      Thanks for the videos. I like seeing real world uses of equipment so I can make an informed purchase. Like you said, these units are too expensive to be buying on a lark and not having them perform to the amount of money invested.
      What are your favorite thermals to use on hog guns?

      blue heeler66 I have the same question here. I just finished a hog hunt in Texas with an outfitter who used an older version of the ATN Thor. I was not impressed. I’m here on CZcams doing research because I would still like to purchase a thermal scope if possible.

    I have tried ATN, for me they are the worst china made equipment, have poor customer service if any, are slow to change. Definitely quantity over quality. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HONEST REVIEW! Poor picture quality for sure

    Todd Huey, you are a good man and did what was right in telling it like it is. Respect! We all benefit from you giving us the straight story and we are all on here in the first place because we look to you for reliable information. Any manufacturer who doesn't want people honestly ranking their product against other similar devices needs to up their game, not order users to stay quiet. I took to your videos right off and and after watching a lot, I bought a Pulsar Apex 50mm and really like it. I've learned a ton from your videos about hardware and the behavior of pigs and strategies to effectively take them out. Because I listened to you, and a couple of others, I went from getting one or two hogs per visit to Texas to where 1've gotten as many as 11. Now, here's even more proof that you are the real deal! Hope to shake your hand some fine day. Keep it up, brother!

    Similar results to my ATN X-Sight II HD. I put it on a Remington R25 in .308. After less than 20 shots the image went from color to Magenta. The next time I turned it on, it went blank after 30 minutes and won't turn off. I had to remove the batteries to turn it off. I put the batteries back in, turned it on and there is no image. Just a blank gray screen. Called Customer Support and was told I had to have the original receipt to get the scope fixed under warranty. I registered the scope with ATN when I bought it. They said that only is for receiving software updates. It does not activate the warranty. What a waste of money. I can only imagine how I would feel if I spent 10x as much for a Thor.

    THANK YOU for being honest with us! I can see that you're torn, but you did the right thing by being honest to yourself and your followers, and well as ATN. I kind of don't blame them for trying to get you to keep quiet while they fix the issues they're having, but that's the risk a mfg takes when sending something for evaluation, or even just selling anything in the age of social media. You're also helping them by making this video, whether they know it or not. You're helping motivate management to make their products better. In the automotive industry, literally, the only thing that got the big-3 to make decent cars is when the imports started handing them their ass, in the 90's, and they HAD to make better products to stay alive.

    Thanks for your unbiased opinion and not backing down. I cant afford even the cheapest of thermal scopes. I grow and sell veggies for a living and I have a kid in college. Lol I just like watching hog hunting videos. I still use green lights and a scope. Maybe someday I'll get a thermal and I'd hate to buy a sub par unit due to misinformation. Thanks to honest ppl like you that shouldn't happen.

    Yep, I see what you mean about the picture blurring up after you fire a round. Great that you still published the results regardless of ATN's request to not publish. The truth always is what we vewers want and thanks for telling us and then actually showing us. Heck, I was just about to purchase the ATN HD thermal through Amazon but I'm a bit concerned. Thanks again for the honest opinion. Thats' worth a dang lot to me.

    Awesome video mate and unfortunately ATN are the same on all there range of scopes, I think the problem lies in the fact they get made in China we have issues here in Australia with the 4k which are different problems to the ones you have in America, the other problem is that they seem to not care so long they sell there product. I had a discussion with ATN about why it was taking so long to my scope and they replied they had to make sure the scopes were right after the firmware issues in the US, on receiving mine it was dead right out the box, i sent it back and after being fixed it still has multi pull issues including freezing and the zero elevation being about +17cm on every start up.

    I really appreciate your honesty. If I pay that much for anything, like everyone, I expect it to work. Hopefully ATN will realize their error and will stand behind their product.
    BTW... I heard on a different video (one of Keith Warren's) where you were a guest on his video and you were talking about equipment. He said that you were a deputy Sheriff? Are you still? If so, how do you find the time to do all of this and that also? Perhaps you could come up with a "Time Management" course for the rest of us who would like to accomplish as much.

    I've been wanting one for years and am finally financially able to afford one. I know this was from 2 years ago and they've since released a new version. But the fact that they asked you not to share your experiences with their product says alot about the company. I appreciate your honesty, especially since it meant probably loosing a sponsor. Here in eastern N.C. we don't have much of a hog problem, but coyotes have decimated the deer population. I'm still on fence about which brand to go with and your experiences with ATN will definitely be taken into account.

    You know in my opinion, when they told you to not make videos anymore on this product, that's just a cop out on there part. They don't want to have that publicity your giving people for you just being honest. And to me that is the best thing they could have you do. That makes every one honest. So with that said, I would find someone else, even if it cost you money, because why lie. And besides that, it's hard to lie when you have the footage. God bless my friend. Just keep doing what your doing. And I know all you hunters and fisherman out there are also having trouble with CZcams getting in your pocket book to. What's next?

    I have not ran into any off the problems talked about,mounted on my 30-30 it worked for me...but i do agree the eye piece does cover more of the screen if your to far away put that's any scope right!...I am ready for the next generation ATN.

    2 years into the future ATN has done a good job of fixing these problems with the THOR 4 and I imagine this video is why so thank you for this honest review.

      They fixed eye relief, and price other than that they still have a high failure rate, fall behind the competition in image quality, and bottom of the barrel customer service. I get calls daily from customers experiences. Yes some people get scopes that do not fail but it’s like playing Russian roulette.

    Thank you for your honesty. I just ordered a Pulsar X Q 38 a. My A T X Sight shuts off every few shots now. Did work for almost three yrs though. Bought a 4 K . A T N. Sent it right back as it wouldn’t take its first internal battery charge. I’m betting on the Pulsar.

