Today, we finally start the Porsche build! We've been gone for a while, which means we have had some time to let parts roll in. In today's video, we install The DAS Auto rear cage on the 1983 911 SC. This cage is perfect because it utilizes all OEM holes and requires no drilling, cutting, or fabrication. Easy plug and play!

My vote is paint it. Worst case scenario you can still wrap it if you donât like the finished product. Side note, the slick back is a vibe!
Personaly I'm a fan of no spoiler on 911's.
Man, Tim just living his best life. It feels like yesterday he joined the garage but it was forever ago. Much love for Tim and what he does for Legends.
Full restore! Would add so much value to it and 10 years from now you wouldnât look back and regret painting it.
it wouldn't though. Painting it would make it lose value, as its no longer original paint. A restored car is worth less than an original car with patina 99% of the time.
Full restore actually negatively affects the value of older Porsche's. Unless it's a high end resto-mod like a Singer or Guntherwerks
Having a hard time as well feeling loss of purpose. Glad to have someone like you relate. Thank you Dustin for those small talks they really help and make a difference.
I suggest a full repaint. I know itâs more money, but this car will never lose value, so I think itâs worth it. And personally, Iâd go with a LOUD color. 911âs are just one of those cars that look fantastic in bright and crazy colors. Get Tianaâs opinion on color (sheâs got style lol). But definitely something vibrant.
And then next is tinted windows
100%
Do rubystone red đ
I was about to say, paint the full car. This car is worth it for sure!
It would look super cool in purple too đ€€
this is going to be the coolest build series.
I see what you did there... đ

Facts
As far as the cars built with a purpose aspect, not every car you build has to have a purpose. I think I enjoy watching you or any other car people just build something simply because they want to and itâs fun. I think youâre heading that way with the Porsche and I love to see it unfold.
The sound of the Porsche is INTOXICATING!!! Ugh I love it. Also Paint it. Shops can make miracles happen these days.
I say paint it, Tim brought up a good point abt the sections of the wing that are in good conditions so it wouldnât look too out of place.
Maybe even do the top square of the wing black if thatâs possible
#madeittotheend
@@Unt3d yeah I meant the wing, like paint the wing to match the rest of the car as best as possible
No paint because patina
#madeittotheend I think that matching the patina would look sick, but also doing a full restore to that blue would look better
I say that ur most important car builds have lead u to meet people , new communities , legends . Build a car that will make a adventure pure . The purpose should be is to connect . When u take ur car places and u introduce us to new friendships and awesome places those have been my fav builds .
There's a time and place to have fun and have purpose in building a car. On Monday, my R32 GTR goes into the workshop for new bushes and 4 new tyres. A couple of grand down the drain. But nothing puts a smile more on my face than knowing the car is in good working condition after. Sometimes, you just have to do the little/big things to your car(s) to let you feel joy for a while. This Porsche build is one of them.
Love the Porsche!! Not a Porsche guy myself, but that cage makes it look awesome!!
Legendary vid bro! â€ïž always have fun to what we do đ„
That wing would be the perfect start for the Singer DLS sport road version. This is going to be so beautiful. Looking forward to more videos on this build.
I'm a fan of it all...the lifestyle, family and genuine feel the content brings. Keep doing it man and this is by far my favorite build. I'm 44 with a S2K and said after my S, a NSX and 911 Watercooled would be the goal. Keep it up brotha! đ«Ą
Stoked for BBS content. If youâre on the fence about the whale tail, could always try the shorty dove tail. Seems very Japanese inspired and would suit what youâre going for. Stoked to see what you do with it.
I can imagine how it looks with the wing, and I just know itâll look amazing. I think repainting to that same color will complete it!!
NO QUESTION. I'm SO glad you got the whale tail. That is my FAVORITE part about these old 911's.
Definitely match the patina. It will be dope. And if it goes south, it will be prepped and ready for a black wrap.
We just want you to do what makes you happy, the content is just a bonus for us to watch. And i hope everyone can do what you all happy with
Awesome video as always Dustin. #madeittotheend The Porsche is so awesome the cage looks great.
think its gonna look nice either way, but the paint would be amazing
Risk it with the paint and hope for the best. Risks are worth taking Dustin! Love the cage and cannot wait to see this thing finished!
Paint that and worst case scenario you wrap over the paint.
Glad to see you getting back to what makes you happy, that pure joy is contagious!
Honestly, I think the Datsun will give you similar feelings if you would ever finish it. But , love the porsche.
