      Well they should have done and should still do is make these standalone midi controllers. I mean you got a triple threat with a software controller a standalone software plus MIDI controller standalone. Plus a standalone machine. Because I use my live and force for controllers to be honest. I mean who doesn't want to knocked out MIDI controller?

    People be really hating on the Beat Thang though. I still want to get one of those, and I probably will get one for cheap when I get the money. The sounds on that thing are really good to my ears, and I won't be using it for anything other than the stand alone way, so I won't have to worry too much about it crashing out while trying to load samples and other things that put strain on the software and the unit itself. Only reason I never liked the live is because it's lives inside the MPC Touch and I hated the way that thing looked. That was another thing about the Touch that was off putting is that it didn't look or feel like an MPC. This is the one thing Akai got right when they dropped the ONE. They made it look and feel like an MPC. I had a Toraiz SP-16 let me just say that it was the dopest most inspiring gear I ever used. Dave Smith filter on that was a beast. The Roland TR8 styled sequencer built into it was amazing. Song mode was cool. The touch screen features were dope. Sound management was annoying...but the killer of it is that you're stuck with only being able to do 4/4 beats loops. It's basically a looper.
    You can make 64 step patterns but not like you think you would where you can make an interesting drum track. No this thing is designed for DJ's and Clubs so it's really streamlined to just doing 4/4 dance beats. It's really more like 16 steps with the option of doing 3 other variations of the same sequence. The SP-16 more or less coaches you to using the pads to make your song more intricate like muting out parts of a sequences, applying the filter etc. They even recommend just sampling your entire pattern to a pad so you can queue your beat by striking a pad and launching it that way to do remixes. It is really dope and fun to play with but it's more of a DJ beat making device than an MPC like machine and that is what makes it fun in it's own right. I still miss mine but I got rid of it because I was looking for a newer MPC and it just didn't have the MPC like features for beat making.

    • @DyReckProductions
      @DyReckProductions  Před 3 lety +3

      I feel u..the Toraiz seems like it was made more for live performances..which in a way is actually cool it kinda gives it personality. But if your trying to program a beat in your studio your definitely gonna want more features geared towards production.

      people are way too hung up on how the Touch/Live look. I think they look great, but they're different than the traditional MPC. What I can't understand is why someone would prefer the One over the live. Why would you sacrifice true portability and better pads for a square shape?

  • @telumatramenti7250
    @telumatramenti7250 Před 2 lety +2

    I totally appreciate the idea because I know from experience that no matter how good your standalone groovebox is, it's no match for the power and versatility of a computer based DAW drum machines/samplers/grooveboxes. And I was (and still is) one of those guys that "got tired of computers and wanted standalone hardware". At least as far as it came to MELODY synths, I was, because I really appreciate the sound of analog synths. But when it came to rhythm - it's like no standalone could possibly satisfy me. I needed something far more powerful and versatile, but with a hardware interface, and this here was probably one of the best such devices. When you get a spontaneous idea to record something you just heard online and use it as a sample, you aren't going to wait until it's recorded, converted to .wav format, put on an SD card and then imported into your standalone. You want it right there and then. Waiting until your idea materialises really stifles creativity, and paradoxically - the very same thing that made me opt for hardware when it came to melody is what made me opt for comprehensive hardware to DAW interfaces, not sure if this makes sense, but there it is.

    How about a mpc Touch 2 could be so much, much more slim like a studio... would be dope with a laptop.....
    As a controller the live works with the computer better than the touch did. The touch would have driver update issues and then it would be a paper weight. That’s the frustrating thing about the touch.
    If the computer goes down its trash, and it’s hard to justify spending 800 bones on a paper weight. The studio was dope because it was so thin. I think the Technology is out to create the studio/live akai mpc. Which will be a stand-alone with the touch screen and a very much more slim form factory like a iPad or a mpc studio. Of coarse we need break out cables like an apogee duet.
    The technology is there. It’s coming. Akai has implemented many of my ideas 💡 by chance idk? But I did send the ideas to them.
    Mpc Studio/LIVE is the next generation
    Functionality of the LIVE in a slim modern form factor ✌🏼

    This was released after the Mpc Fly and Ren where Akai people didn't wanted to develop full Mpc app inside iOS (retronyms are one of the most hated devs on the platform for things the did) even when the touch experience was behind the simplest app in iPad. It's related once again with business management and revenue flows of course... the developer from the Ren software entered the iOS platform with an amazing djing app with remix deck-like banks etc... and finally got hired by Apple (AFAIR). About Pioneer Toraiz (and Djs1000) oh boy... that was what I was expecting from Roland as replacement for the Sp555 but it wasn't until they released the Mc707 that something similar was on their catalogue... Pioneers half backed (the first product after being flooded by equity firm money investment and also the first product released with bugs and missing features... check the time, again corps business plans hitting the development) and Mc707 overpriced with a small screen (well almost has screen not like the sp...) etc etc... Now with the Mv1 almost they are integrating with StagelightakaZenbeatsakaNEKO OS looooooool
