Thanks Bro'.... the peppermint oil worked... just sprayed the front of my house (it was covered with wasps!) 5 minutes ago and.... there's not a wasp in sight now!
Did you do it at night or early morning. , I'm scared to spray them😑
Yo so many bugs have showed up where I live now and I can’t take it I wish like bugs would disappear but I’m definitely trying this
@@cynthiarosales3098 at night is the best option.
@@shantellways6860 go to a health food store and get diacamacious earth it’s a powder and spear it around the outside of your house and inside your house
It’s pet friendly too won’t hurt animals but kills bugs like crazy!
Same w peppermint oil
And borax 20mule
I’ve done it and they didn’t mind and kept sitting on the grass and flying above it 😐
Definitely going to try this out. Love the homemade aspect of this too. I grow herbs, and peppermint just became more awesome.
thank you so much!!! my older son Rudy and I loved your video, we are trying these ideas today so we can finally have peaceful reading sessions in the backyard lol thumbs and you've got a new subscriber!😇
Very helpful information! Thanks for taking the time to share it with us! Sincere regards!
there is a big difference between oil and extract, the oil is pure peppermint and the extract is 90% alcohol and 10% oil and the alcohol evaporates very fast leaving a very diluted peppermint scent. Pure oil of peppermint costs about $9.00 for a half ounce bottle at the health food store.
Thank you. Good info to know
You sir, are a gentlemen and a scholar. Instant subscription.
I love you & your show, brother. Unfortunately this did not work for me here in the north Dallas, Texas area (City of Plano). Thanks all the same for your time and efforts to help your fellow man.
I used this years ago and it totally worked. There was a wasp nest between the bricks of the raised garden beds under a dead tree. I use your technique and they were gone within 48 hours. Thanks so much!
Just tried this for a nest inside the outside electric plug cover. Worked perfectly! Thanks for this advice, I sprayed around all other openings of my house.
8 yr old video but this is a lifesaver for me here in 2021 as the wasps are by my garden entrance.
This worked like a charm. So awesome!
Thanks for teaching us did simple trick!
I was going to use peppermint schnapps but decided against it because of the high sugar content. I found my peppermint oil and the mixture of that plus some soap worked. They fell to the ground and I knocked down the nest. Thank you!😊
Thanks so much for this great video! I just discovered a growing nest or two when opening the patio umbrella for the first time this year. I also love natural products over chemicals, so this will be my force of action. I have peppermint extract, will that work too? I hope so!
thanks so much, I will do that right now, wasps on my balcony flying around, I hate it! Let's spray! LOL Thanks for sharing.
Love your kitchen.
Woke up with a wasp in my room this morning I’m gonna give this a try!
Even easier and cheaper:
1. 1 Liter plastic container
2. At least 1 banana peel
3. Water
4. Dish soap
First cut a hole near the top of bottle, insert banana peel, add water and dish soap. Hang bottle near a wasp nest for best results. Replenish mixture when water is full of dead wasps/insects. *Does NOT harm honeybees.
This best video on this subject so far
Thanks in advance, will try this tomorrow and I have a good feeling it will work perfectly!
did it work?
Used this on nests out on our front porch. Stopped them from flying and killed then quick. I then was able to knock the nests down. But I really recommend this and I now know what to do with nests. I used extract and added dish soap to stun them. It really worked though and I really recommend it.
A spray bottle as shown using a mixture of water, one cup of dishwasher soap, and peppermint oil you can control existing nests and discourage future colonies. Spray the nest a night or early morning.
Thank you much. Will try this
Thank you sir! Your ideas I will try as I've had a problem with " mud daubers" clogging up my car cooling system! The technician advised red pepper, but I have peppermint oil & will use this instead. Will make traps as well! 🤷❤️🧓✝️
Love the "live and let live kind of guy." Going to use both ideas. Thank you!
And just as an added benefit, peppermint essential oil will keep mice out, too.
I find it works best when applied directly to my cat.
Ouchmydragonballz you should never use essential oils in your house if you have pets, especially not directly on your pets. The smells and fumes of the essential oils harm your pets. Please google it for yourself . By doing this your swiping months off of your pets life .
Doesn't it repel spiders too?
@@ktkee7161 I would think so, though I've heard lemon oil works for that.
And ants!
Wasps love Big Red and Orange flavored soda waters, because of the very high sugar content, l think. I'm going to try that. Several years one friend left his can of Big Red open on picnic table for one minute and when he took a drink l saw him spit out the soda like crazy! A wasp was in the spit , thank God he wasn't stung inside his mouth.
I just watched another video where the guy put water, peppermint, AND DISH SOAP together and used that! Although, he didn't use as much peppermint. I think he had said about 20 drops into a spray bottle the size you were using.
Thanks for d vidio, can i use it in garden?
thank you so much!!!!
Hey P. Allen, great video.
Eric at Okapilco.