    You're doing a service to your followers and CZcams viewers. Like someone else posted ATN should welcome the input of someone using their products in a real world scenario. Your opinions and reports are widely respected. Watching you has made me realize I need to come up off the bucks and go Thermal. With that said, in my research and shoppingI have been discouraged on even considering ATN by people who sell them.

    My ATN scope froze once, and I pressed the power button for 15 seconds to turn it off. I did it all by myself.
    Then I went to the ATN website, and the following is what I found out:
    "If the device does not restart within 30 seconds, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds and the scope will turn off."
    -- those are the exact words from the ATN website.

    appreciate the honesty...i bought the THOR and returned it. It actually had a dirt ( or something) particle on the INSIDE of the lens. bad QC, should have never been there. secondly, the image wasnt good at all- Just my opinion. the unit was bad enough that i forwent the 20% restock just to get rid of it.

    When using internal batteries the Kentlis are what's recommended, you will typically get 6-8 hours of run time off of them with the ATN units.

    Todd, I commend you for the class you used in that video. I have never owned a ATN thermal but have a X sight. The video on it is also better than the screen image. I have no gripes in the way it works but have not convinced myself if holds zero and only use it for the video. Again my friend, thanks for your straight up honesty.

    Seems like a fair and balanced review. ATN ordering you to not post CZcams or social media give me the feeling they know it's bad and don't want people to know the truth. If there is ANY reason that I wouldn't buy an ATN it's because they tried to silence you. ATN, learn the most important lesson in marketing. Don't try to cover up your issues. EVERY recall goes better and smoother when the manufacturer fesses up and get it done.

    I have the thor4 resent purchase your vedio was great and maybe they listened 16 hours on battery and so far has worked well using 640 1.5 by 15 about 100 yards

    ATN do need attacking ! I Have purchased 3 ATN items, all 3 have issues, an X sight 2, an IR illuminator and an external power pack, none work as they claim ... no support..... no replies. Piss poor ! maybe we just get the crap in the UK .... Personally I suggest people steer clear of ATN unless you like wasting your hard earned cash on poor quality goods and paying the wages of people who cant be arsed to respond reply or give a stuff ! Lone Star Boars is the only honest video I have ever seen! everyone else is either sponsored by ATN or gets freebies to keep them sweet ! having lots of followers makes them take note, if you are an individual don't expect anything but problems and as stated here the "user" error if you do ever get a response !
    Loan Star Boars... keep up the honest reviews, its a refreshing change !

    Yup I have the same poor resolution from my latest ATN which I paid $650 from Academy sports and Outdoors and yes the battery usage is terrible and this is my second ATN and adding a battery pack won't connect. I will never buy one again and this is my opinion. Thanks for being honest. Because I bought mine because of people's CZcams videos if I would have seen this video I would not have bought mine. The first one I had the night vision screen would only display half a screen.

    glad i watched your video.. i handled a ATN Thor 4 384 today at Academy Sports..little grainy,so i may save more money and get a quality optic that has a proven reputation and great image quality..

    Hope Tod don't get messed with to much but he's spot on. I bought a ATN a few years back ,it was a cheaper model so I wasn't expecting much to begin with but it was awful. It never even made it on my rifle, out the box 6 hours setting it up, back in the box. Thank God for MIDWAY USA's return policy.

    I contacted ATN to ask about their scopes and they never replied. Pulsar replied right away. I have an x-sight 1 which is ok. Many reviews on Amazon which describe poor customer service. I would not buy any equipment without knowing that customer service would back it up. Especially these expensive scopes. Thanks for the honest video.

    I too, am currently suffering through an ATN nightmare. For 2 weeks now, I've been trying to get an optic, shipped to me.. I ordered a Thor 4, and they dropped the ball, only at the last minute, after constant calling, did I find out that the unit I ordered was out of stock. So, I was charged for an upgrade to a 2.5 x 25, 640 optic.
    Well, the first one arrived and had 5 different problems. It was suffering from Glaucoma, as well as multiple other issues. The Laser Rangefinder I got, also was not working and no bluetooth connectivity.
    So, I asked them to ship me another one, and I'd send this one back.. Well, they had to charge me, because the other one was in transit. Fine, stuff several thousand more dollars on my credit card.
    Next optic arrives next day air Friday. Well, this one was kinda working, but the memory card doesn't fit, it has chips on it, and the laser range finder, the ABL, Auxiliary Ballistic Laser, is completely dead.. won't power on, nothing..
    So, I'm now Zero for 4... 4 products, every one of them dead. I'm thousands and thousands of dollars down on my credit card, and still don't have a good functioning scope. I'm able to use it, but it's been a total failure. At $4400 a pop, and having 2 of them now purchased floating the return refund on my credit card, I'm more than upset. Both laser range finders are broken, but one kinda works.. I don't even know wtf to do at this point. I'm really upset.. Their customer service has been sub-par, and unless you're calling to spend money, they truly don't want to deal with you.
    It's taken me days and days, just to get a damn RMA, and get the thing shipped back. I could go on and on, but right now, I have a lengthy email composed to them, and I'm just about ready to bite nails. I don't know whether I should just send it all back for a refund at this point, or hope to god it works for at least a year once I get a good imager.
    Someone help! Anyone else besides lone star having these issues? I use to really like ATN as well and had previous dealings with them on a top level business basis.. but the company or something has just gone down the tubes. frustrated as hell at this point so I figured I'd search to see if others have these issues as well. Fuggggg

    Oh no I just order one 4 days ago" but I didn't get the record type" trying to save money" couldn't afford the high price one" but still it costed me over 1400.00 dollars I'm not a rich man" but they said that running time was 8 hrs. Hope I didn't wasted my money" thanks for sharing truthful!! at any cost"!