Yeah agree but not like he cares he has so many unfinish projects but rather work on the porsche but not his wifes datsun đ€ŠđŸââïž this is probably why i stopped watching many youtubers lol
Not trying sound rude just annoyed at how many unfinished OLD PROJECTS he has
I would try painting the wing to be honest, I have faith that it will look awesome! Also I enjoyed a lot the last part of the video, damn i kinda felt nostalgia from Vlogmas 2021 when you uploaded every day and you tried to learn surfing the board you've got in the house garage, good times! For the builds I think that the best thing to do is have fun, no purpose, just build for the sake of building, like playing a Need For Speed or Forza game where you build cars to have fun with them, get bored? Sell them and go on to the next. #MadeItToTheEnd
Damn! Really needed that closing. To remember have fun, in everything we do in life! Dut the wise! đ
Wait until you paint the car to put on the whale tail. Paint both hoods so you can change it out if you want in the future. The whale tail + paint transformation all at once will be more impactful. Also, if you're willing to do a different Porsche PTS color, I'd recommend yachting blue metallic.
you need to consider Akira nakai's rwb kit on it hehehe
I would deff see you and Tim go on a multiple Porsche restorations program. You guys do marvelous things together and we all want to see it continue!
The friendship that you have with Tim and how supportive he is beyond anything I have ever seen. Congrats on the Porsche Dustin!
Low key love that pronounce (Porsche) properly, people donât believe me thatâs how you say it. Even ask Google đ
So sick!! I say send it with the paint. That paint color already pops and is an amazing color.
paint & match! 100%. you can always wrap it later. they'll match to prob. good luck!
You also gotta keep those recarosđđđđ
SO cool. Such a great piece of history!
This is going to be an awesome build. Definitely get it painted to match the OG colour. The patina is part of the cars story and should be preserved. Worst case scenario if it looks bad you can wrap it anyway. Looking forward to seeing what you do. Subscribed from the UK.
the Porsche hands down most exciting build series I've ever looked forward to, full respray in metallic silver would be so sexy
Best thing about Dustins builds, is he isn't afraid to go outside the box.
In a youtube world of exotic this and that, it's refreshing.
The seats look so good with that cage! I love it! I highly recommend to paint it with the whole car and make it look brand spanking new đ
Love the realness at the end. I appreciate it.
I really love old Porsches, I thought that you were going to jump on a modern one but I'm really glad that you started with an old one.
Having fun also has a purpose. A big one at that.
As long as it does not become a slog, building things you enjoy and have fun with is great way to spend your precious time.
I support full paintjob, and also painting the cage with a contrast color.
Porsche build is cool, not my personal favorite but interested to see the out come!! Iâd be really stoked to see a Bosozoku build đđ»
Huge congrats and welcome to the Porsche family! Now you've got to work on your 911 wave.
That thing is đ„đ„ instantly one of the best sounding cars in the garage. Wing and Paint.
Always loved the Carerra look. Regarding what to do, I think you should do the all black but only because I don't think a shop can paint match that much history of paint accurately. Also would repaint it. Its great to see the original paint but no matching problems when you do the whole car :)
So excited for this build. Love the direction already
First try to wrap and see the result, but what an update with the tail!
This build is by far my favorite one to date! It makes me regret selling my Golf MK1 and your first drive was like how I felt driving the MK1
Loving this build series! praying someday you do a RWB build on this beauty.
Yay you pronounced Porsche right :) I know a lot of JDM guys aren't really hip to saying it that way so thank you for spreading it.
Havenât watched the full vid but I am hyped on this build!
Also I love the stock wheels on old porches so I hope the new wheels complement the original style. Excited to see where this build goes
BBS RSâs is my guess (havenât made it all the way through the video so donât know if he shows them yet)⊠but RSâs are period correct and just sick wheels⊠I have a set for a 930 that I need to refinishâŠ
I Love this build! Paint it! Yellow headlights for sure!
Watched it till the end! Love your speech cuz I feel the same about modding my toys đ. I would leave the wing out until the car is fully painted. Also, without the wing it does make the P-car looks cleaner and simple. I also own a Porsche and a Honda. JDM by heart. I love all your contents and looking forward to your next videos.
Dustin, little known fact about g body 911s, the pedal box is adjustable! You have to pull back the carpet to get at it. I've not done this myself, but I trust the source who told me that all 80s / gbody cars have the feature. Great looking car! I love the wheels you have on her now, they're classic.
Iâm leaning towards trying the paint match. If it doesnât work out, you can always wrap it. Looks soo good with the cage btw đđđŒ
Seeing your porsche reminds me of blackbird(only his is a 911 turbo) in Wangan Midnight. So stoked for this build series
Iâm excited to see how the overland build will go and if you guys are gonna hit up a road trip with it
Loving the content. Paint the wing. Yellow headlights would look sweet. Keep up the great work! Love seeing Sparco!
Cage looks sick bro đ€đœ, agree with Tim, send it on the paint đđœ, think it would def match up better before you decide what to do for the long term. Sick sick Porsche man â€ïžđđ„đ„đ„
I have a 280z as well but this is my all time dream car. I canât wait to see what you do with it and happy itâs going to be taken care of .
