      I really like how the pilot view gives you some depth perception even in 2d, looks very pleasing. But overall I have enjoyed the handling during takeoff and approach, heavy but gives some time to coordinate the control inputs. Getting more fond of this plane than I actually expected!

    That was a great review; I appreciated your professional pilot opinion when working within the constraints of a flight sim. You touched on the small details that really aren't molded in most add-ons or other simulators. As a fellow pilot; thanks for pointing out the more real world aspects of flight that PMDG intergraded into this module.

      @thecorporatepilotdad  Před 3 lety +2

      You nailed it. It's definitely a benchmark and I'm seeing people say the DC-6 isn't for them. It's an airplane and it's so functional at a great price. It is an absolute dream to fly on a trip and NOT USING GPS!

      @@thecorporatepilotdad it’s the best value for money so far, 2 massive planes, 99% function, the virtual engineer is a amazing system, granted not everyone is into the big multi engine stuff. This will make other devs sit up and take notice. All other plane releases will have a dc-6 sized stick ready to hit them for comparisons. Flying this live on my stream yesterday was the most nervous I have been flying a sim plane in a long while. So much to learn but the engineer fills in the gaps so easily. I am planing a test of the damage systems at some point see what it takes to buckle a few engines lol

    Flying Fabio is fabulous ! Finally a successful flight with DC6, from start to the end :) Because this Old Lady doesn't like to be pushed too hard, I ignored ATC and descended much earlier, gave me extra time for getting the altitude right later on + the speed. If you can't operate the laps, check hydraulic lever, make sure it's on. Approach works fine, VLOC GPS VLOC to wake it up, when you have ILS signal. I turned off AP earlier and landed manually, checking ILS needle. Not the best landing but I'm happy ! Good luck !

    That gust lock had me completely messed up until I figured out what it was. Couldn't get off the ground but once I moved that thing, ta da!!! ;)
    I'll say that this is one amazing plane. Is beautiful and with the help of the AFE, it's not all that difficult to fly. Now, the CTDs I'm getting though are very frustrating (seems to be multiplayer related but I've still getting them with mp turned off - known issue that's being addressed so for now, I'm holding off on more flights with it).
    I am by no means disappointed with my purchase. It's well worth the cost (figured it was going to be over $70 so $55 to me is a bargain!).

    Hey ! How’s your DC-6 going ? My confidence is growing, feel more relaxed inside the cockpit, without getting panic attacks 😱 Found out, don’t use more than 20° flaps until just about to land, too much drag. I had 50° way too early, you’ll get 80 knots and plane about to stall. I’m getting better doing good approaches and locking in ILS signal. Sometimes still do silly mistakes and plane ends up doing U turn of 180°. Did you buy original Operation Manuals ? In section 3-22C there’s useful information I’m going to steady, how to capture ILS, when to turn what switch :) Anyway, Happy Flying ! Ronnie

      I finally got home after a week and was able to play it last night and today. Started on a video on how to fly airways, ILS approaches, and basic AP info but it is doubtful it will be done before the end of the week with my schedule. I did not buy the manual but use the POH that came with the airplane. Full flaps can be used on an ILS. Trick. Practice flying a set speed on final (maybe 100-120 knots) with full flaps and know what power setting (BMEP with props full forward) will give you that particular speed. Set full flaps and then adjust power to get that setting. It will give the desired speed almost every time.

      I can say that in the two brief flights I had with it, it was fine for my standards. I have an R5-2600, RX580 and 16GB DDR4 3200. With default aircraft, on high settings at 1080P my system usually does about 27fps on the ground in the cockpit, and then increases as I take off, from about 2000ft upwards my frames are usually mid to high 30's with default aircraft and they increase a bit the higher I go. With the DC-6 I was getting the same FPS on the ground, which I wasn't expecting to be the case. however, I did notice that in the air I dropped about 5 to 7 fps, so in flight I was only able to get 30 to 32 fps in the cockpit view. I'm happy with that for such a complex aircraft. I haven't gone above 5000ft with her yet, so maybe higher up I'll win a few more back.
