- This week I finished one painting @helenalicejohnsonartist and got well on with two more. Using a pattern inspired by Chartres Cathedral stained glass as an underpainting, I then paint over the top to create a landscape inspired by Jock Bay in Kirkcudbright, Scotland. This large oil painting on canvas is the same size as the one I finished which is inspired by Cow Green Reservoir in Teasdale. This also uses geometric pattern first as an underpainting and then showing through the final painting.

Your process is so interesting. Watching you paint is really enjoyable. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoy it!
I love your work. The patterns under your paintings are so interesting.
Thank you so much! Are you based in the UK? I have several exhibitions going on.
@@helenalicejohnsonartist Thank you for the invitation. I am in Ohio in USA. Or i'd sure try to come~!
That is an lot of work on the under painting, are you using acrylics?
Hi Peter, I use acrylic and oil. Usually acrylic for the underpainting then oil on top, but sometimes I use oil on the underpainting too.
@@helenalicejohnsonartist Me too, I like Alkyd fast drying oils. Peter
Never tried them. I use Liquin to speed the drying time
Are you into archery?
Hilarious that you’ve spotted that🤣 Just started and I love it!
@@helenalicejohnsonartist Wonderful sport, I have done field archery for over 20 years. This involves shooting at targets set in a woodland setting at unknown distances, going round in groups of four usually. Great fun. All the best Peter
Sounds like great fun. I might need to improve my aim before involving others though- it could end in disaster 🤣
