Genre: Progressive Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion
    Band Members:
    Gabriel Marin- Guitars
    John Ferrara- Bass
Jeff Mann - Drums and Percussion
    Hometown: New York City
    Biography:
NYC trio Consider the Source defy easy description. If intergalactic beings of pure energy, after initiation into an order of whirling dervishes, built some kind of pan-dimensional booty-shaking engine, powered by psychedelics and abstract math, it'd probably just sound like a CTS tribute band. Drawing from progressive rock, fusion and jazz, with alien sounds soaked in Indian and Middle Eastern styles, CTS blends disparate parts into a striking, utterly original whole. Dubbed “Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion”, the band's music strikes a rare balance between cerebral and emotional, intellectual and primal. A relentless touring schedule has won the band a fervent following from California to Israel, with fans ranging from jam-band hippies and jazz cats to corpse-painted headbangers and prog geeks.

Ive been a *HUGE* fan of these dudes since gettin turned on to them 4 or 5 years ago!!
Sadly, i *abhor* hippy music fests and the majority of the bands that play(not to mention the social scene) at those fests so ive never had the pleasure of catching them live.
*Thankfully* there hasnt been a shortage of youtube footage and for that, i *thank you* for uploading this!!!
Another *amazing* set by a group of *profoundly talented* musicians!!

Music so cosmic it actually crosses into this dimension in which Gabriel Marin and John Ferrara don't exist. How else would you explain them not being ranked by everyone among the greatest guitarists and bassists in rock history?

I feel like the underlying melodies in these songs are actually pretty simple. Obviously the technical skill at which they play is incredible but, I dunno, the hooks aren't very catchy imo and the shredding can get gratuitous at times. Regardless of what I think though these guys are unreal.

I think thats the point, the bizzare chromatic leads he does would sound like a mess if everything else was as complicated... Still, their rhythms aren't exactly simple, and the accenting is pure insanity. Prog hippies... A rare specimen indeed lol

this is interesting for sure. I get the feeling they are trying too hard to be amazing and I dont like the harmonics or the progressions. It just doesnt appeal to me.

Check out their most recent album "You Are Literally a Metaphor". They have matured and developed their sound quite a bit. "Enemies of Magick" is a head banger for sure.
