- I thought of this after struggling to get leverage on the plug tool with just my hands. if you have no way to get the tire off, and need to plug it, just get a strong plank of wood about 8-12 inches long, and pry the plug into the tire as shown in the video. #car #lifehack #lifehacks
amazing work man..
Would've had more room if it was on the back of the tire but hey it works!
Easier way would be to have someone slowly drive forward and use the ground to push it in then back up and pull the handle out.
you would need 2 people for that and you would risk driving over it and snapping the tool inside of the tire
Tried that, but it started bending the tool before the plug pushed in. With the rotation of the wheel, if the plug doesn't push in immediately, the breaking point is the tool bending.
You don’t even need the screws, man
I know, but I didn't want the tool to slip on the wood and scratch the body panel with the wood plank. It works better without the screws if you find the right spot to put the tool on the wood.
I've installed 1000's of plugs in 40 years. Worked at gas stations all through the 1980's where we might do a half dozen PER DAY. IMHO: This technique is ridiculous, and will break your plug tool or damage the plug. When you've prepped the hole and plug correctly, moderate force will cause the plug to glide into hole CORRECTLY.
So explain to me why all my plugs have been this difficult to insert even after using the reamer tool to its maximum ability, and none of them have failed. I've probably ridden and driven 80,000 miles on plugs and no failures.
@@austina4189 : I LOVE plugs. Plugs are VERY forgiving. I've replaced tires that had a full life, evenly worn, and a dozen plugs accumulated over their life (visible on the inside of the tire). I've trained guys to plug, and what you are experiencing is pretty common. Keep improving your technique til the plug glides in every time. Cheers
@austina4189 Sounds like you need more strength Or you didn't make the hole big enough to plug easy enough
@@-dark_knight. correct. The hole definitely wasn't big enough, and more strength wouldn't hurt. You see these skinny arms lmao
@@austina4189 don't put yourself down. Definitely just wast filed out enough. My favorite tire guy makes you look like you hit the gym every day
