritos and mountain dew.
Great review. It's refreshing to watch a review from someone who clearly loves the RPG genre.
Thanks for the review. I love your style and enthusiasm. Would you say this has a better fun factor than Divinity Original Sin 2?
This game alone makes gamepass a worthwhile investment. Great review as always
@@MorrisseyMuse cry more pony. 😆
Not only people like to pay for product they yet actually seen but they seem pay with interest. Kids with wallets are the best customers!
I've gotten so much value out of Game Pass it's remarkable. I play around $60 to $120 worth of games for $15/month.
Love gamepass
Especially when you get gamepass for one euro muahahahahaha
It's always nice to hear "Yeah, it's on Game Pass by the way" when you need that $60 for food and you're just watching the review sighing to yourself. Glad to see they nailed it (bugs, tech issues aside). I feel like the feeling leading up to this game was very contentious, with some people writing it off immediately because they thought it would just be another "did you see that guy's brain matter? lol so random apocalypse XD" type of game.
Great review!
@Warm Soft Kitty Says the child
@Warm Soft Kitty By basement do you me house with 2 children? Good insight there. Thank you for your wisdom.
ScotD oh look two adults acting like children how cute.
@Warm Soft Kitty "I'm not a child, I'm a big strong man making fun of people on the internet for no reason."
If that's true, you really should have just kept pretending, dude.
great review as always thanks karak 👍
great review bro.. never played this series before but really considering getting this. I may buy this for my PC instead of my PS4 which I usually game on
Thank you Karak, another amazing review. I was apprehensive because like you, sometimes its difficult for me to maintain investment in titles using the isometric view, but you made this sound like it would be engaging.
This was one of my most anticipated game this year ever since I backed it a few years ago. I already have it in my Steam library and I cannot wait to play it in 2 days.
Thanks for the review Karak!
You can't name your character "Karen". I was looking forward to making a Karen!
Great review. Well done mate
Great review as always. Quick question, does picking a pre-made character duo at the beginning offer any kind of unique story beats or dialogue/voice over work? I was hoping there would be some kind of Origin Character system like in Divinity 2.
Will check it out, never played Wasteland series before, but this one has co-op which I'm after
The way you said "Annie Lennox" sounded like "Aunty Linux" which would actually be a really cool name for an artist.
Yes 😂
Or a distro.
Great video man, what about the Co-Op system?
I noted your usage of a controller alongside that tab input problem. Did you play through on console? Do you know if there's still that same lag on a PC with an SSD?
So hyped for this game. Wasteland 2 was so much fun.
Got this off the gamepass. Looking forward to playing
sure a good deal
Gamepass is trash
Hans Rickam uh okay, instead of saying your unpopular opinion why don’t you elaborate on why it’s “trash”
@@Hasbulla761 Its because he can't lmao.
@@His0ka best thing about Xbox.
Subbed. High quality review, I love it.
Been waiting for this one for a while. I cant wait to dig in!!
Honestly, I dont play these turn based games, and this definitely has a learning curve at the beginning . . . but once you get the hang of it, damn its entertaining. Im rushing through the game right now and am just to finished a 12 hour straight marathon. Can't wait to play this again but when its patched more and paying attention to the plot. I give it a very strong 8, leaning towards 9, but don't feel like it's done enough for that.
i still remember the pain i had when in wasteland 2 when over half of my OG ranger squad where infected at the agriculture base and they mutated and died. no other game has made me feel that much pain/sorrow for my in game squad before. to make it worse i made my squad after IRL friends. haha
I had this same feeling in xcom 2 when my squad named after my wife and family were killed/captured by the enemy. I genuinely felt like I let my real family down haha
So your savegame funtion did not work then
@@crisg1693 it did but it added to the drama so they stayed dead/captured haha
@@ryantaylor3917 I get it, hardcore realistic playthrough.
@@crisg1693 save scumming is trash.
Thank you so much for these reviews!!
Can't frickin' wait. Thanks for the review my man!
Hey, just found your channel as I was looking for reviews of this game. You're fantastic! I love the guided review system you have and how much of game-time you invested before giving a verdict. Easy subscribe, thanks again!
My anxiety just shines with that stat system.SOS.
Good review. Only thing missing is how it performs on the XOX.
this looks like a lot of fun! will there be a follow up review for the co-op part of the game?
From mthe glimpse we got, those pregenerated charas seem to have some meat to them. Does anyone know if they have stuff like unqiue lines or even unique quests kinda like divinity original sin 2?
Wondering the same. There seem to be many of them for them to have a lot of bespoke content, but unique lines would be nice.
I’ve heard they are just flavour text like the majority of npcs from wasteland 2, no unique choices or quests to do with them. But this is just taken from the one other review I saw.
Live how absolutely nobody was talking about how utterly broken this game was when it released everyone was to busy praising the game.
Had no clue this was coming out, looks like a lot of fun!
Gonna try this one !! Thank you 😊
That quote from brian Fargo just undermines the Inherent moral good that we have. Whether you believe in natural theory or not there are many cases where there has been hard circumstances and people have banded together to help one another. The nihilist view is simply the easiest to take.
Since when don't horror and comedy go well together? They are actually well known for being two genres that DO work well together. There are 100's of great movies, everything from Evil Dead 2 to Gremlins, that prove that Horror and comedy are a perfect match.
@stirange Gremlins 2 is good too, its not as good as the first one, but its a fun movie.
Thanks for another great review. Always enjoyable and very detailed
Didn't know this was out this week and just spent my money on fantasy general 2 for PS4 oh well probably in a few weeks then great review mate 👍👍
Are the custom characters voiced?
Dumb question why wouldn't they be lol
@@shaycormaic5365 Because there are some crpgs with voiced protagonists that only have lines for preset characters. Divinity for example has voiced lines and entire storylines for premade characters while custom ones don't.
damn those graphics look like they're not supposed to give a 2080ti any trouble. I hope the optimisation is patched up
As long as the gameplay is great.
I always love your reviews! You are ALWAYS the deciding factor in whether or not I buy any games! Keep up the amazing work!
I've been looking forward to this for months. I pre-ordered it in February as a birthday present to myself (Before it was announced that delays would make it come more then a quarter of a year after my birthday instead of around my birthday) Wasteland 1 was the second RPG I played and I can't wait to see what we face in Colorado. I wonder how many new guns there will be in this one? 2's gun inventory was weird because some of the guns from the first game were missing and there were World War II era guns refit for different ammo types added.
"Of course taking place after wasteland 2, hence the title..."
Please have a talk with red dead, lol
I think you mean 'Red Dead'
You can't read when you're dead, but you can be red when you're dead.
I think you mean Read Deed
This is a sequel because the 2nd is 2102 and this one is just a few years after that because it's talking about the events of the 2nd game
CAAAAAANT WAIIIIT!!! hope i win the giveaway and that'll make 28th this years christmas
awesome review as always!
Great review as usual. Thank you.
