The Battle of Chickamauga: The Fight for Jay's MIll

- The battle of Chickamauga continued on the morning of September 19 when it ignited near Jay’s Mill. Initially starting as a small engagement over water, the fight steadily grew. Confederate cavalry commander Nathan Bedford Forrest plunged his troopers into the woods west of Jay’s Mill, where they met a devastating volley from Col. John Croxton’s infantry. Crouton’s men would then find themselves outflanked by CSA infantry. Will the fight continue to escalate?

Great video. Haven’t seen many videos covering the whole area around Jays Mill. The animated maps helped in understanding the battle amongst the thick woods.

"Great Video?" A grubby, unshaven, unkempt over nourished, narrator who looks like he just got off the tourist bus, back pack, sunglasses, ball cap who keeps referring to himself as "us". This is the South, oh excuse me, border states, not upstate NY. Yeah he is real solemn These Yankees were invaders, marauders, definitely out of state, trespassers, enforcers. Is this a video for kids?
It's important to keep in mind that even at the beginning of the Civil War the average Confederate regiment had less numbers than that of the average Union regiment. By 1863 this fact was much more pronounced than in 1861. It was typical that a Confederate regiment would have half the number that a Union regiment would have. The Union army continued to grow throughout the war right up into 1865 while the Confederate army by 1863 had no reserves left to call upon. This is much like the situation now in Ukraine as the Ukrainians have reached to end of their reserve of manpower while Russian is sending in approximately 30,000 more per month.
The Union definitely had greater numbers and reserves to pull from. However, by the end of September 19th, the Confederate Army actually outnumbered the Union Army at Chickamauga.
@@ProjectPast1565 That is only partially true. The first day and until at least 11:00 am the second day the Confederate army was substantially outnumbered. Sometime around 11:00 am on the second day Longstreet arrives on scene and then the numbers go to 65,000 Confederate to 60,000 Union. This is according to The American Battlefield Trust website.
So, if it had been 60k vs 65k the other way around would you have put it so vaguely as to say, "they outnumbered the Confederates", when it was by such a negligible number? Or, would you say, "basically equal numbers". Watch this boy everybody, he gives an extremely biased view of the actual facts. I'm gonna keep an eye out for your videos boy cause my great grandfather fought in these battles you've been slinging slang about and I will keep things on the straight and narrow for you.
Actually it’s a fact that 65k is larger than 60k and the reinforcements arrived on sept 19th per the American Battlefield Trust at 11pm. So like I said, by the end of the day. The 20th would be a full day of fighting with 65k men. Don’t know how that can be twisted. I’d hope you’d get your facts straight since your great grandfather fought in these battles. All the other nonsense you listed is just strictly based off of your assumptions of what I would say in some hypothetical reversal. It's easy to throw around accusations without evidence or flat out wrong information. If you believe l've missed important details or misrepresented facts, I'd appreciate specifics so we can discuss them. My goal is to provide a well-rounded view based on historical evidence. Let's focus on constructive criticism and informed dialogue rather than baseless claims like you do in all my videos. Thanks for watching! I welcome any and all engagement!

@@mustlovedogs272ur spot-on. Old Pete's CORP had been loaned to Bragg, hoping it would enable Army of TN to push Old Rosie back north of Chattanooga, and stop his drive towards ATL. Once Old Pete helped defeat Yanks, he tried taking Knoxville, but was unsuccessful.

Im learning alot on Chickamauga. Been rewatching some of your older Gettysburg vids iver again ti brush up. Battle anniversary is coming up and i am only an hour west of there and try to visit a different part of it every anniversary.

@@ProjectPast1565 I think a buddy of mine and I are gonna hit where the 17th Maine did there stand. To be honest until I saw your video on that again (def watched it once before cause my thumbs up was highlighted.) I hadn't even recalled the 17th Maine at Gettysburg. Everyone, including me, tied up on the 20th.
@michaeldouglas1243 that area of the wheatfield is a neat area to visit. You can walk right along that stone wall where they were positioned. The 16th Maine had a very heroic stand as well on oak ridge near the peace monument/eternal flame.
