    Yup, a few of them just pop up around my neighborhood, don't know where they came from but they looked beautiful. They made the surrounding rather lively.

    Why these people complain? They are pest controllers. They help us rid cockroaches. In fact I enjoy hearing
    roosters' crow. The sound of crowing rooster is soothing sound to me.

    Junglefowls in the middle of urban landscape. What a nice sight to behold and a nice alarm clock to wake people in the morning peacefully like in kampongs.
    Edit: Those who were complaining about their noise were most likely never had experience living in kampongs

      Try waken by these sound at 3.3am to 4am to 9am non stop everyday. It's really very environment damage

      @@wendyshoowaiching4161 Stop being so dramatic lah. I have wild chickens in my area too and the roosters will crow at any time they please. It's true they don't stick to a fixed schedule, but it's not loud enough that it would disturb my sleep. Compared to my neighbour's possessed toddlers screaming at the top of their lungs, this is still bearable. I live on a low floor too, so I imagine it'll be less audible for those living on the upper floors.

      You're absolutely right. I've never lived in a kampung before. I belong to the HDB generation but I'll admit there's something very peaceful, serene and even amusing about watching them frolicking and going about their usual business amid our concrete jungle.

    Many people mistaken them as chicken. They are actually the endangered species from the jungle. Their chicks are not yellow fur color. Their feet are not yellow color. They are the ancestors of the broiler chicken we domesticated for meat and eggs.

    What a great way to get woken up, in a City, like Singapore! chickens are the gift of this area of South East Asia to the world! This is their natural habitat, they are truly citizens of Singapore, let them live free, please, just like the otters, who have made Singapore a truly amazing city, a mixture of jungle, and, and Highrise Buildings! #LoveLittleRedDot!

    These families of chickens are very nice. It is also pleasant to see them roaming around freely and naturally in our hard land estates. Certainly and hopefully they would not disturb our residents much. I believe they would not intrude into those residents especially leaving on landed or ground floor houses. May the local authorities, please do not disturb or put them away.

    Those wild fowls in the urban jungle, reminds of Singapore's past (Kampong lifestyle). Just don't feed them, they have plenty of supplies from the nature, and it's nice to see them around.

    I love Chicken. Its makes me feel I am living in village and kampong. 😅 But sometimes when I see them on road makes me scare they got hit by cars.

    I live in Pasir Ris where these wild chickens roam. I don't find them a nuisance, in fact it is a pretty sight to see them roaming and finding food. Instead, I find the Koel Bird disturbing, literally "screaming" before 5am every morning.

      The Koel Birds practice parasitic brooding by laying eggs in the crows nest and their young kills the crows babies in such a way the crow population is in check.

      that because you are enjoying them from a distance. My neighbour got 1 roasters, everyday from 5 onwards will start calling non stop. Because he had only 1 so complain to mp or any ministry doesn’t work.

    If there're too many in one area, catch some and put the group in another area where there're no chickens. The numbers will eventually increase of course but until the day come when a number will have to be removed permanently, leave them alone. They provide pest control and is a colourful living addition to estates.

    Toh guan industrial park got the entire “pride” of wild chicken and their numbers are growing and if I’m not wrong they are separated with at least 3 clans & no one actually trying to hurt or chase them away ..… love it ❤

    this is true wild chicken they have dark legs. Austronesian is the first to domesticate the red jungle fowl=chicken.

    Imagine being a foreigner thinking that real kampung chickens are a rare sight for super slick kids growing up in urban Singapore. I was wrong when I chanced upon chickens and chicks roaming the streets in Shenton Way CBD. What a sight to behold and chanced upon more of them whilst walking towards Chinatown.

    I just saw a rooster near block 109 TPY lorong 1. I was brought up in a kampong environment where they were many back then but after all these adult years living in an urban surrounding, that rooster was really cool to see.

    Based on the dark coloration of their legs and the white flaps of skin the roosters have over their ears, those aren't actual chickens. These are Red Junglefowl which naturally inhabit Singapore and are the closest living relative to the domesticated chicken. Their birthrates are usually closely matched with the local bamboo's seeding cycle so this could be why there was a sudden spike in the population

    The real question is; who are these residents who brought live chickens as pets during pandemic lockdown while living in HDB?
    SG consensus 2022 reported: 60% of new citizens are from SEA countries, simply means Malaysian. Now HDB looks like Malaysia. ❤

      Despite complaints to NEA about the growing Crow population and yes they flew over or hitched a ride on those lorries from Malaysia but has since gone out of control especially along East Coast and Sentosa Cove, someone in Singapore still prefers them and let them stay and multiply over the attractive forest fowl, just like Ceca.

    My friend who holidayed in that country saw a chinese woman get her kids to chase the chickens to catch and eat them somewhere near fort canning. He took shots as he found it funny.

      Whaaaat? That's not even funny. That lady must be from China. We locals know better than to disturb them. Wild chickens aren't the same as domesticated or farmed chickens. We don't know what diseases they may be carrying. It's not wise to just go around catching them as a free meal.