You can also make a planter out of the bottle too. Just make the bottom shorter and the inverted piece taller. Put the plant in the inverted piece. Fill the bottom up with water. Now the plant will automatically water itself for a few day.
Muy bueno!!!
For the wasp trap I would use something that won't attract bees-I live an area where there are bee-keepers; northern Idaho. A man on Utube used lunchmeat; he said the bees didn't like the odor, but you know wasps and meat! And it worked real well.
I use chicken. Kfc
Thanks for the tip, can you spray this on plants? The wasps at my house are loving the sunflowers on our patio this year.
Thanks
Great music!
I'm not sure how I ended up watching these videos. I was looking for spider web cleaners. Anyway, I subscribed. Your very entertaining and great tips!
great presentation, thanks a lot
What would you recommend for wasp in my attic? I can't use attic fan in my house because they come in.
We usually have mud daubers, and they've never given me a problem. But this year, the wasps have invaded en masse! Hope this helps!
can you make a video of that trap in action
Anything for carpenter bees what can I use on them and what can of trap?
This stuff really works well! I used it on carpenter bee`s too....havent heard a buzz in days....thanks for the video!
You kill carpenter bees too? You need to learn about nature.
Did you check your buzzfeed account?
thank you... just made some. i love the bees too and don't use chemical pestisides on my yard or home but my neighbor has some that moved into a wall attached to her home. would this attract bees or repel? i would like to have her bees find another home without killing them and thought maybe spraying this on their nest would encourage them to move on?
does the spray act quickly or do they start dozing off and then gone
Great experiment. I liked that you showed the results first and then did your comparative analysis. The only thing I would have wanted to have more specifics on were the proportion of sweet wine, sugar, and water. ( I have tried red wine but it did not work.). Also I did not hear you mention liquid detergent. So I'm curious what killed your wasps!
The wasps eventually fall into the sweetened water and drown. I think......

Nice
We have several Mason bee houses and are starting to have problems with wasp wanting to get inside the house. Will the peppermint spray kill the mason bees if used around the house to keep the wasp away?
Put some white vinegar in a spray bottle. It really makes a job on their shell and smelling sense. Just be careful because they go crazy when they notice it.
Previous wasp behavior (late summer late afternoon): fly into glass repeatedly, then crawl around the edges, or hang out at the eaves. New wasp behavior: unchanged, but scouts give up way faster, and the occasional contra bastard crawls up to the treated area (repellent seems effective at the do-I-land-or-not stage). Other insects and birds don't seem affected. Used boiled hot pepper combined with peppermint oil when cool -- house smells great. Still gonna try traps and decoy. And if the nest is on the house, there'll be blood, otherwise "live and let live" indeed.
i used mustard oil instead, and it work great
I just viewed another video & they state to put 1/4 teaspoon of dish detergent in the liquid, so that when the wasp lands on the liquid, it breaks the surface tension when they land, and they fall into the solution.
I have Africanized honey bees at my Ranch and I need to get rid of them I was thinking of using Sevendust poison and water In a 5 gallon bucket with a lid and a couple of small holes...Will this work...or can you give me advice...what to do... They are very hostile also do killer bees attack in the winter
what if I don't have any sugar, will jelly or jam work? How about cranberry juice and water would that work? I'm allergic to bees and we get wasps in my apartment. We had 5 today alone.
Thank you Sir. #Subscribed
Does this repellent and trap work on trantchula wasp? They keep attacking me every time I go out side my husband kills them with a racket ball racket.
Also do you add any dish soap in
How often should I be saying the peppermint oil?
Spray that peppermint oil when it's not windy - DO NOT PEPPER SPRAY YOURSELF - YOU WILL HATE LIFE! and wear eye protection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the tip👍
I always put it on my arms and legs. Keeps them away from me. Just don't spray in your face. But they say not good to spray around small kids.
KeeperOfThe10 didnt even think of that!!! Harvard will be contacting you with a scholarship lmao
@@KeeperOfThe10 So if you spray yourself with peppermint oil how effective is it at repelling wasps? Also how long does the effect last?
LMAO 🤣 I use Dr Bronners Peppermint miracle shower soap, daily. I guess I pepper spray myself ?!? 🤣
How about add dish soap with the peppermint oil and water. Would it work?
Is there a way to make wasp repellent with fresh peppermint? I don't have the oil, but I have lots of fresh mint.
Does peppermint oil work on yellow jackets?
DO NOT USE SUGAR WATER! This will attract loads of honey bees which are useful, needed, and non aggressive. Instead, use rotten fruit, fruit juice, or even just soda such as coke. These will all attract the wasp without attracting and harming the honey bee.
What mineral added in water.plz tell
Does this apply to any species of wasp
is their a repellent for bed bugs
will this work for carpenter bee?
How long does the spray last?
Wasp get into my room though my vents 😰 so I'll try the peppermint oil and water trick.
