- Sunday's Final round should be nothing short of magical for the disc golf community. Nate Doss has one stroke lead here at the 30th Annual Masters Cup National Tour Event and it's his 30th birthday.
Joining him for his 'birthday round' is the best player in the world sitting just one stroke behind him is Paul McBeth. McBeth has won this event the last 3 years in a row while Nate is still looking for his first home course title.
Another California favorite, Gregg Barsby is is also in the hunt a few strokes back and James Proctor rounds out the card after carding the best score from Saturday's round which was a -9 under par.
Welcome to the final 12 of Nate Doss' Birthday Round.

Terry, this is your best one yet!!! Your close proximity to the players and with no commentary, I felt like k was inside each of their minds. I could hear their excitement and their frustrations. Keep makin em like this. Your onto something.
Anthony Rotella I agree. I enjoy his commentary but I kind of liked it this way, especially with the disc being thrown captioned to the side for each shot.
Oh man, the gallery singing happy birthday to Nate... PURE GOLD!
5:08 "I don't see a disc.....OH *bleep*"
Haha had me laughing good there.
Great work Terry and all...thanks
OMG, I LOVE YOU :) i havent played disc golf for a few days now becouse of not finding out who will win at my home course they look at pdga and know the answer, but thx alot for posting this today :) now i can begin playing again tomorrow - now i going to watch the raffling final, thx Terry YEEEEES :) Keep up the good work !!!
Thanks Terry. Awesome job. Now I can go on Facebook and check the final standings. 👍
Great job Terry. Good coverage.
Do miss the commentary tho.
Keep up the good work.
Paul had the best score, but Nate was the winner. What a great ambassador for the sport.
wow that was thee most intense battle for first Ive ever watched. great coverage. i had a feeling i knew who had owon by looking at innovas website but didnt follow thru with their main page post and it was closer than i thought it was gonna be. as always amazing work terry. you are the man. espn dg tv is coming i can feel it.
I give you an A+ in quick turn around delivery of your coverage despite the issues with live connectivity. The quality of your videos stayed top notch but I did miss your cool commentary.
what a great final, great stuff
Oh, and the interviews after.... wow! This is great. :-D
Terry, can't thank you enough for all the hard work that you put into this....believe me, it's appreciated very much! I've watched a TON of Masters Cup coverage, & while the others also do a great job, I think you're coverage was THE best of the bunch. Again, love the info as to what discs are being thrown....at some point, mentioning what they putt with would be cool too.... I mean , I know Nate- Challenger, etc., but I was curious to what Proctor putts with, for example. I was rooting hard for Nate, but McBeast just wasn't going to give in, was he?? Thanks again!!
I love it when it shows "Champ Roc 3" when The 3 Time Champ him-self is teeing-off.
Nate Doss, The People's Champ. Anyone in the world more likeable? I think not.
tlucky123987 and he throws awesome plastic
thediscgolfguy have you noticed with these baskets that although they seem to stop spit throughs, they seem to punish shots that come in too high, or a little off center? I've seen a lot of good shots hit a lot of chains that get pushed out. Just an observation. I was curious if any of these guys commented on it to you.
nate is such a great dude.
Good stuff man i love to watch a card with some of my favorite players battling it out Nate your a dam good man never lose that brotha god bless and good shooting !
you are getting the McFly feel without the mood completing exposure...maybe Marty will share his secrets? Seriously though, I really am enjoying the docu-capture mood...it is like I am really almost there
I don't think I saw Nate putt this well at any tournament last year. If he can keep his putting game up like this he should be able to go toe to toe with Paul all year
Was pulling for Doss for sure...
I like Barsby. I wish he'd win once.....
Great video, BTW. Love how you show what they're throwing.
Matt Nemmers He won the St Patricks Classic (is that the name?) earlier this year :)
Matt Nemmers He really is coming up strong
Log leaner @ 9:31. Wished that would of went in. Dang-it!
I know it was crazy deathy, but at that point, I really think you gotta go for the putts like Nate laid up for on #18 (at 16:28).
J D idk, with paul carding a bogey there you just want to get that stroke on him and keep going. i like the aggressiveness though, just don't think i could play it that way in that exact situation :P
J D Ask Ricky Wysocki how running that putt goes. He basically lost the 2014 masters cup by running almost the same putt.
Nate played conservative all weekend, that's how he got himself into position to win in the first place. I'm guarantee there are a lot of guys who finished worse then Nate did who regret playing aggressively.
Peter mercil I hear what you're saying, but I feel like if you're down by three with five to play, you either want a chance to win it or you don't. Waiting for a player who's only been making stray bogeys to take a big number when they're almost in a position to only need pars is not a winning strategy.
J D I know what you mean. Basically in that situation there are two schools of thought 1) Play to win, even if that means risking shots that you had otherwise intended to lay up. If you end up getting punished and taking a big number at least you put up a fight.2) Stick to your game plan. You made a plan on how to attack this course before the tournament started. You thought that plan gave you the best chance to win. If you stick to the plan, play your heart out, and Paul still beats you can tip your cap to him and know you did the best you could but he was the better golfer for those couple of days.
There are merits to both strategies, and great players who prefer one way over the other. My gut feeling is to give Doss credit for sticking to the plan. He knows DeLa as well or better then anyone else out there and knows the importance of playing smart golf on that course. He REALLY wanted to win this event, and thought playing conservatively gave him the best chance.
Peter mercil I completely agree with you, especially with sticking to the game plan.....until that point where you have to go for it because if you don't your opponent can literally lay-up the rest of the course and walk off with a win. All I was suggesting is that 3 down with 5 to play is probably that point. Then again, Paul likes to play to the crowd and maybe Nate was counting on Paul not playing it safe that last few holes.
I heard the servos on that first drive by Robo-Barsby. Creepy.
EPIC!!!
12:57 Now that is how you mark you shot.
Yeahhhh
woooo lets gooooo
did any channel film devan owens ace on 16 that you know of?
+David Smith - yup, Central Coast Disc Golf was on that card and captured it. Here it is:

The interview at the end spoiled the winner of the women's division. Wish you wouldn't have done that. Very entertaining video otherwise, and thanks for putting it up quickly.
Tom Davies - it has now been more than 48 hours since the women's champion was crowned. I did reference her anywhere else in the video except the very end and although I can somewhat understand what you're saying - I can't say I regret putting that in there.
I feel bad enough I didn't cover the women (who were covered by another channel) but at the very end of the 7th video I put out (which didn't release until Tuesday) , I have an interview with her and I think it was appropriate. Sorry it did spoil it for you though.
thediscgolfguy I'm thinking the PDGA Live Scoring gave it away long before you did. Good job on the vids and as always, THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!

Dang Terry, I haven't watched the FPO final yet. Spoiler alert.
SANTA CRUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NATE DOSS FOR LIFE SON!
please don't spoil the outcome...
I don't think I have ever heard Paul complain so much during a tournament, really shows how this course can mess with your head.
A polo and basketball shorts..smh
