Bonham and JPJ were an unbelievable force of rhythm section! Nobody can reproduce what Bonham did! And yes JPJ is a musical genius as is Jimmy. Never will there be another band like Zeppelin! They were 4 virtuoso musicians...and Jimmy is a great producer and JPJ is a great orchestrator! JPJ is so underappreciated!
Excellent analysis of the band and their influence. I saw Led Zeppelin twice: (1) 1973; (2) 1977. The 1973 concert was leaps and bounds better than the later one. In 1973, the mystique of Led Zeppelin was a real, tangible thing that felt majestic and otherworldly. In 1977, Zeppelin felt - to me - like an ordinary rock band going through the motions. Maybe I just didn’t ingest the right substances before the second concert.
I saw them in '73, '75 and '77, all in Seattle. The 75 concert was head and shoulders above the other two IMHO. Find the concert recordings if you can and see what you think.
Zeppelin was absolutely the greatest band in history! I CRIED when Bonham died! 😢 I love them so much...still my favorite!!
One of the very best
I really enjoyed listening to this... thank you!

I don't think they were ever a typical or ordinary band!

Karac Plant died in 77, not 76.
Yes...so sad
