the guitar i began my journey with was my brother in law's 12 string ricky from the 60's. i used to play it when he wasn't home. i was sooo careful with it. one day he said to me " save up$300 and i will help you pick a good first guitar. i know you've been playing mine for a while now, you should get your own." i asked him how he knew i was playing his guitar. he said "every time i take it out of the case it's spotless clean, and in tune." that was 1982

I keep a Dano 12 string in open F for Levee Breaks, splitting the signal between a dirty and clean amp with a bit of chorus for even more width. Try it, it sounds incredible.

I just finished modding a 12 String for my daughter. She and her husband have a metal band and I'm hoping they can put it into use in their gigs for a meaty sound.
I'm also hoping that someday she and I (and my Danoelectric 12) can duet on the Byrd's "Turn, Turn Turn".

I was hoping to hear Hysteria. I play it on my Rick 12 and also my Eastwood 12. Matter of fact, a lot of Def Leper's songs would sound great on a 12 string.
You should check out The Song Remains the Same live it's distorted 12-string with soloing on it!

I’m just about to buy a lefty 12 string Tele kit and man Spirt in the sky sounds dope! I think it would be good for some Foo’s also.
The T. Rex nod made me happy. Though as much as I love 12 strings (my main guitar is a 12 string, The Church is one of my favorite bands, etc...), I'd say Bolan's playing style is probably one of the few exceptions where it doesn't sound better on a 12. His style was so rhythmic, the chorusy warble/frequency clusterfuck (in a glorious way) of a 12 string kinda gets in the way of that.
I have a Gibson 1975ish acoustic 12 string that I love to play. It is missing a few key elements from being authenticated, like the neck stock plate and the paper sticker they used to glue inside the body that gives the serial number and such, but it plays amazing. I am sure it would be worth a lot to someone interested, but just can't bring myself to offer it on ebay or other sites and would never consider turning it into an electric hybrid. But loved your video of how some things just sound better on a 12 string as opposed to the traditional 6 string riffs. Nice Job!!
Great list. I think 12 strings really shine with the arpeggiated chords (like Run To You). I think Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress by The Hollies would sound awesome on a 12.
More guitarists need to play 12 string guitars!!!

I’ve had a Martin 12 sting for 52 years. Heard all of the Beatles or Tom Petty stuff on 12 string, but man there is so much more to be done to be had with a 12 string in the right hands!

When you play distorted it almost sounds like an octavia because of the subtle octaves haha
i've been playing pretty much exclusively 12 string electrics and acoustics for 30 some odd years. I play em dirty and clean, and in between and the 14 string i have on my profile was me wanting to try something completely different. I understand what robert is saying here about the inspiring.

I always find myself playing Fly By Night on my Fender XII Strat. I wish it had a humbucker in the bridge now after hearing the tone your getting out of the danelectro.
Chuck Berry classics also work very well on an electric 12, as Roger McGuinn has occasionally demonstrated.

I found one (12 string electric) that is inexpensive and still debating..but this video shows a different side of the 12 string electric.. Actually it can sound wicked..!!! You picked some great songs for it.

Hey Robert …. check out the band "Big Sugar" … the guitarist, Gordie Johnson, uses EDS 1275's for tons of songs, and the twelve string sounds he gets are pretty amazing ….. I have seen them live a few times and its a full-on sensory assault ….

Yeah 12 strings have a great sound but have you ever had to regularly restring one? With effects the way they are today it's easy enough to get the same sound out of a six string without the hassle of a 12-string.

Trysten Smith Basically its the same as a 6 string, but each string has another one that has the same note, some in different octaves. The two strings are also super close to each other so you can play two strings with one finger

I've tried so many 12 strang emulators pitch shifty boxes and the like but nothing beats a real 12 stranger and a DanE with humbuckers who could ask for more :D

playing a 12-string is sorta tough on the hands when your so used to playing 6 all the time.but with sound tech we have today you dont even need to buy a 12-string guitar.you can buy a pedal that will give you the same sound and you only need 6 strings.i say, buy the pedal, not the guitar. lol
