- Welcome to an Omega Seamaster extravaganza! We'll take a look at the new Seamaster 300m for the Beijing 2022 Olympics special edition (ref. 522.30.42.20.03.001) and compare it to the classics as we explore the history of the Seamaster in 5 watches.
We'll examine the allure of James Bond with the quintessential Pierce Brosnan-era 300m Professional (ref. 2531.80.00) from the 1990s. And we'll also check out the fascinating World War 2 history that made the Seamaster the watch it is today, with the famous "Spitfire" pilot watch (ref. CK2292) and a rare 1960s Seamaster (ref. 165.024) from the golden age of their military divers.
I also compare my pre-1957 trilogy gold, dressy Seamaster with the latest Planet Ocean 39mm (ref. 215.30.40.20.01.001) to delve deep into Omega's illustrious story and prestigious watchmaking achievements, in addition to its cultural impact, record-breaking deep sea explorations, amazing moments in cinematic history, and design evolution. Join me for a deep dive into the masters of the seas and my personal watch collecting journey.

What I like most about this guy ... he does not uptalk, he is original, every sentence does not sound like a question ... you all know what I mean, speaking has become a lost art.
And… my day is finally complete.
Genuine lol at the recreation of the Halle Berry reaction.
Yes! While watching the video I literally said "Damn!" out loud at my TV... and then TGV's reaction gave me a legit LOL moment.
Thank you Frank,
Best regards,
TGV
TGV, the watch enthusiast's, enthusiast. Thank you for sharing your passion for these lovely timepieces. Cheers.
Stellar, TGV: just brilliant. A personal story, a clear love of these watches, their history and technical info all presented with no hint of ostentation or pretense. Well done! A true conaisseur and man of the people! 👍👍
Watching this channel 6 or so years ago definitely shaped my love of the Seamaster. Early SMPs were attainable to a broke college kid, where as a Rolex was, and still is out of reach. I have no regrets about getting a midsize SMPc. I love that they're still holding to the ideas (city, sea, country) that defined it in the 50s while letting the design evolve.
Excellent point about the "vs Rolex" aspect, top comment in general in fact.
Thank you Kyle,
Best regards,
TGV

The most genuine reaction to anything ever XD
TGV, I love it. I bought a 1957 Seamaster, to celebrate my year of birth. And I hope it becomes a family heirloom, as I gift it to my son..
I own one 1964 Seamaster ref. 165.001 with the same excellent calibre as in the vintage Seamaster 300. Pure class ;-) Love it.
Another out of the radar Omega Seamaster that no one talks about is the Omega Seamaster Exclusive New York Limited Edition. They only made 399. It’s a retro 1940’s ….50’s feel and it’s a NY honor. You can only acquire this watch at retail in the NY City Omega or Short Hills NJ Boutiques. It’s really a classic piece.
My first luxury watch was a bond seamaster thanks to you. If I had to live off one watch line for the rest of my life it would be the seamaster.
My favourite seamaster is my first generation planet Ocean in 42mm. But my favourite era of seamaster is definitely the 60's with that second generation diver and all those classy dress watches.
Do not forget the Omega Pre Bond from 1992 ! Also a great Watch
Wow, bravo. Your love of watches always shines through in your videos. As someone who just bought their first Omega, I found this video to be especially interesting because it was like taking a journey back in time with the brand. And after a year of challenges, seeing all the challenges the Omega brand endured makes me like it even more because it has had to fight and adapt to a changing world. It makes the pride of owning a watch with such heritage just a little more special and as I sit here looking at my 300, I wonder whose hands it will be in (not mine, I would imagine as that would put me close to 100) in another 50 years, and what challenges the company and the world will have faced in that time.
Thanks for doing what you do.
Love the seamasters history and evolution through the decades. I have those same feelings of nostalgia for all the various models that you have covered so well in this video. Thank you 🙏🏻
I absolutely love my 2254.50 - saved ages before pulling the trigger….. Bought it 2016. A 2005 model to commemorate my engagement and gaining my degree……. Almost a daily……… love it!
Just epic as usual! Great research and I love the way you plot out the history of the watch
Thank you TGV for another great video! Love Omega watches! Stay healthy and well! Nick
An absolute pleasure, stay healthy too.
Thank you Nick,
Best regards,
TGV
One of my favorite channels! Keep up the great work!
Bought my seamaster 2220.80 over 10 years ago new, and it's still going strong. I wear it everyday and never been serviced and still runs about - 3 seconds a day!
I have a 45mm Planet Ocean with the Orange bezel and I wear it with a black NATO. Its by far my favourite and I wouldn't swap it for anything.
I've just received my first Omega, a 1961 Seamaster (with what I believe is quite a rare textured dial) and I'm over the moon!
