    I don't think there is any question that, like it or not, the Chinese are coming and the Japanese and European brands need to start taking the threat seriously by offering more for your money than they currently do.

      @maskedavenger2578 Před 3 měsíci +19

      A lot of these so called European & Japanese brands have been ,obtaining components , engines & even having full motorcycles built in Chinese factory’s for some time now .

      @terrybrooks7140 Před 3 měsíci

      Chinese bikes are only coming if somebody buys them which I for one will never do partly because there rubbish and secondly why would you fund a country that at some point we will end up being at war with when the Taiwan war starts.

    • @thebingleywheeler
      @thebingleywheeler  Před 3 měsíci +7

      @terrybrooks7140 How do you know they are “rubbish” where is your evidence to support such a sweeping statement? And as for the “at war” issues had you completely forgotten that Japanese made bikes took a hold in this country just 20-25 years after we had been at war with THEM that being an actual war that took place not the one you imagine might happen….you should check your history my friend and also support your criticisms with some actual facts

      I've worked on Chinese cars and bike's and been in the motor trade for 45 years so I think I'm coming from a vast amount of experience which you don't have and yes the war may not come fingers crossed but open your eyes and look at what China's been doing in Hong Kong etc

    Hi Dave, it was easy to tell that you liked this bike with such a comprehensive review, a true ambassador for the product and indeed Appleyards. There is still a stigma attached to Chinese products in general but it has to be said that some of the worlds most respected products emanate from there.
    Andy.

    Nice review, Dave! Yes, they are a nice-looking bike and are good value for money. I tried one here in West Oz last year but found that the weight was an issue for me, as I'm now 78 yo. The weight is centred quite high and for me I found that, at a standstill, anything over a couple of degrees past the vertical and the bike wanted to lie down. Whilst I can just about manage to pick it up now, in another couple of year or so's time, I very much doubt that I'd be able to do that. So, not for me.

    I recently changed my GS 1250 for the Explore version of this bike. I’m well happy rides well has everything you want and mine was a good deal with full luggage and a discount I got from the bike show. Worked out less than half the price of the GS 1300 I was going to have but being a pensioner you have to look after your money 4 year warranty and breakdown cover too. People think these are cheap Chinese bikes they are far from that they are well constructed cost effect bikes that are very capable. I’ve done several videos of my Explore version on my CZcams Channel if you want to see the difference between the Touring and the Explore Great review of the bike I’m sure this bike will be seen more and more on the roads this year

    It's a lot of bike for the money and really eye catching too, there's something about spoked wheels, they look great on a Adventure bike and even better on the retro bikes. Spot on what you were saying about off road bikes, a 250/400 is more than enough, easy to pick up and you're not going to bawl your eyes out 😭when you drop it!! Smashing Video 👍

I've done a handful of mods like foot pegs, mirrors, removed the yellow stripes, different luggage racks, exhaust etc. Like you said its super comfortable on the highway... I've done simple gravel roads and will eventually do some forest roads here in Minnesota. Currently on 70/30 tires and may change them out for more 50/50 tire. Great bike for the money it really is.

    Been looking forward to this. Another fine review, Dave. As you are more than aware, this class of bike doesn't exactly push my buttons but, by heck, I really could be swayed by this particular machine. It really is the complete package and superb value. Handsome to boot, too.
    Bikes of this calibre will become more commonplace in due course, of that I'm sure. Of course, there'll still be detractors, diehards and doubters, with views unsavoury or otherwise. Fact is, as someone's already commented, 'they're coming'. Give them time.
    Nice one. 👍

    A nice comprehensive, enjoyable review TBW. This is the Chinese bike that looks to be the one that could "convert" a few sceptics. With it's KTM DNA and slightly above budget price I think it has a chance, it just needs more people to be able to see them in the wild or even in a few more show rooms the dealer network is too sparse at the moment 50 miles is my nearest (Unless I go into London) and they don't have a Demo. Shame, I'd be interested in taking a punt as it looks like Very good value

He stopped selling CF Moto's because of the horrible delivery times for parts. I agree that the largest percentage of adventure bikes NEVER see the OFF-Road so I don't understand why manufacturers persist with 'adventure style' bike masquerading as a 'tourer '. Someone PLEASE give us a 'sub 1000cc' proper tourer in the style of a Honda ST, Yamaha FJR or BMW RT. I owned a Honda 1300ST for 15 years but cannot find a 'sub 1000cc' proper road tourer as a middle weight road tourer for an older road rider. Great review though.

    No denying the CF Moto is a good looking bike that is well equipped and great value for money however there are issues with owning one and those primarily come down to a limited dealership network, spares back up and servicing, if the importers and the factory can sort these out and actively promote their dealers then they would probably sell a lot more bikes.

    Not into fly by wire throttles . I always carry a universal throttle & clutch cable emergency repair kit , & prefer a proper throttle cable . Any bike fitted with riding modes ,slipper ,clutches ,quick shifter ,blipper sh💩t & such like ,has no chance of me wanting or opening my wallet to obtain one . I would still prefer carburettors ,over fuel injection . New or used ,I buy all my bikes cash haven’t bought on finance for around 24 years . I have been known to keep a bike for as long as 16 years ,if I like it . I still have the one i last bought on finance 24 years ago ,stripped down for a refurb as a project .. Also I have a Honda that was 10 years old in mint condition ,that’s now been in my possession for a further 10 years ,making it a 20 year old bike . My latest acquisition was a cash bought ,ex demo bike in good as mint condition ,a Chinese built Suzuki ,I have almost owned for 3 years ,that will probably see me out . I could afford more expensive posh boy bikes ,but don’t see the point ,as I only bimble around at speeds up to 60 mph most of the time & only use the odd stretch of motorway .

    You buy one of this and you will see how many troubles you will get. I have a a CF Moto motorbike: "a nightmare". More time in the mechanical than on the road.

    Homer Simpson designed a car for his brother, Abe, and this bike reminds me. With that aesthetic and impracticality off-road, I don’t see the point.

    When the CFMoto are still running beyond 150,000 kilometres then i will consider one again. The last one i had was unreliable.

    I disagree there's plenty of people that take big adventure bikes on serious off road trails in Australia

    It looks a great bike and there is no doubt that the Chinese bikes are coming on leaps and bounds. But I would (currently) just buy a used Japanese or European bike instead; parts availability while touring would probably be better, resale value would be better and long term reliability is a known quantity. I wouldn't object to a Chinese bike in the future though.

    I HATE snatchy throttles. Poor engineering if you ask me... The worst situation is when negotiating a down hill hairpin/switch back turn and you have to GRADUALLY give it a bit of gas.. nothing, nothing BANG!!! No thank you... Send it back for a re work...

      Yep, and this is the only fuel injected bike that suffers from this unpleasant trait, is it?
      Of course it is. 🙄

    CF moto has a horrid reputation for poor reliability and parts supply in quad bikes in Australia. Still can't believe KTM is in bed with them.