Seriously I HATE waking up to hear the buzzing and the thought of 9ne landing on me. Especially since I moved my bed under the vent on the ceiling. I have a curtain hanging from the ceiling so it won't fall on me. but it can still fly around 😖
Must be so scary, that’s something I fear will happen
Will this work on all wasps. I raise butterflies and the wasps are wiping me out of caterpillars. Being that the wasps are eating caterpillars will they be attracted to the sugar syrup? I have many varieties in my yard and the larger wasps are my biggest threat.
Do I have to spray it directly onto the wasp, can I just spray it arround and they'd just stay away?
I'm curious as to if this pepermint water stuff will hurt humming irds or drive the Hummers away from the feeders if I use this stuff?
I’ve also heard around the internet that dish soap works great at killing wasps. Just one drop and they basically drown from the inside out. Morbid, yes, but efficient? Yes.
Thanks I have some wasps hanging around my house
any idea if this works on RED wasp? my dad died unexpectedly less than a year ago and my mom has red wasp In the outside edge of the roof in a little building. reg wasp killer don't do anything and the are aggressive as hell. any ideas. thanks
johnnyearney I’m not sure, would help if I could. Sorry
Will this work for a bee’s nest?
That tbs. of peppermint oil looked like more than a tbs. to me. But, that sounds like a plan for sure.
How often?
Yea but I can spray this on my body tho right?
I hope this works. I have a yellow jacket in my room and its not leaving out of the window!
nix the music...otherwise great job on this video and info
Will planting a bunch of peppermint also repell these guys away?
Peppermint oil works great
Yep and any honey bee in the area will also go in the trap for the 1:1 sugar water.
Has anyone ever had a picnic where you open a coke/pepsi can and the bee/wasp seems to find it? I wonder if coke/pepsi in that 2 liter also works?
theres just one window in my apartment that gets a wasp in it at least once a week now and i cant use the pesticide (well I have but I really need to stop) has anyone tried the trap? does it work?
If you add some apple cider vinegar, it will attract yellow jackets and wasps but not honey bees. A few drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid also, they will drown quickly once they hit the water. It breaks the surface tension.
will it trap the honey bees?
We got them in the roof and boy are they putting up a fight! I am certain that these are reincarnated Nazi Pilots back over the UK for a second go ! Lets have a go at this, chocs away chaps, Tally Ho! Bandits at ten O'clock & all that. Good video by the way .
Regards
Chris.
How did you get them out of your roof?
@@mariazamora8881 Have you found anything because my mom and grandmother both have them going in the roof of their house?
I've got a wasp stuck in my lounge come kitchen come dinning room windows closed don't have time to kill it withot getting stung all I have so far is hairspray and a wacker
It does, but I wouldn't use it on honeybees- they won't bother you if you don't bother them!
I did this today. I have a Queen wasps trying to take over my car! Glad I got another vehicle. I'm terrified of them! Literally poo my pants and maybe have a heart attack kinda fear. 😅
My red wasps are in my attic and I can't get to their nests. So I got a Zep Industrial Water sprayer that holds 60 ounces and shoots 16-18 ft on stream. I add 8 oz of Ajax Super Degreaser in the 90 oz jug ($5) which will make 11 batches of mix. I then add 10 drops of Peppermint Oil ($5) because they hate the smell of peppermint and the area around the house soffit will retain that smell. I then add 1 oz of Home Defense Bug Killer ($8) and will make a whole lot of this mix. When you shoot a wasp, they either drop to the ground if you really got them, or fly off. The soap will act like a binder on their body. They will go groom it off, but then they ingest the Home Defense. They will groom for about half an hour, then the Defense kicks in. They will crawl and roll around for another few hours and die. Either way, they die. I know I have a lot of these red paper wasps in my attic but they have places to access the attic I can't get to. So I just shoot them with this solution. Slowly, there are less and less to take aim and shoot at. They are losing the war. Now my dog and I are much safer and I do what I need to protect my little dog. Maybe this will help others. Add the Home Defense to any DIY mix you add to a water bottle and it will help ensure they don't survive the ordeal. Total cost = $.75 cents per batch.
Harrison Ford and Benedict Cumberbatch had their DNA mixed
I was live and let live until I saw red wasp killing caterpillar on my Milkweed. Now I’m hunting them down to destroy them. Can I spray peppermint oil on the milkweed and not harm the caterpillar or ruin its food source?
hmmm. i used peppermint oil....and it didnt bother the yellow jackets...they still came back ::/ a few minutes later...to m y deck landing right on the place where i sprayed ....
Make sure it is actual 100% peppermint oil and not extract.
Can I just use the simple syrup I use for my old fashioned?? Lol
maybe I am a wasp highbrid thing, I hate peppermint oil to >u< my mom uses it to help with headaches and even when using almond or coconut oil and just 2 drops of peppermint oil it still stings my skin like crazy! and I don't have allergies to peppermint because I can eat candy canes or minty icecream with no problam.
I just got stung by a wasp in the ear and top of forehead it hurt lmao
I use molasses and sugar why doesn't the wasp fall in the trap?