Except for that Jinx beach scene - hahaha, well played TGV, well played, sir.
Highly enjoyable, appreciate the effort in these stories.
Inspires me to reflect on my own stories. All tangentially related, when using the love of the art and science of watches as the context.
All the best,
Dean.
Absolutely wonderful episode, TGV. To see such passion and excitement about the pieces, as well as learn so much about the collection is intoxicatingly enjoyable. Cannot thank you enough, my friend.
The way that you worked each piece into this video as they were acquired along your collecting journey as opposed to chronological production was masterful and very personal.
It seems you find a great deal of your horological inspiration from cinematic adventures. It is good to know I am not alone in this😜😎 For some reason, although Craig is not my favorite Bond, the Spectre 300 is probably my favorite Seamaster. That or the Brosnan....just due to Brosnan being the Bond I grew up with.
This episode was truly special. Stupendously well done.... you have been put doing yourself lately, but this raises the bar to another level!
Onward and upward, my friend. Thank you very much.
Perfect way to start my weekend. 💯💚
Amazing video and thank you!
Just bought the Beijing 2022 edition and I absolutely love it! My favourite everyday watch to wear and it looks even more striking in person.
I had not been too aware of Omega until watching your videos. The 2021 Seamaster looks outstanding and a watch I will investigate. Thanks for the outstanding video and history lesson.
Entertaining & informative, what else can someone ask for? Great content!
Love those watches, the Planet Ocean is a stunner & definitely my personal favorite Omega.
The Omega seamaster next to the speed master and the explorer might be the perfect watch collection.
I bought my first proper watch two weeks ago, a new Seamaster 300m with black dial. I have wanted a Seamaster since goldeneye just like you described for all the same reasons. My research of this watch and particular model is how I found your channel, and thank you for all the advice and honest reviews. I have been watching all your videos now and in pursuit of watch 2 and 3 as we speak. A new fan to the hobby.
Hope you are very well this evening sir. Great video as always. I've often looked longingly at the blue wave dial models through jewellers windows. I am drawn to Omega due to its association with Athletics or track & field. Loved the history. As always so well researched, it's very much appreciated 👍
This is awesome. Thank you!
I have one and it was the first watch I ever bought myself back in 2003. I still wear it nearly every day. While a few others I have stay locked up.
One of the great episodes of TGV. You told your personal story behind the Seamaster you cherished
About this time last year after much research, I bought the 43.5mm Planet Ocean as a retirement present to myself. It was my first automatic/luxury watch. It is everything I wanted in a watch. If I had to do it again I would buy the exact same watch. No regrets. Thanks TGV for helping me make my decision.
I’m loving these lineage videos you are doing lately! I am the proud, original owner of a 1997 Seamaster. I remember thinking when I bought it back then, “ wow, this watch is monstrous in size!” 🤣😂 I recently was given my deceased father-in-law‘s 1952 Seamaster with automatic bumper movement. I’m so happy to have the pair of them to show how they changed over time, and I love both of them for what they offer and how they make me feel. I’ve been saying it for 25 years now....anybody that is into watches needs to have an Omega in their collection.
TGV, what a great new video about the wonderful Omega Seamaster. I like all from the 007 area. Thanks again for all your great work for all of us. Stay safe Fratello. 😀🇮🇹
Content, videography, passion for the subject are all here in abundance. Masterful video TGV! Wonderful inspiration to help me find my first Seamster purchase later this year.
Thank you so much Bob, that means the world to me!
O&U!
Best regards,
TGV
Another great video TGV! 👏 great watches 🙌👊
As always love the content, the history, the tech details and the persona views.
Sets these vids apart from the competition.
Keep it up TGV
Thank you so much Frederick!
Best regards,
TGV
Some of your best work, TGV! Onward and upward!
I recently purchased the SMP300M in blue as my everyday watch, I’m amazed at the accuracy 0.03+ seconds a day, I really love it.
I recently bought a WatchCo 166.024. The best diver watch I've ever seen, period.
Loved this... thank you
This flabbergasted face and these praying hands during the Halle Berry beach scene............just .matchless. You are your own actor meanwhile and not a bad one IMHO ! What a watch channel.😂
For my 50th birthday i decided to buy my first luxury watch. Upon starting out i discovered this channel and its been invaluable in helping me as i start my journey. I now own a 2021 Seamaster 8800 with a black dial. Sir, i doff my cap. Thanks TGV
That gold and black leather seamaster is one of the most beautiful watches I’ve ever seen
Fantastic video! My first Seamaster was the 90’s bond automatic. I bought it in college. That was the first watch that I really had to make sacrifices for and I wore it for many years. I eventually sold that watch and I regret it to this day. I now have the glossy dial ceramic and yes it is a slightly better watch than the 90’s bond, but I do still have a soft spot for those. I’ve owned many watches that I love but the Seamaster will always hold a very special place in my heart. When I wear mine it brings back all of the memories that I have from wearing it over the years. It’s a perfect one watch as well. You can wear it on the bracelet, leather, nato, rubber, it doesn’t matter. I’ve also always preferred it to the submariner as well. Wear the Seamaster’s in good health guys!