I cant decide on the wing until you install it the way it is now. Drive it around in their original colors and let it speak to us. #MTTE
Sweet build! Harness bars look so proper in 911's. I'm going to go against the grain and no on the whale tail. Whale tail only if it's a turbo. Go with a Getty Classic ducktail instead or keep it slant back touring.
I absolutely love this Porsche, the wheels tho I wish you would keep them on. They look so proper.
Looking good so far. Dig the cage.
Absolute loveee the cageđ but Re Paint it the same oem blueee it will look better than itâs rustic look and re store or buff the headlights
Happy for you, a 911! Happy for me,I get to watch!
#madeittotheend i felt that at the end of the video. literally you could be so focused on doing what's needed to keep things running which is required if you want to keep growing but its also fair to just step aside and really appreciate the thing you are doing. for me that's the weekends and by the time Monday hits im happy and ready to have fun for the rest of the week ahead
Beautiful 83 Porche ! Great bones to build something unique
That Porsche is going to look so sick. Also fetch with sparco amazing
Hey man! New subscriber here. I really love the porsche and your ideas for the porsche. It's so nostalgic. I would suggest a full repaint. I don't believe it would lose any of its value. The whale tale is going to look so sick! Can't wait to check out the next vid đ€
I agree with Tim and just send it with the paint other then that are you gonna be adding the sick badges on the whale tale. I think thatâs an essential part to keep on this car and I canât wait for the rest of the build itâs gonna be sick âđœ
Fersure yellow headlights and paint for the wing Dustin! đđœđ„đŻ
What a beauty!!!!!!! Congrats
Iâm big on having the coolest of what I driveâŠ. My G35S has got to be cool, fast and comfortable. Iâm currently restoring my 07 with touch of custom. Iâm with painting the whole car (your Porsche) to open doors to different options. Good luck and God Bless bro.
On the wing situation, I would say, paint the whole car. The car has so much history and painting it will only give you a nice blank canvas to fill with new memories and markings, without taking away from its past.
I would say paint match and re-spray the whole car and paint match the wing. That car color is amazing and I wouldnât want to ever wrap that car. But this is going to be a dope build series! Iâm excited for it! đđđœ
I remember when you filmed- A Born Love. You manifested this for sure.
Iâm team paint the car. Love all the content man and seeing the life gains. Well deserved man đđœ
And you talked at the end about having fun! Iâd like to see you drift! Or try drifting, Iâm kinda new to the channel, so maybe thatâs not you. But I think it would be another great addition to the channel and another awesome build!! Or builds!!
Following to see what kind of engine mods are done. I havenât seen much support and would like to know more before I head down this similar journey you show us.
Honestly been looking forward to your videos with the Porsche because you are having fun and I enjoy that.
You donât have to be loyal to JDM cars or whatever. Do this Porsche, enjoy it. Build a muscle car, build an S550 mustang, come to Australia and Iâll show you Aussie builds! Do what makes your soul sing bro
big DUCKBILL WANG gang much needed, your gargae setup and collection is goals
Yes yes, absolutely love the wing and idk, I would say paint to sample
Colour match boot lid would look great I think. Love vids from Cape Town South Africa
Full respray bro! That blue is sick!
I think you should toss it on as is. A buddy of mine drove his S2k with a yellow spoon bumper and got so much love for the off color matching. And itâs not a big choice if you can paint later anyway
Sparco is too cute. Love Corgis and small dogs. They have so much personality. 21:44
I'm lucky enough to own a 993 generation 911, and I can confirm that there is nothing on the road that feels like an air-cooled 911. The only other car that gives me a similar smile is my 2GR swapped MR2! Congrats on a beautiful car!
A long waited for a Porsche mod and it finally beginsđ,i love your opinion about how to just make a more drivable car like modding things that you've waited or always wanted to,soo yeah as you said so,do what you love and for the fun of it,and btw about that whale tail thing i guess you should painted it or just installed it first to see how It looks...
BBS boxes
Thats a good start đđpaint the wing factory colour
Then if you want to wrap it black, you can(temporarily)
But long term definitely respray factory
seeing dustin buying al my dream cars hit me in the feels damnn
Wrap the top black and paint the bottom to match the patina. Keep the patina look itâs amazing
imo it's either a full repaint or go like outlaw style with mismatch hood, trunk, and bumpers like what magnus walker did
PLLEEAAASEE keep the original colour itâs so cleannn đđđ
Strip the paint on the whale tail to bare metal and clear it. Gives patina aesthetic and ready to paint whenever / if that happens
I really needed to hear that, at the end of the video.
I think the paint would look best, the blue is so nice!
Also, BBS wheels for the porsche are going to look dope no matter what they are đ hope they are BBS Lms
When you wanna keep the original paint on the car and also have that wing, I would wrap the hatch matte black and also the front hood matte black. I think it will create a outlaw hotrod racing kinda look. And you can always build it back to stock condition.
Repaint the same color that color is amazing never seen anything like it itâs suites the car very good đ„đŻ