Really enjoyed this one. Nicely covered some bits of history but through a personal link. Lots more of this please!!
The new Seamaster heritage, beautiful
After having been featured on the official UGWC Instagram with my collection - mainly the Seamaster 1948 reissue - it feels like this video was meant to be!
Love the breakdown of the different versions, great video!
Love my PO orange bezel white ceramic dial 43,5 mm. perfect summer watch… its a thick watch but it sits very well on the wrist :)
Yeah man I have the exact same one , its a beast and the bracelet is smooth, Love it !'
Aqua Terra, most true to form Seamaster. Those indices, those hands, that teak deck with a double AR coating…….it’s just butta. I’m so verklempt!
Well thats true. Just realized it. It's actually very true to the old seamasters. Good choice!
Personally I feel like the aqua terra is more like a modern railmaster, and I wish they had released it as a railmaster as it is so different from dive seamasters. I think the original dressy seamaster line is actually carried on by the de ville line, especially the tresor.
The wealth of information you share with us is simply fantastic.
That was a wicked vid mate, excellent work much appreciated 👏👍👌
Thank you so much 😊
Best regards,
TGV
I knew you always had a soft spot for Omega ;)
I am a very lucky owner of 2 Seamasters as well - a SS 1963 Seamaster 30 Cal. 269 with a diamond-textured linen dial, and my personal grail and favorite watch, the Original Planet Ocean ser. 2200.50.00.
Omega make some of the best watches in the world, and I will always keep these two, to hopefully pass them down someday.
Love the video thanks TGV
The classiest watch reviews !! Thanks !!
My next Seamaster will have to be the Ploprof. Love the look and utility of it. The perfect antithesis of your gold Seamaster!
Well, what can I say, just another great episode!
Keep it up;)
I've really been liking the 1948 lately in the new collection. Tremendous video TGV; what a lesson.
Great episode. Thank you.
I am picking up a Seamaster 300 Tokyo 2020 edition tomorrow.
TGV - Ur Omega Videos are a delight. The 90s nostalgia is real mate. I always wanted to buy a Omega Seamaster and did ! A Daddy Size 44 PO Seamaster with Orange Bezel. Love the white dial and nice bracelet.
Keep making these videos, esp the super intros, Wish you best of everything - JD Dxb
Great as always 👏🇬🇧🍻
I have the automatic midsize smp and love it. So much that my other watches barely get any time in rotation. Great video - enjoyed it very much, thanks.
The grey dial SMP Diver 300m is basically what got me into watches. Hoping to own one someday!
Wow. TGV. I feel like your production levels have went up another level. Am I even watching a CZcams at this point? Fantastic vid. All the best.
The 2531.80 was my first luxury watch too .. because of James Bond. I sold it after 12 years but recently managed to get the same watch back again. This time I’m keeping it for good.
Vintage PloProf and SHOM are great. I love diving watches from the 60's and 70's. And I like the hommage from Spinnakker, the Dumas. Also the early generations of the seamaster are fine and beautifull.
WHATTA VIDEO!!! WELL DONE TGV!
Your videos are always educational and entertaining me, I love it! Cheers from Indonesia! 🍻🇮🇩
Beautiful homage to the Seamaster
Love the 39mm! PS I really appreciate all the work you put into your videos. Very enjoyable to watch.
Love the history. Thanks!
The Seamaster is what my grandfather, uncles and father wore proudly to celebrate momentous achievements in their lives and what started my journey to collect the now vintage models that they owned. If I could afford to purchase a brand new Seamaster, it would be the new No Time To Die model.
I bought the 39.5 mm Planet Ocean back in February. Your review of that watch convinced me that it is the perfect watch for me and I absolutely love it!
So happy to hear, thank you for sharing that, enjoy it!
Best regards,
TGV
My AD was wearing his Planet Ocean when I came to take a look at the new Speedy. That thing truly is quite a hefty watch! But he pulled it off with a longsleeve shirt, great guy!
That was great! Thank you.
Thanks for your work. I watch and like all your vids. I saw the title and run to wear my sea master 2021 in white dial.
Incredible, incredible edits and delivery. I love the way you can hear and feel your love for watches, its special. Have a great day brother! P.S wearing a citizen nighthawk on the wrist, fyi LOL. Cheers
I bought the blue seamaster 2021 Panerai style dial. It's beautiful.
I'm in love with the new 300. The sandwich dial and the lollypop transformed the watch, the devil is truly in the details. Its elegant, sophisticated and understated. Whether its true love and almost grail like status or a mere crush like the Railmaster is yet to be seen, I guess only time will tell ...
As for the SMP, I have a love/hate relationship with it. I remember seeing giant posters of the SMP at all the mall when I was a kid, I was in complete awe of that wave dial and scalped bezel, it was unique and different from everything else. It wasn't love at first sight, but it gradually grew on me over time, I used to visit that mall every other Thursday and eventually stare at the posters when I walk past the watch shops, that was years before I watched my first Pierce Brosnan Bond movie. I began to shy away from the SMP in the era of the glossy plain dial and the Bond special editions. The 007 dial is just ... eeewww. The 2018 refresh of the Seamaster rekindled the flame. A powerhouse of a movement & a cleaner contemporary take on the wave dial. I still don't like the HEV.
In a perfect world I would have both the 300 & SMP in my collection. One would be my steel watch and the other is the NATO monster ... Sadly, in the real world I'm a long way from either one & may have to go the Pagani Design route to scratch that itch, it'll serve as a motivation to push harder and aim for the real deal.
I'm somewhat indifferent about the Aqua Terra and Planet Ocean. The AT is somewhat growing on me lately, perhaps its due to my newfound appreciation for sports watchs.
Excellent work as always, TGV.
Going for my first Seamaster (300 “Peter Blake”) and really loved this video. Great content. Cheers.
That Frasier DVD, cmon TGV, what a legend!
Omega Seamaster gmt 50th anniversary. My personal grailwatch. Saw it and been loving it till this day.
Another great video 👍
I too fell in love with the seamaster after watching golden eye. In the summer of 1997 i was in the Bahamas (young and with a young lady) and would look in the various watch stores as we travelled about but no one had the watch, they were selling fast. Finally in Jamaica i walked into a store that had the watch but with the white dial and not the iconic blue. Upon wearing the watch and feeling the heaviness and how great it looked on my wrist along with It being my first automatic watch i had to have it (paid $1100, wish I could buy one today for that price) and still have it today but regret not waiting and getting it in blue. I never wear it anymore and it sits in the safe. Your channel is so great as I have learned so much from you, your a plethora of information, your strap changes have even inspired me and i have ordered a new strap for it. Also, i am contemplating changing the bezel face to blue to offset the white face to try and modernize the watch a bit or frankenize it as you say. Hopefully i will put it in my watch rotation again and fall in love all over. Keep up the great work!!
oh, I was just thinking of you today as I found a vid about you! This is just amazing!
Another great video TGV! Omega the best brand out there all day for me 🦖
Admiration for your love and knowledge of horology and history
Love the video so much. When I was 13 I fell in love with Omega because of James Bond. Today, I am a proud owner of 2 Seamasters (Planet Ocean Orange 1st gen and Seamaster 300 from 2014).
So much heritage in them.
Oh needless to say - I have to rewatch Goldeneye today 😂
What a great episode
Appreciate the content!
Excellent video, btw... I love these longer expansive compilation style videos. My Favourite Omegas are from the early 60' to the early 70's I have probably owned more than two dozen from this "era" but am now down to 3: 1968 Seamaster Chronostop, Sppedmaster TV case 1045 and the 1976 Chrono-Quartz, launched for the Montreal Olympics, which I attended as a child, and had the Omega Time Clock emblazoned on my brain, so I finally got one 32 years later.
wonderful video! A contemporary SMP 300 is on the top of my wish list!
Another great watch journey
I've recently acquired a Seamaster 300 233.30.41.21.01.001 I'm in love with it. But Planet Ocean 42mm orange and an old 60' Seamaster (not the scuba one) are still in my collection. Compliment for your italian and keep up the good job. Urban Gentry it's my favourite watch channel
Oh I remember that ref. 16088
What a stunner that was on the matching baby blue nato😍
Gorgeous for this time of year.
Seamasters ad baby blue NATOs, now that is pure class!
Thank you Jacob,
Best regards,
TGV
Great content as always! I've been really itching for a vintage Seamaster 30 with a sub second dial for a while now, I just love the simplicity but I've also got the 2019 Seamaster 300 Sedna Gold and Speedmaster Prof Moonwatch on my list too. I've never owned an Omega before and I think that's my next addition :) I've only really been into watches for around 3 years so still a long way to go!
Superb Seamaster video. I am seriously considering adding a Diver 300M (white face with rubber strap) to my collection. I tried one on at my local AD last week and I've never had a watch on my wrist that I enjoyed more than the "Great White". Keep up the great work!
